If the system wasn't set up against me, I would have no issue adopting 1 or 2 myself.. but it is so I wont even try..

for the problem as a whole, the question you need to ask is how fast do you want the US to crash, I am of the opinion if we take on this crushing problem and try to do right by all the kids and their families when they show up the US has at best 5 years left... if we do what we should have done from the '80s actually monitor the border try to actually have border security actually reform immigration so its not a red tape nightmare, and maybe we have 10 years left.

so bottom line we cant afford it... we cant even really afford the reforms we need.

No problem Canada is wide open. We welcome immigrants.

Tens of millions of illegal ones? Good for you all! You can have them.

America welcomes a measured LEGAL immigration incoming. Tens of millions of illegals will break any nation. But if you think you can handle 'em all ... I encourage you to petition the Canadian gov't to take them all in ... legal or not.

With existing law you are correct...We could not afford it.

We can't afford hearing after hearing for every child.

We would have to streamline the adoption process.

These parents have forfeited their Rights.

When the child turns 18. They are free to return where they came from.

With at least some education. This is not a Free Pass for the entire clan to move here.

It would take many years of wrangling through the courts to get the law changed. In the meantime, the government has total oversight of these kids.
Are they going to build barracks for them to grow up in? That would probably be a better option than creating a foster care program specially designed for them.
The huge sums of money wasted on foster care, that never seems to get to the kids anyway, is well known. The basic monthly fee to foster one child- not counting medical, etc.- is far higher than the citizen lives on.
Corruption and abuse in foster care is rampant, and oversight seems non-existent.

These kids are being sent to our country to escape the drug culture and violence in their own. How is that different than what's going on in our cities?

If I lived in Detroit and had kids, I wouldn't dream of hiring a smuggler to take my kids to S.America in hopes of a better life. I would be fighting to get out of the city.

We intervene in all the ME crap on the pretense of bringing help and peace, so why the heck don't we send troupes to S.America to help them restore order? Do they not want our help, or is there some unseen agenda going on? This whole thing smells fishy.

I would love it if Americans could adopt some of these kids, or even help them- but we can't. It is not allowed because of our laws, and all the rules we have to follow. The government will 'help' these kids, in the way IT feels is best, at vast sums of tax dollars, the majority of which will go to administrative costs.

This whole thing stinks, and the kids are the victims- of not only their own country and parents, but of the US government. They're being used like pawns in a chess game, and one day we will figure out the real reason behind what's going on. I'm betting it's not good.....

I am talking about a bunch of abandoned children.

I guess you aren't aware Drug Cartels have taken over South America.

NAFTA, NWO ?

We have a tremendous chance to make a difference in some young people's life's.

We can't just hang a "Closed Sign" on America.

The parents, and their culture, don't see it that way. And when hundreds of thousands of relatives, with the backing of the gov'ts of Mexico and the rest of them down there, all pounding on the USA to let the illegals in ... it'll happen.

No worries though. Intrepid just said that Canada will take in tens of millions of illegals ... Canada will welcome them and will raise taxes and feed and house them all ... will pay for their medical care and schooling ... will build additional hospitals to take care of the overflow and all the diseases and problems they bring in which will backlog legal Canadians from getting their medical care.

Hats off to Intrepid .. he's going to petition Canada to take 'em all.

I am talking about tens of thousands of children who were 'sent ahead' and not abandoned. The birth families WILL be showing up. There is no question about it.

If they want to live off the Canadian taxpayers dime, then they'll have to learn how to make snow men and love hockey. You'll have to tell 'em to quit whining!

Why dont we just make mexico part of the USA God what a mess that would be....

Believe it or not, that is the plan. Do some research on the North American Union and the Amero! The globalists didn't plan this for nothing.

Plus the fact Obama is using the Cloward and Piven strategy to pull the whole thing off!

I can see it now. The United States of America, accepts defeat in the eyes of it's monstrous debt and holds out it's hands to the IMF and World Bank.

Think I'm joking??

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST,I JUST HAVE PLENTY OF THOUGHTS LYING AROUND

America has no idea of how sad the economy would be without immigrants, illegal or not, african, latino or asian.

A lot of immigrants come from third world countries.Countries that refuse to evolve,to push forward,to get better.Other countries have issues that are not so easily solved like the Cartels in Mexico or extreme poverty in Africa.

Real, honest, law abiding immigrants escape their homeland to get another chance at life since the concepts of hard work, investing time and long-term thinking are non-existant back home. But they are still alive in America, despite all the other socio-economic issues, it's still a place that is a hundred times better than home.

Sadly there's the other type of immigrants, the criminal scum.I do not know why these people do what they do, why would you move to a country where being a criminal is much more difficult than back home?

It's not fair to say ALL immigrants are rapists, drug smugglers, car jackers and thieves. I could make the same argument for ALL americans being pampered, spoiled, obese, narrow minded and ignorant.

Immigration needs to be seen as an opportunity, and there needs to be a large effort from the government and the CITIZENS to make the poor, illiterate, uneducated, unhappy and demotivated feel just a little bit welcome into this very large immigrant society called The United States of America, to become productive citizens.
This is a very real goal.

I know there must be plenty infertile families that would love to take one of these kids into their bosom and give them a home. The orphan ones of course.

But it is a very difficult situation for the ones that are not, they still have their parents back home. Those parents may or may not have the means to support their kids, but we can never forget the malice of the human being, and many will see their kids as a golden ticket to a better country. This is also a reality, some people are just irresponsible and willing to send their kids alone to the border,so they can come a few months later. Debate is the name of the game for now.

