This has Very Interesting Black Project written all over it.

My thoughts precisely... I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread - I'm very interested in what you and all of the lively chaps here at ATS come up with.

I'm not sure there's too much debate here though...

It's almost assuredly one of the following... Two escorts tailing a black project, two escorts tailing one of Russia's black projects, or two escorts tailing an alien. I like the latter suggestion, but I have to assume one of the first two, and it's more likely the first.

Good stuff Zaph; I'll be pretty curious what turns up.

Lol thanks. I partially gleaned that from some of the latter posts. What a dunce. Thanks for the short and sweet.

Wait are you hinting that even the B3 will be able to be low supersonic and still be VVVLO? Or are you hinting that the B1 replacement will still be low supersonic and the B3 almost supersonic but not quite?

Surely we will have news about it next year, for instant we have just supposition on it, the thing hyper cool will be a derivative bomber of the SR-72 but I doubt it will be ready with the time and money for 2025. If something stealth and supersonic coming in this program it will be at least pretty cool, I hope we don't fall in subsonic for another 30 years with the LRS-B.

High subsonic/ low supersonic is best for VVLO.

That's the Lockheed bird.

Lockheed Martin produced this impression of a long-range strike (LRS) design for the U.S. Air Force in 2007, before a secrecy clampdown banned contractors from discussing the program in public.

www.ainonline.com...

Very cool. Psyched you got to see her.

THAT one looks more liek a Fighter/bomber or a PAK fa/su terminator terminator.

Looks bigger than a fighter bomber to me. Look at how tinsy the windows are in relation.

Way better looking than a PAK. But I may be a little biased.

In my opinion VVLO will become obsolete in a near futur , a new system based only with low observable will be vulnerable to the futur new generation of SAM like the S-500, a mix of speed and stealth will be need to evade this type of defense. For the Punkin sighting it look more of a supersonic plane.

You have no idea how many times VLO/VVLO has become obsolete because of some new system. Stealth isn't sitting still while counters evolve.

You can detect (approximately) stealth planes with low freq radar, but not accurately enough for a good firing solution & tracking. And a missile has a much smaller diameter than a large ground-based antenna needed for low freq radar.

And ECM might be easier at low frequencies.

Sure but there is a need to reduce the time to going on the battle zone and subsonic need a lot of hours to do the job. With the high distance like the Pacific zone at least a supercruise like the F-22 will be an advantage.

This is where we talk about the ADVENT engine....

No. He said it will be. I said it was because of the Rapier, CELLDAR, UHF radar, the S400, S500, etc. As in, every time a new system comes out it allegedly makes it obsolete.

And it's not only still here, others are building their own stealth fleets.

Zaph rumor has it there is a type of skin out there that absorbs a wide spectrum of microwaves like a sponge. Wonder if that might be helpful for low frequency radar absorption too.

Darksidious what happens when you want a platform with a loiter or long time "on station" capability that you also want to be VVVLO observable? They will always need something to perform that type of mission and I bet they have crazy ways of making things invisible. Crazy ways. You'll need something that can absorb a wide spectrum of microwave energy. And you'll need it to be real hard to see or detect visually. Optical Camo is one way but there's probably a even better way out there to do this.

Or what happens if you want to be able to do low altitude passes over something without being noticed visually. I mean low like below 1000 feet. I bet they have a way to do this.

VVVLO is just ramping up in ways we can't even see. And the best part is it's not even the crafts fault YOU can't see it. I mean it is but it isn't. or as J-Rock would say "g'nomsayin?"
