To the O.P. FlyersFan: I hope you don't think Fox News is legitimate, but I am glad you brought this up.

I have stated that both MSNBC and FOX are unreliable. I have stated that out of all the news machines out there, I think CNN is probably making the greatest effort to be accurate. They used to be the 'Clinton News Network' but, in my opinion, they've come a long way since then. Obviously they aren't perfect and they lean left, but I see them improving.

as soon as someone makes a thread calling out Fox news, that same majority instantly gets their jimmies all rustled and jumps in to defend Fox News.

This thread isn't a defense of FOX news. This is an information thread about MSNBC, exposing their lies and bias and race baiting, and I asked the exact same question that the FOX thread asked. This thread has nothing to do with FOX. It's all MSNBC.

I am surprised you have to explain this. Again.

It is like if you say you dislike the Dhalibama and people automatically think you love Bush.

Does Watching MSNBC Make You Ignorant and Bigoted?

i don't really think so, but it does make me angry and causes me to yell and scream at the tv.
especially that angry young man, er i mean that woman madcow and her look alike that could pass for her brother hayes.

Personally I find MSNBC too corporate it swings from wall-street/New York-libertarianism to popular(bourgoise) left-wing thought(gay rights, social justice)
only bringing up income inequality when it can be used to attack a republican, fox only seems interested in attacking anyone not sticking to GOP party lines.

frankly I find it mostly redundant/preaching to the choir, but fox does that too.

However sometimes I like it, just depends on the anchor.

a reply to: hounddoghowlie

say what you will about Maddow, but I find her less grating than hannity.

though you could say that's the thing with MSNBC, I find I want to punch their anchors in the face slightly less than I want to punch fox anchors in the face. Mostly because they have that quality of letting the other side have a token-turn to speak before interrupting them, they're smug, but they aren't as big of blowhards as fox pundits.

I'm not going to be persuaded that either one is a good news outlet by an attack on the other. I do want to point out that MSNBC might be a little better at hiding its bias than Fox News, which isn't even trying.

Interesting. See at least I know both are very biased. To say that either network hides it's bias well is to stick your head and the sand and sing at the same time. They are basically the same, Mirror images of each other for the most part.

It's a problem I have with those on the left, who I don't lump you in with Darkbake, since I don't know you: I know propaganda and bias, from my side and the opposition. It seems the left NEVER sees it coming from their own side, like somehow they are "better' than than or that their viewpoint is so overwhelming "right" that no one in their right mind would disagree with them. Hubris is something to watch in action.

It's why it's hard to debate those on the left, again I am not lumping you in with them. Their facts (which are tenuous or Opinions) can't be questioned. I must be crazy/stupid to disagree with them, in their world view. Regardless of my facts that I bring, it's like they don't listen/care about what I have to say. The most ardent "Progressives" I know are at the same time, the most closed minded/unable to see the other person's side. I find that dichotomy very weird.

Real liberals don't watch MSNBC. They remember the Bush years when MSNBC was more hardcore rightwing than Fox News. MSNBC at various times has employed Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, Alan Keyes, and Chris Tucker to name some of the most well known right wing crazies.

MSNBC did have the liberal Phil Donahue employed for a time but fired him the month before the 2003 Iraq war started. Gee I wonder why?

Liberals remember all this and do not watch the station. MSNBC is a chameleon that changes colors depending on what direction the political winds shift.

Nope. I missed nothing. You made your point and opinion very clear. So did I.

Obviously you did miss the point. My thread asked about stirring up hate against muslims through propaganda and disinformation. You counter that thread by creating your own talking about which news channel lies the most and is less factual.

I'd say you were way off the mark.

I don't have a side, but apparently you do.

Is that so? I believe that I have been quite consistent in saying that I don't have a political allegiance. I've also said that almost all of the media outlets are garbage. So what have I done to give you the impression I choose sides?

Nothing. Who's the one that got so butt-hurt about my thread that they decided to create a thread to counter it? Hmmmm?

I authored that thread to highlight a specific trait about FoxNews and that is the push for bigotry and hatred against Muslims. It's plain as day that anyone can see, but instead of you admitting what Fox is doing...you just say "well MSNBC sucks!".

Really?

If you want to create a thread talking about how bad MSNBC is, that's fine and I agree with you. But you still have not admitted that Fox is responsible to stirring up against Muslims.....and that was the point of the damn thread.

So tell me.....who's the one choosing sides here?

That's a lie. Show how anything I posted here lies or 'less factual'. Go ahead. Good luck with that. It's all factual. MSNBC sucks. Seriously sucks. Lies and race baiting. Only 15% of what it puts out is news.