EDIT: I forgot to say, sending kids to the border is a very dangerous thing, and it'd be wrong for the authorities to send them back home, alone like they came. I've heard they want to militarize the border, well that doesn't sound so bad actually.

Isn't the military supposed to be protecting the geopolitic boundaries of the country? I don't know if the corruption of the mexican military has spread to the american one, that needs to be taken into account as well. Coyotes(human smugglers) have to be stopped as well, they've played a large role in letting criminals get into US soil too.

I didn't want to extend this more but if you talk about the border you HAVE to talk about drug trafficking.

Mexico is doing next to nothing to solve this, they can't do a think if they wanted too,too much corruption inside the military, too much easy money.
USA has the tools but isn't using them correctly, right now you have thousands of SWAT teams knocking down doors to catch small time drug dealers, wich are easily replaced by another small time drug dealer. You'd think that by 2014 the po-po would've learned something.

But you can afford to go to war with every country you meet and you can afford to pay billions to recruit terrorism?

I already said we can't afford it because money is wasted ... like Obama just this past week sending $500 million to Syrian rebels.

Bottom line - we can't afford it.

Actually it has nothing to do with Obama sending money anywhere....
You could pay for these kids by using the money that is lost in Tax Evasion & Tax Avoidance, it's a lot of money.

In the United States, the IRS estimate of the 2001 tax gap was $345 billion.[7] For 2006, the tax gap is estimated to be $450 billion.[8]

A more recent study estimates the 2008 tax gap in the range of $450 to $500 billion, and unreported income to be approximately $2 trillion.[9] Thus, 18 to 19 percent of total reportable income is not properly reported to the IRS.

People don't like hearing that though.... that ALL of the wealth and money gets sucked upwards.

People like to hate on the poor, vulnerable and weak.... it's the poor, it's the unemployed, it's those on income support, food stamps or whatever.

NO... it's not.

The problem is the tax laws flouted by corporations and wealthy individuals.

That's the way it works. An 'anchor' family member is here. Then the rest of the family makes claims to come in.

We can't hang a "Closed Sign" on America? Here is a little bit of enlightenment for you, guess what? America is CLOSED. I don't give a crap about Drug Cartels, and yes I am aware of them. But their problems and their children need to stay in their country.

Because this is my country, and I don't want to let in thousands of damn immigrants when Americans can't get a damn job!

I mean come'on, what happened to common sense?

I could care less about Immigrant Children, we need to take care of our economic situation in this country before we start letting thousands of immigrants pour in to this country. For what? So they can work under the table for Greedy Rich White Men, taking a job that a potential honest american could be working at?

Yeah let's let the cartels move in, they already are bringing their violence over the border. You didn't think through this one did ya? Come'on man!

Why should we treat them any different from US citizens?

Because they aren't US citizens.
They are a different culture.
And the intent isn't abandonment.

It doesn't matter. That's what the outcome was - a child abandoned. If they don't like it, they have one of two options: either take the child and a one-way ticket back to their country of origin, or face prosecution for child endangerment and still lose the kid and be deported with a criminal record.

We'll be having hundreds of thousands of people on the border demanding to be with their children. The US gov't won't say 'no you can't have your kids back'. And they won't just hand them over to parents without a court process determining if the kids can be released. So what happens is that those hundreds of thousands will be housed here in the USA while they await word on their children.

We can, and we should. They can wait on the Mexican side of the border. If Mexico doesn't like it, then they can stop encouraging people to do this and help us convince people not to send their children ahead.

If the family doesn't want to abandon their child, then they can take the kid and a one-way ticket home.

Bottom line - We can't afford it.

On that we can agree, but we can't afford it no matter how it's sliced and diced. So it's time to put our foot down. Every other country in the world can control its borders and sovereignty, but we can't? That's a crock.

No, the the money is not there. It just isn't. For one thing, we have 17 trillion in debt that should be paid off before we start footing the welfare bill of every poor latino in the world.

The greatest problem we have is misinformation. People simply do not comprehend why and how the economic policies of the post-war era are imploding. This whole agenda of socialism has sold a Utopian idea that the State is there for the people yet it is run by lawyers following their own self-interest. The pensions created for those in government drive the cost of government up exponentially with time. The political forces blame the rich and this merely creates a class warfare with no resolution for the future. Even confiscating all the wealth of the so-called rich will not sustain the system. Consequently, we just have to crash and burn and start all over again.

Right now, we see the acceleration toward crash and burn. It's Cloward-Piven. They want it to come down because they think it will secure their power.

The solutions from politics will always be the same – grab more power. We are in a downward spiral of liberty and how far we go down this path to the future will be determined by the people and if they at least wise up and see this is not class warfare, it is the people against government.

You're busy blaming the rich without understanding exactly how and why they got there. Some did it legitimately, and many did it through political power, but without those politicians enabling them, allowing themselves to be bought and using it to grab power, we wouldn't be here.

This is not going to end pretty. The question is when does society wake up? Just how high will this price be that we have to pay? They will blame the rich and the idiots will cheer – get them. What will happen when there is no more wealth to hunt? We end up with a communist state by default – no wealth, just career politicians who blame everyone but themselves.

And you may get your wish and destroy the rich, but the politicians will still be there and still in power. It will be too late then, for all of us.
