Veteran entertainer Rolf Harris has been found guilty of indecently assaulting four girls. The 84-year-old was convicted of 12 attacks between 1968 and 1986. One of the alleged victims was a childhood friend of his daughter, Bindi. Another was aged seven or eight

Well another of my childhood heroes is headed to prison , I'm not sure how I feel about all of the retrospective action that's taking place here at the moment , on one hand yeah if you committed the crime then you should do the time but I can't shake the feeling that there's a witch hunt going on in the wake of Savile and justice may not be being served.

I'm not defending child abuse or sexual abuse I'm just not sure that most of these cases are either of those , maybe I'm wrong but I just have the feeling that there's an agenda going on to cover up for the mistakes made over the years with Jimmy Savile.

Witch hunt or Justice ?

Count One: A woman said Harris touched her inappropriately when she was just seven or eight while he was signing autographs in Hampshire in the late 1960s

Count two: Harris was accused of groping a teenage waitress's bottom at a charity event in Cambridge in the 1970s

Counts three to nine: A childhood friend of Mr Harris' daughter said he repeatedly indecently assaulted her between the ages of 13 and 19, including once when his daughter was asleep in the same room. He admitted a relationship with the woman, but said it began after she turned 18

Counts 10 to 12: Australian woman Tonya Lee, who has waived her right to anonymity, said he fondled her three times on one day while she was on a theatre group trip to the UK at the age of 15.

Don't think I know Rolf but I had someone here at my facility get only 6 months probation for molesting a child. Why are they so easy on them. Btw here=Ohio

Edit: went and looked him up. I do recognize him as the Tie me kangaroo down guy.

I feel the same too he was one of my childhood heroes. Maybe its a witch hunt although not too sure what is to be gained by this now, the guy is 84 years old, not that this is an excuse by a long shot. A friend of mine in work told me today that this is what "men" used to be like in those days it was quite common which actually shocked me a little, I really don't know if there is any truth in that.

The timeframe of assaults is very similar to publicist Max Clifford (1966 to 1984) and TV presenter Jimmy Saville (1970's).

So can we expect more celebs in the future going to prison? Maybe but sheesh, I hope not.

Gutted Rolph, I don't know what to believe anymore. I hope He-Man (aka Adam of Eternia) doesn't get accused of anything, Battlecat (aka Cringer) did have a slightly funny walk

I'm not buying it....

I refuse to believe for one second that he is guilty of any of these charges.

With Savile, it was pretty obvious by the end that he was guilty as sin....but not Rolf.

Either he is being used as a scapegoat, or the jury just didn't want to take chances in case he had done it.

It is my firm belief that the accusers in this case are either confused or fishing for fame/money.

Hopefully he will appeal and the conviction overturned.

My wife and i have been saying the same thing since this all started.

A witch hunt.

My theory is when all these entertainers were in their hey days back in the 60's and 70's...they pissed someone off, badly.

That someone became powerful, possibly civil service, possibly parliament or police, but they sure appear to have not remembered the immportal line: Be careful of who you tread on going up the ladder, as it does indeed seem there is a reckonning happening, and i feel it's due to someone who swore a long time ago that someday, somehow they'd get even with a whole group of famous people from that era.

They do say revenge is a dish best served cold...after 40 or 50 years waiting, this revenge is positively freezing.

I know people that have worked with Harris. A common nickname for him was the 'octopus' on account of his wandering hands.

I grew up watching his shows, especially Rolf's Cartoon Time and it's largely thanks to that show I'm such a huge fan of classic animation now. So a sad day but I don't think it's a witch hunt.

The Savile case has given those abused in the past the courage and backing to finally speak up. A shame that it has revealed such a beloved entertainer to have such a dark side but he must face justice and serve punishment for lives he has ruined. It wouldn't surprise if he takes the cowards way out.

There will be more names out there with secrets to hide. There will be more shocking/saddening cases to come. It won't be a summer holiday for all.

I don't think it's a witch hunt at all. Of all the high profile people who have been tried since Savile's demise, how many have actually been found guilty of any of the charges brought against them?

The only ones that spring to mind are Rolf Harris and Stuart Hall - and Hall got a VERY lenient sentence which had to be appealed against to get lengthened. Others, such as William Roache and the bloke who played Kevin Webster were acquitted.

I definitely do agree there is some scapegoating going on though. Harris obviously failed to play ball somewhere along the line, or he agreed in return for some cushy retirement in "prison", to take the fall. So it creates the illusion that justice is being done, and satisfies people. Yet the biggest monsters of all continue their evil deeds, learning from all the mistakes that were made in the past.

This isn't even the tip of the iceberg. The corruption runs so deep you cannot be sure justice will be done.

Who hired these Beasts throughout the 70s & 80s???

They should be questioned thoroughly as well!!!

This isn't a witch hunt... It's been a cover up... & the British justice system usually prevails unless it's the police...
So it's just yet another Nonce that I hope rots beyond his death!!!

Peace everybody!!!

Poor old Rolf is probably guilty as charged; you can tell a lot from simple observation. Did you see him being escorted into court every day by his loved ones? He looked like the condemned man being helped up the gallows steps.

And the charges are very serious (child molestation over a prolonged period being the biggie).

But these show trials are purely down to the 'Savile effect'; the horse has already bolted for one person and the authorities are going to make damn sure it doesn't happen again.