Who's the one that got so butt-hurt about my thread that they decided to create a thread to counter it?

Grow up. My butt isn't hurting. Get over yourself. This isn't a thread to 'counter' the FOX thread. It's in ADDITION to the FOX thread. Deal with it.

instead of you admitting what Fox is doing...you just say "well MSNBC sucks!".

I already said FOX sucks and is untrustworthy. You are just sour grapes.

So tell me.....who's the one choosing sides here?

You are. And you are the one with your "butt hurting" ... not me. Care to actually comment about the topic - MSNBC - or are you just going to whine some more?

That's not what I said. Perhaps you need to re-read what I posted.

Are you serious? You must think we're all stupid to say something like that. Of course this thread was meant to counter mine. Other wise you would have made this info an ADDITION to my thread.

I already said FOX sucks and is untrustworthy.

Ok, I agree...but that was not the point of my thread. It was about hatred against Muslims. But like I said before, for some reason (butt-hurt or not) you felt the need to COUNTER my thread with this one. I have no problem with that, but at least you can be honest with yourself and everyone else to admit that you felt the need to somehow defend Fox by blasting the other side.

Ya know FF, you may want to zip up your fly......your bias is showing.

Claiming to be a mind reader now? Pathetic. I haven't defended FOX .. I stated clearly they suck.

Ya know FF, you may want to zip up your fly......

I have absolutely no idea what that's supposed to mean. (and I don't care, so dont bother attempting to explain it) I'm a 52 year old woman wearing shorts with no fly. Whatever. You are severely off topic. Quit whining and address the MSNBC topic or get off the thread.

Another thing that irks me is that the MSNBC crowd think they're "smarter" than the others. It's almost a guaranteed quality that you will easily find in most of them. They look down their nose at everybody. They even hurl insults such as: "uneducated", etc.. John Stewart had a segment on his show once that showed the intolerance that liberals have towards everyone else. It was right down racist in nature. I was surprised that JS would even have a piece like that on his show. I have it on DVR.

But this is not to say that the conservative right isn't the same way, because they are. One side is just as bad as the other. They don't care what's better for people. They6 only care if they win. Peoples lives mean nothing to them, just like politicians. That's what news medias and anchors have become: Lawyer politicians.

No need to be a mind reader. You laid it out in black and white for us. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to see why you started this thread and I think you are being intellectually dishonest...not to mention insulting our intelligence.

Also, the fly comment....it's an attempt at humor. Sorry that it went over your head.

On topic:

Yes, MSNBC sucks. They lie, distort, have an agenda, etc. I will give them credit in that they have better artistic style and writing abilities than the other news networks. CNN is dry and boring and Fox is like watching a greasy used car salesmen telling you to buy from them...because that's what God would do. Pure propaganda.

That's what I think. It's a good thing I don't watch TV anymore.

I'm fascinated by the way some people think liberal, socialist, communist, leftist and progressive mean the same thing.

I'm bemused by the way some people describe corporate media, while it may be socially liberal, as leftist.

I think it's been hammered into our heads over a decade or two of conservative talk-radio/rabble-rousing.

There was an interesting article in a journal/magazine that I think caters to many on the right-wing, but that I found quite interesting;

I would say yes it does, anyone that I have met that watches MSNBC thinks Obama is the best POTUS since Clinton. Rich people should give more money and be taxed higher, minimum wage is to minimum, Hillary is the second coming, Chris Matthews is the smartest guy on TV, and it's ok if Obama lies they all do it. That in itself makes me want to ralph all over the keyboard.

The truth is so convoluted with innuendo and half truths from MSNBC I don't know how it couldn't make you this way with a daily brainwashing the viewership receives.

Excuse me Obama is speaking on the tube, and I have to throw a rubber brick at the screen.

I don't think it makes people ignorant or bigoted. I think people watch it for the same reason that people watch Fox, it backs up what they already believe to be true, whether it is actually true or not. As was already said before in this thread, FOX and MSNBC are two sides of the same coin. To add... they are serving the same purpose.

I personally don't watch any of the cable "news" stations. They hurt my soul

Watching it doesn't make you ignorant....choosing to turn it on and watch it does.
That goes for the other thread with the same title with fox news instead of msnbc.

I really wish people would get a clue and quit buying into the corporate propaganda while choosing to watch that garbage and asking if it makes you ignorant.
Choosing to watch it clearly does.

Here is a link for you guys asking this question over and over again.

Agree. Actually, good thing to diversify info sources to stay informed for real. See what both sides have to say. A little bit of history on a personal enthusiasm will get you miles on what is going on in a world.

Abstract thinking is the key. But you have to be free of dogmas by nature to begin with.

my 2 cents. cheers)
