Just another example of intellectual dishonesty from the left.

I rarely watch tv at all anymore, but I used to like MSNBC. They were biased, but they were factual for the most part. I knew they had a slant and it was acceptable because they did not insult my intelligence.

Fox News insults my intelligence. They produce content and say things that, if I said it to someone in real life, would be dismissed at laughed at.

What's the fixation with Fox News lately?
I watch because they cover many things the other media won't touch, it doesn't mean I believe everything they say. Maybe they are slanted, but which network isn't? There is not a news network out there who doesn't put their own particular spin on a story. They are all owned by companies that want the world ran their way and it's going to reflect in the reporting.
If you're worried about opinionated views, MSNBC is the one to keep an eye on.

www.forbes.com...

If you’re like most cable news viewers, you probably think the channel you favor has a monopoly on the facts and the other ones are nothing more than a bunch of ranting. In fact, which cable network is the most opinionated is not a matter of opinion. It’s MSNBC.

A full 85% of the Comcast-owned network’s coverage can be classified as opinion or commentary rather than straight news, according to the authors of the Pew Research Center’s annual State of the News Media report.

CNN and Fox News Channel, meanwhile, fall much closer to a 50/50 distribution, with Fox News skewing somewhat more heavily toward opinion.

Yep, mistrust of muslims after 9/11 is the republicans fault, poor innocent muslims... Seriously?
Did you even type that with a straight face?

This is the sort of thing that irks me about Fox.

Men caused 9/11 to happen. They happened to be Muslim (poor Muslims from what I understand) therefore we must keep our eye on them Muslims.

And what do the Republicans have to do with this? I'm talking about Fox.

But see, here's the thing - You call Fox biased and full of lies because they don't conform to your personal worldview. What you do with Fox, I can do and have with CNN. You see the world through a more left-leaning schema, and it colors your perceptions of what the "truth" ought to be and is. I'm the opposite.

When I was learning about journalism at college, I learned how it works. You do report the basic facts of the Ws and the H, but the reporter is supposed to rank them according to what is most important. How a reporter does that is biased by his or her personal schema. If you are right-leaning or left-leaning, those rankings will be different. Additionally, the words you would choose will also be different.

I still don't understand.

Fox (the evil hated bad Fox) gave time for a Muslim to speak about Ramadan.

And that makes them (or those who read/watch) ignorant and bigoted?

I hope everyone posting in this thread takes the time to actually read the article before making blanket opinions on the subject.

So, this is an altruistic move on the part of Fox News?

Who cares?

Is it bigoted and/or ignorant?

Did you read the piece Beez? I'm sure you did. Why would there be a need to write such a condescending piece if there was no demand for it? Do Fox readers really thing that the Muslim next door is making bombs instead of omelets?

Not all, of course, but there are many ignorant people out there that have such a fear and Fox News is responsible for some of that.

Maybe, as I submitted earlier, because they are well aware of the stereotypes of their viewers and have a *gasp* sense of humor?

fox rules!

from bret to hannity! (6-10pm)

i wish my server didn't take red-eye out of the line up.

i wouldn't give those other stations the time of day. in fact i dropped them from my cable channels, no need to waste money.

i get all their bs and then some, here for free.

i think the left wing stations and media are the bigoted and ignorant ones.

proof? just watch a few minutes of it.

But do you watch anything else?

nope, used too.
had all of them, hln, cnn, cnn international, bbc, skynews, etc.
didn't get msnbc, cbs, abc or nbc.
i think i have or had al jezzera.

i used to like meet the press.
couldn't imagine watching al sharpton or maddow. that would just be crazy.

in fact, i have only been watching fox for the past 5 yrs or so. never had or watched them in the past or in the states.

never listened to rush, either.

like i said, i get all the left and more here and other forums.

I didn't see it as condescending. I saw it as a "chill out people" piece.

The news is ISIS 24/7 lately. It's good to have a rational piece that doesn't feed the fears that all media is vomiting out.

But there is plenty of ignorance to go around and the left is equally responsible for playing on it. Witness the Huffington Post's recent brilliance of telling their readers that if we don't all go vegan, we'll kill the planet. That's clearly playing on ignorant Global Warming hysteria.

Are you assuming I'm a leftist? Well, I happen to be a commie-capitalist socialist conservative. I have many different ideas and opinions when it comes to policy and politics.

That being said, I do not support the Democrat party..nor have I ever voted democrat. So I would not be so quick to assume.

Myself I look at these information outlets, along with Alex Jones, drudge report, newslink.org, corbett report, boiling frogs post and others ...

Some are much more reliable than others but each has portions of the truth but I have found only a very few to say honest truth ....

and I often come to ATS to look at the debate of the news for different perspectives....

sheeple who get their news from the MSM or one news source are looking more for affirmation of their personal beliefs ... not truth and honesty .....

And the continued attack on conservatives begins in 3. . . 2. . .

All silliness aside, it's an opinion piece. Are we going to judge a network based on an opinion piece?

Might as well judge ATS on one thread.

Unless I'm missing something here.

(Will give you time to clarify)

So an attack on FoxNews is an attack on conservatives? Bit short-sighted to state that all conservatives are like the paid shills at Fox.

Not at all. Many will use this as an oppourtunity to attack conservative ideologies though.

Ahhh well of course. But those would be those at the exact polar opposite point, and to be honest, without either polar opposite, along with their respective "news and opinion organization," which actually tend to cancel each other out, you are left with the majority of normal, average people. People who live in the real world know this, know they are the vast majority, and go about their lives, usually feeling there is no accurate representation of and for htem in the "news and media."

Deflection. Are you agreeing that FoxNews is trash and pedal fear/hatred?

If you want to talk about the leftist media outlets, lets start another thread.

Hello Beezer .... Today the MSM is nothing more than propaganda... there is not much else to say about it .... There is always an agenda with the broadcast news. They carry all the same stories in the nightly broadcast news because they are all in the same bubble ........ Those of us outside the bubble are well ... crazy ... a reply to: beezzer

The article reads like a desperate attempt to properly inform viewers of what to expect regarding Muslims and Ramadan. I guess there is no better audience to inform, than those of Fox News though...

No, I'm just pointing out that if you think this was written as way to pander to ignorant people, then that is hardly something unique or new. It's done all over because there are plenty of ignorant people. Our society is designed around ignorant people because the elites have set us up to have a large number of ignorant, emotional people who do not think for themselves. If you can't think for yourself, then you can't rule yourself either and need to be governed. It's much easier to tell you what you know, too.

But I digress, I don't think that's what this was. I was merely responding to your argument in kind.
