"This isn't theater," the President said, before going further and saying "I'm not interested in photo ops."

Did he stutter?

Exactly what kind of photo-op would have satisfied you Neo?

President Obama standing somewhere near the border - looking at a bunch of travel weary children with a stern expression?

President Obama giving a bunch of illegals the finger?

Tell me - what were you looking for exactly?

:-)

I get the feeling you don't actually like President Obama

need his katrina moment caught in time.

You know who else has not been to visit the border? Rick Perry

Maybe if it was important enough for our governor to show up, then Obama might see it as worth while. Until then, I am fairly certain that Obama is fully aware of the situation on the border. Going down there is not going to accomplish anything....what's he supposed to do? Wave his finger at the illegals, say shame on you and then personally escort them back across the border.

Feigned outrage as usual.

i just watched perry and hannity on the rio grande, this morning.

catch part 2 tomorrow. fox news.

Your Gov. Perry did visit the border and invited Obama to come along, Obama declined, Maybe Michelle should go down and assure the Children are being feed the Proper Michelle Obama Diet.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry spent Thursday afternoon with federal law enforcement officials along the Rio Grande, after President Barack Obama declined to visit the border during his trip to the state amid the surging immigration crisis.

During the elections, if you didn't support Obama you were labeled a racist. Today, if you DO support him, you are labeled an idiot.

Don't be an idiot.

Wait, so what is the problem here???

What would visiting the boarder do?

If he had visited the boarder the same people would accuse him of looking for publicity.

The derangement grows

Watching the news this morning and have a new understanding of why he said no photo-op on the boarder... There is a media blackout. No one is allowed to bring cameras into those areas. Congress was even told they could not go there. People can not even bring their phones. The reporters on the news gently said they were getting upset about how much they are being restricted. They said it is going against 1st amendment rights. Again, they said this all very gently this morning to not create a stir, but wow that made more sense as to why he didn't want a photo-op.

This really is another GOP, manufactured outrage non-issue.
Why exactly would the President need to visit the border? And furthermore...which part of the hundreds of miles long border is he supposed to visit in order to satisfy the GOP?

uh....who cares if he goes to the actual border or not?....what's wrong with you people?....why don't all you right-wingers grab a gun, and go to the border, that way you can carry out your second-amendment rights, shooting anything that crosses over, that's what all of you really , down deep, want to do.

Not that I subscribe to any partisan agenda or side, but did the White House just ask for Billions in emergency funding?

If I was asking tax payers for billions and claiming emergency is needed, especially when children are involved, I would think the right thing to do is at least show up, at the scene.

Yeah, funny when ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are granted more privacy by our government than it's own citizens.

You can keep defending him, or you can keep blasting him, I really don't care, but Obama visiting this crisis on the border does two things whether they are real or not. First it makes it APPEAR that he really cares to the American People, and second for kids that are coming across the border wearing Obama shoes and what not, it couldn't hurt their spirits to see that they matter enough for him to actually show up. I'm sure a lot of Presidents have done things that they thought didn't matter in the big picture, but as the POTUS you are more than just the decision maker, you're also a person that still brings HOPE (you know that thing he talked about in his campaigns) to a lot of people no matter what your polls say. In a country with a widening gap between the well to do and the lower class what could it hurt to roll up your sleeves and walk and talk to some of these kids being effected? For someone that campaigned on being a champion of the people he sure hasn't acted anything like it since getting to PA Ave.

Doesn't really matter what he does or doesn't do, he is damned either way. If he went to the border, we'd have a 20 page post about how stupid it was. If he doesn't go to the border, same thing. People should admit they are going to complain about him regardless of anything he says, anywhere he goes, and anything he does.

Two reasons for no visit:
1) The health issues...lice, scabies, TB and more. No one wants to be around that.

2)If things keep going the way they are down there, there is a good chance that violence could erupt anywhere along the border line....wouldn't wanna be at risk relevant to that. There are an awful lot of people going through their own kind of "shock and awe" type of reaction to all of this mess. Everywhere I went this week, folks were talking about this "crisis" and not happy about it. Who knows where this all might lead. I hope something changes for the better relevant to it all but am trying to imagine what and how that will work. One can hope but who knows?

This right and left thinking as far as politics....not getting it. On so many levels it feels like they are all the same faction. I wish we would all feel like Americans first and put America first and not just feel like we are a part of a certain group. Then divide and conquer comes into play and causes even less to get accomplished to the good of things and for the best of us all.

like bush and katrina? that kind of derangement?

bush was slammed for flying over a natural disaster.
Nagin is doing time now for his part.

the border crisis is man made by obama's policy's on immigration.

what it would do is connect obama to what is going on.
surprisingly, i don't think it would go as well as the Sandy photo ops did, for him even with some white house and msnbc spin.

or maybe he didn't want to tie up traffic so that the buss loads of kids could not get shipped out to another state?

Bush was slammed because he refused to declare Katrina a natural disaster despite all the media coverage proving otherwise; so, people demanded that Bush go see for himself. In this scenario, Obama has acknowledged the crisis and has asked congress for money....now apparently the Republican controlled HoR does not think this is a crisis; otherwise, they would vote for and approve the funds. BIG difference.

I think it is the House Republicans/Tea Party/Right Wingers that need to go visit the border, not our POTUS.

Sure...OK...

So Perry visited the border...AFTER criticizing Obama for not doing the same...

I suppose he had to at that point if he wanted to salvage his 2016 hopes.

P.S. When I made my original post, Perry had not yet visited the border. So my statement AT THAT TIME remains true.

Nice try though.
