So, lets get this straight.

Psychosis, schizophrenia, bi polar disorder, sure, give em a gun! No problem!

Attempted murder? Sure here's your gun.

Spousal abuse? No sweat, want a full auto?

So what does it take?

Don't see your point. All of those are prohibited persons and their attempt to purchase a gun is in violation of the existing law. Of course, this is rarely prosecuted.

here is a big dose of some
overpowering progressive
liberal logic.

psychology today is a popular magazine of new age
post modern naturalistic inclined atheistic thinkers.

there are 100,000 people with violent histories who try to purchase a firearm every year on the average.

the justice department which is the agency under which BATFE is administered only prosecutes less than ten of these a year.

the very agencies charges with enforcement of the laws DOJ and BATFE are clearly not doing their job.
mental illness is greater in the prison populations as well.

did you read the instructions that i posted about form 4473??

Guys. This isn't Facebook. The use of meme's is fine but please back them up with written substance.

Please also note at the same time that being civil on ATS is mandatory

Thanks.

You are right, some aren't, many are. It's those people that we are talking about here, the ones that are or could become violent.

If the law isn't working, then we need to change it to one that will.

THE LAW IS NOT BEING ENFORCED.

Your comment that the law is not working is not true.

Law is an inanimate object, as it is written on the books.

The people who are responsible for acting on the law are not doing that.

The law needs to be enforced.

You probably have no idea about the number of gun laws in this country.
The printing is very small and the book is as thick as the phone book for Wichita Kansas.
The law enforcement needs to enforce the laws that are on the books.

your error is that you think that you can do something about those that COULD become violent.

I have added a link that gives the entire book of all the gun laws in America. it is published by BATFE and is 516 pages long.

If it's not being enforced, then there is some reason, and it needs to be changed to something that can be enforced.

Preferably something that includes a very long stint in gitmo for people that express a desire for a violent overthrow of this republic.

go read the gun laws that are on the books in that link that i posted.

And then continue to stand on your soapbox and tell gun owners that we need another law.

we need to enforce the laws already on the books.

we do not need to enact another law that infringes on the second amendment.

If they aren't being enforced, we have to examine why.

Maybe they are unenforceable for some reason.

They should be enforced, this is true.

if it is not being enforced, then there is some reason.......

the reason it is not being enforced, and i am loosely
quoting AG Holder is because of lack of interest.

He testified in front of congress about it.

The reason is because of disinterested people.

You are right, it should be enforced to the letter and spirit of the law.

But if it's not being enforced as it should, maybe it's time to re-examine it, perhaps the law does need to be changed so that enforcement is possible. This may even mean doing away with laws that simply are getting in the way of law abiding decent citizens from obtaining a firearm legally.

that's the thing....enforcement IS possible..

it all comes down to an attitude of "i don't feel like it"

the thing that should be re-examined is the future employment status of people who can't be bothered to do their jobs....they take our money, and don't do their job....if it was a regular employment situation, they'd be fired..

And I suppose these laws were only unenforceable during this administration? Or has this gone on for decades?

The majority of these laws need to be enforced at the local level by municipal and state police.

The perpetrator in the Original Post had been involved in a domestic dispute and local law enforcement did not do their jobs.