Not a good time to be an aging celeb, I fancy.

I would imagine the likes of Jimmy Page and Gene Simmons are in private consultations with the best lawyers money can buy.

I wish I could have given you more stars for your post!!!

Yes I bet many illusions have been shattered!!

The 'big cuddley bear' impression he liked to give of himself .... nice cover for
his perverted activities.

There's no witch hunt .... Pandora's box has been opened, and "the chickens are

Not sure if this is a reliable sorce of info & of course it's allegations of a victim. I was just linked to this-

Paints a very grim picture of recent developments & possibly more to come!! Who else was connected? Yes I think there's guilt on harris's part.

I would not be surprised if, and when one or both of her parents dies ....

It comes out that Bindi Harris too was a victim!?

Here in Perth they are remowing every thing to do with him from public display, and i applaud them considering he has been found guilty and all i dont believe all the cases against him are true though some of the stories have holes in them but he is definitely guilty..

Both my Husband and I discussed this, and we both had the same feelings both now and when we were younger.
He was always a very creepy man in the way he presented himself,
we both never admired him,
just the fact that he is saying that 12 people in all are ALL lying,
we do believe he is guilty.
and the Jake the Peg song - we always felt that there was something more underlying to this song, in our opinions.

I will say though, that my husband is an ex policeman, and over the years that we have been together he has more than proven his sixth sense on many things, including people, very rarely has he been incorrect. So his opinion, which also happens to be mine thankfully, is the one that I will take notice of.

Thats my 5cents anyways.

The activities of Harris and other "celebs" has been known for a very long time.
I think the reason it's all blown up recently and been given such a high profile, is to take the heat off others also guilty of similar or worse abuse, that would be very damaging to the old boy network and political / security state.

That grossly fat lump of lard Cyril Smith was also an abuser of young boys. I remember not so long ago reading an account from a retired (or possibly still serving) police officer who retrieved a file on Smith from a police station safe. A note attached, and accredited to the CPS, stated "not in the public interest". The officer then received a phone call asking him to send the file to Special Branch, and that was the last anyone saw of it.
Edward Heath, ex PM, was also alleged to have been rather a shady character when it came to abuse of minors. Makes you wonder just how many more current or retired high civil servants or politicians have such things to hide.
It also brings up the role of MI5 and Special Branch. They monitor and protect the elites, 24x7 and, as a result, know exactly what they get up to. Of course, that intel is passed back to the top and stored away for a bit of future political blackmail. That to me makes those organisations guilty of conspiracy in covering up the abuse.

Still, throw a few aging celebs to the wolves in the hope the public will eat it up and forget, then back to business.

Really good points. Other people must have known and the police and CPS have a lot to answer for but any investigations will obviously not be independent or objective.

It's a shame that all this couldn't have come out sooner, so that there were fewer victims, and so that there was more of an impact on the perpetrators.

The other thing is that operation yewtree etc seems to be focussing on "historic" allegations, but what about what's happening now? Have all of these old pedos stopped? Is there a younger generation of celebrity pedos that are now taking the place of these old guys that were around in the '70's and '80's, or was it really just "a different time"?

A witch hunt.

Oh really, it's nothing but an elite peadophile ring, Rolf isn't as high up - so he's been sacrificed.

I'm only 22.. I remember him 'having that look' as I grew up. I'm not surprised.

Ok, Ok.....if Rolf is guilty, then EVERY FAMOUS PERSON AND CELEBRITY is guilty too.

EVERY Rock and Roll star of the 1960s and 1970s had Sex with girls as young or younger than 15 years old. Every one of them.

It was VERY common and well known....girls/groupies threw themselves at their heros.

Rolf DID NOT have sex with all that accused him, except one, AFTER she was 18 yo.

He is accused of groping...Big F***n deal...EVERYONE groped in the 60s and 70s...I groped at discos, I GOT groped at discos (by women I hope

Women tourists, particularly white Anglo ones, got their bums pinched in Italy, on the street in broad daylight.

Every Media of the times showed "Bawdy" TV and Movie Behaviour. The "Carry On Mob" would all be accused of peodophilia these days. It was called slap and tickle, it was fun it was human nature, it was natural and part of the mating game.

Unfortunately the do good, hairy leg set and PC Nazis have turn ANY gesture of affection as something lewd behaviour that deserves to be punished.

Whats next, Fathers are banned from changing their childrens nappys (diapers) because they may see their "Rude" bits? Or heaven forbid, brush against them as they clean off the poo.

Unfortunately this is endemic of current modern old foggy PC Nazi Western Society.....No... "WHITE" Society, to put a dirty label on everything or anything that may be anything to do with Gender or Sex...whether or not it is ever intended to be a sexual thing.

Yet at the same time, we have an almost Epidemic of young teens and pre teens, quite happy to take selfies of their budding bits, to flash around to all and sunder.

Something does'nt add up now, does it.

Personally, I fear its another way people have found to suck ageing celebrities out of some of their fortune, by concocting and exaggerating something that was probably quite innocent, knowing the PC Nazi World will ALWAYs be on your side, not that mean dirty old man with the grey hair........even thought they may have raise millions for charity or whatever.

I can only imagine the like of Mick Jagger and co. quaking in their boots,in case all the 15yo they played around with come forward to protest....Oh I didnt really want ta do it wiv him in 1965...eee made me do it.

Its all a lot of $$$ bunk.
