There is no such thing as a Gay Christian or Muslim... Religion denounces those people whether or not they proclaim to follow either of those religions.

Erm.....
no.

There ARE such things as Gay/Lesbian Christians.
SOME religions 'denounce' "those people". Not all of them.

interesting. So buzzy, are you a Christian?

Why do you ask?

I was raised as a "Christian", yes. Baptized, confirmed, married as a Christian.

IN THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH, which is a descendant of the Roman Catholic Church, as established by Henry VIII (16th Century), and is now (in the UK) known as the Church of England.
Nicene Creed.
Prayer Book.
Hymnal.
Incense.
Communion.

And They Do Not Discriminate Against Gay People.

But - nevertheless, my not-so-long-ago thread asking if I was a "Christian" according to professed "Christians" on this site told me: "no, you're not." (Many of them with apologies.)

Okay, I think I'm all caught up on the thread here....

Is this Kentucky church guy named 'Joe Phelps' any sort of relative to the late "Fred Phelps" (of infamy) formerly of the Westboro Baptist Church?

ETA: I just looked him up here, and although it says nothing about a link to the WBC people - he is a progressive Christian....

In 2006, Phelps appeared in a national television ad campaign for “Wake Up Wal-Mart,” which pointed out the company’s record on child labor issues, gender discrimination, and poor health care plans. The ad drew national attention, which resulted in Phelps appearing on CNN Headline News, twice on FOX News (Your World with Neil Cavuto), on radio shows around the country, and to be referred to as a “wacko” by Rush Limbaugh.

Yeah. In my book, he's a good egg.

This is very disturbing news... Obviously this so called church doesn't follow doctrine... I wonder what they will marry next?. Animals? Trees?. Can't wait to see the demented spin the extreme leftist groups will say about this church.

Marry a tree? I have a lovely black walnut a few feet from me right now, which spans probably 80 feet on my property.
Do I want to 'marry it'?

LOL!!!!

What sort of "demented spin" are you expecting the "extreme leftist groups" to say?

That he's cool, understands modern humanity, and has it together?
Not exactly a demented spin.

Proverbs 6:16-19 King James Version (KJV)

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Hmmm ... a proud look that conceives that theirs is the only interpretation of scripture that is correct?

Now, I'm not a specialist in scripture, nor do I claim to have the super secret magical decoder ring that allows me to read something that's not there into scripture ... but I ask you, among the "anti-gay" faction of Christianity ... how many of the seven listed above do the objective readers here generally detect?

Just a question.

Actually, the Kentucky Baptists have restored some small bit of faith in Christians ... seems that they are actually trying to walk the walk rather than merely talking the talk (incessantly.)

Ruth 1:16
For whithersoever thou shalt go, I will go: and where thou shalt dwell, I also will dwell. Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.
17 The land that shall receive thee dying, in the same will I die: and there will I be buried. The Lord do so and so to me, and add more also, if aught but death part me and thee.

One women vowing her love and devotion to another woman, in the Bible.

1 Samuel 20
David arose out of the place…and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed three times; and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.

O, Jonathan, slain upon the high places,

I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan;

Very pleasant hast thou been unto me:

Thy love to me was wonderful,

Passing the love of women.

Were Jonathan and David lovers? Sounds like it.

Why do you insist on confusing love with sex? Is that some product of extreme feminism?

I love many other males. I desire sex with none of them.

ok, what society club do they belong too? Buzzy has a thread for you to read through. Here is where most get confused. We do not judge the world, Yah does. But we as Christians have all rights bestowed upon us to be salt and preserve truth and if you claim you are a Christian then you are to be judged by all Christians using the Word for reproof. Its in the rules. Didnt you get the memo? If you do un Christ like things and do them in His name and call it good. You, or they are not Christian and we are not to even fellowship with them till they repent and turn from their error. Everyone feels free to go off script in these discussions always pleading to emotion.

If what I read from those calling themselves Christians on this thread; they disagree with you!!

Ironic isn't it that a religion based on the teachings of the "Prince of Peace" is so filled with those consumed with intolerance, hatred and bigotry? At least in this thread...not all but the most vocal certainly are with their spiritual arrogance.

lol, and yet you go about mischief attempting to trap others. Everything you just quoted judges you as soon as you added to it to make your claim. Its talking about you, lol. Everything you do is prideful and full of mischief here. You have made no honest attempts at dialogue. You google till your eyes and ears are tickled refusing to glean even the tiniest of morsels. You strain at the gnat, yet swallow the camel.

where and when did that happen? You do know that the pederasts are using the gay agenda and funding it to get their "born this way" laws passed dont you? We are starting to hear more of it all the time. You will have to change the name to lgbtnambla

Ahhh ... now Manna's true colors are starting to reveal themselves.

Homosexuals are all child molesters, or pederasts ... how many times has that battle been fought?

Let's review:

1. Manna2's argument discounts any and all scientific studies that dispute their opinion ... without citing even one reference in return.

2. Manna posts are the only ones that can properly interpret the Bible. (And yet, that's not a prideful statement).

3. Manna compares gays to child molesters and I'm sure those who indulge in bestiality, and yet, completely fails to understand how any gay person could possibly see such commentary as being hateful. Because, you know, we should just accept that we're damned and move on. Nothing to see here, in fact (if the inversion trend holds) I'm sure that's not an statement of hatred, but of Love, right?

We should be thankful that Manna is here to enlighten us, right?

Of course not. The thread should have been a celebration of greater understanding between two generally opposing groups, and yet, what we've seen here is nothing more than the same old garden variety hatred trying to camouflage itself as religious piety.

Was there an emoticon for vomiting blood? I need it.

Good lord! Why your words make me sound like the Devil himself? "Spreading mischief?" LOL

Manna, let me address to you clearly. Your posts here are chock-full of the most heinous bigotry. You've repeatedly stated long-debunked garbage about gays being equivalent to child molestation and bestiality. I don't think you have any conception of how out-of-touch and backward your posts appear to all but your fellow bigots who hide your hatred and vitriol behind a mask of Christianity.

Since you feel like you have the right to decide who should be considered a Christian, let me explain exactly why you yourself are the one who is stumbling around in darkness. First, your posts from beginning to end express pride and arrogance, unlimited by any sign of care, compassion, or attempts at understanding the reality of someone else's life. You are quite content do mock your God by standing in His place and deciding who can be saved and who cannot be. When any of these characteristics of your posts are pointed out, you simply lash out in projection and claim "No, it's you who are the sinner! You can't quote scripture."

I'm sure you're a more interesting and complex person in real life than you're presenting here. If you're not, I only feel sorry for you in your bitterness as exemplified in your posts.

What if the Kentucky Baptists are actually on to something? Have you thought about that? What if gays and lesbians are no worse sinners than all "who have fallen short of the glory"? Hmmm?

Best,

The evidence is that all 3 Monotheistic religions are against Homosexuality. That is all the Evidence I need.. You can pull the old Paul was a Pharisee or a traitor, do what you will but when it comes down to it, throughout history homosexuality has been condemned. That is undeniable regardless of what angle I'm coming from.

Women have been treated as inferior through out history. Should we let primitive idiots dictate what we do with them as well? The 3 religions you value above the rest make it clear women aren't worth much. When you rape a woman you have to pay her father 50 silvers, marry her and she can never be divorced. There is no compassion for the woman in that ruling. This god has no empathy for women, so why should we....right?

I'll take my chances breaking that rule and all the other ones that don't align with my moral compass.

What makes these 3 religions the most credible anyway? I'm not religious, but those 3 wouldn't be on the top of my list if I had to choose, not even the middle, they are on the low end.
