I don't mean to upset anyone's Independence Day vacation plans, but were these kids transported to the camps before or after they were deloused? Anyone who flies the friendly skies could be facing a public health concern.

“When they found out the kids had scabies, the charge nurse was adamant – ‘Don’t mention that. Don’t say scabies,’” the nurse recounted. “But everybody knew they had scabies. Some of the workers were very concerned about touching things and picking things up. They asked if they should be concerned, but they were told don’t worry about it.”

The nurse said the lice issue was epidemic – but everything was kept “hush-hush.”

“You could see the bugs crawling through their hair,” she said. “After we would rinse out their hair, the sink would be loaded with black bugs.”

A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say.

Scabies is not something new and dangerous to our population. It is caused from contact with sarcoptes mites, which can be found on our own pets....it causes mange. It is easily treatable.

If we approach the immigration problem with things like this, I fear we will never see any true reform. The only epidemic I fear is that of abject poverty.

I just don't know how we can pick ourselves up from where we have been if we continue to fund programs that house, feed and tend to in other ways a bulging immigrant population with tax dollars that are harder for us to earn than ever before.

America doesn't seem to be the only country in the world that's being driven to the breaking point.
I don't know what the future holds for the world, but I rest easy in the assurance that the rich will be alright; they'll just get richer somehow.

Our government is going to use these kids to further its' own agenda. The psychological and emotional damage from whatever foster care program they're put in will be far more damaging to them than any physical threat they faced in their own country. At home they would have love of family; here, they face some pretty heavy-duty emotional trauma.

Bet the GOP won't do squat either! They had chances before, but with this and Government Advertised In JANUARY For “Escorts” For 65,000 Illegal Alien Children if nothing is done, well, let's just say how much more proof do you need that our two party system is a fraud?

The sources say security forces called themselves the “Brown Shirts.”

You have to love our domestic security forces. Just what Obama promised.

As I stated in the other thread, any politician who knowingly supports illegal criminals entering the US should be arrested for being a traitor. These arrest warrants should be drawn up soon and enforced by militias. This is a health crisis waiting to happen. We can't proceed further until the proper people are arrested and tried for crimes against the united states.

I guess I would say that the most disappointing thing in this argument of border control/immigration is how deeply its steeped in ignorance. Scabies & lice are not going to kill anyone and are highly & easily treated. The healthcare workers are likely told to keep their mouth shut for fear of a HIPAA violations. The people being brought here are not criminals. Secondly, there is no evidence that greater border control will result in less violence, fewer drugs, or general crime mitigation.

We fail in lifting up our neighbors to ensure they are receiving the things necessary to live a complete & productive life (I mean our neighbors in Mexico) which would perhaps eliminate the need to flee across the border. We fail at ensuring our immigration system is run efficiently providing people the means to cross legally. We fail to look at solutions like changing our stance on drugs in this country which would perhaps completely change the violence associated with it. Lastly, we fail to remember if not for immigrants none of us would be here—is it fair that just because our ancestors made it in prior to some arbitrary point in time that somehow we have the right to be here more than any other? We have a responsibility to take care of our fellow man. We are privileged beyond measure in the US and have plenty to share with children – children who had no choice to the circumstances in which they were born and if you would rather see them starve or sent into the sex trade, than to spare a small amount of the plenty we have then I have lost all hope in humanity.

The abhorrent conditions bother me, yes. That this situation is snowballing is also bothering me; but for me the "shut up about what you see or be arrested" on American soil is what's kicking me right now.
The First Amendment is being flushed down the sewie hole, and there's people suggesting we go out and buy a box of Rid.

While comunicable disease IS a huge concern, especially for those who live a stone's throw away, there is a bigger concern...grab your popcorn, you'll want to mull this over.

MANY of these "children" are not small kids as the media loves to portray (and I'm still trying to figure out how those "toddlers" made it across on their own...)

They are 16-17 year old in close living conditions with little supervision...overcrowded so they say.

And yes, they ARE having sex...a lot of it.

I have not heard that condoms were being handed out with the toothpaste either.

So start thinking about the reprecussions say 10 months from now?

It's a REAL situation hat goes far beyond lice. And no, people aren't keeping their mouths shut either.

Being a EMT i know that HIPAA only applies if you put a name to the person with a disorder.

If you tell someone that john doe has XXXX disorder you violate HIPAA.

If you tell someone you treated someone for XXXX and do not identifie that person in any way you have not violated HIPAA.
Telling people that you were treating a few illegals for XXXXX AND XXXXXXX would not be a violation of HIPAA.
