Thats just a fireball/meteor.

Shes not travelking across the sky that fast youll have a few seconds (at least 5 or more in my estimate) to view her.

Remember boys and girls, the only man-made thing in the atmosphere which travels as fast as a meteor is a ICBM re-entry warhead.

They can go from the top of the stratosphere to detonation height in 3-4 seconds.

ICBM attack: [see white dot moving fast] hey, look at that meteor! three one thousand four BOOM

no weird California sightings for that one pls

Need something like this next time pictures of TS craft are taken.

May I suggest one of these Fujinon HK5.3x75 4K super-telephoto cine zoom lenses:

See link:
www.fujifilm.com...

I think we paid a good and cheap $112,000 CANADIAN ($96,000 US) for ours.......

Performance on a Canon C500 at 60 FPS (use a high shutter speed
at say 1/1000th or 1/2000th of a second) is FIRST RATE !!!!

use MANUAL focus ONLY --- i.e. focus by HAND on a decent tripod!

THIS will get that sort of footage....but I can say from personal experience
that crisp and sharp focus will be a B***** to get....you need to practice!

if you don't need ultra high end perfromance on video
and can do a stills camera try this lens for super telephoto:

It's not cheap either but performance is an incredible
300mm to 800mm with VERY FEW chromatic artifacts!

Sigma 300-800mm F5.6 EX DG APO HSM
The Ultimate Telephoto DSLR Zoom

www.sigmaphoto.com...
Price: $7,999

www.outdoorphotographer.com...

When telephoto lenses are a bit beyond your budget and
when you really need β€œreach,” you can turn a $600 to $1,200
300mm SIGMA or CANON telephoto lense into a 600mm by
attaching a $300 2x teleconverter between the lens
and camera body.

THAT is the least expensive option and MANY good
if older Sigma used super telephotos can be found
for $600 to $1000 on ebay!

Give that a try for your DSLR!

and FINALLY, you could try for a Nikon Coolpix P900 series DSLR
with 1920x1080 Video capability AND a built-in 83.3x (equivalent
to 2000mm) ZOOM LENS for only $789 US ... just remember to
put it on a good tripod and you're all set to go for those really
long zoom shots!

links:
snapsort.com...

Review of Nikon Coolpix P900
www.photographyblog.com...

The Nikon Coolpix P900 has the BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK
of all the options I have listed above!

It also takes GREAT stills and video --- so I would say
if you have less than a $1000 to spend, then buy this
camera and a decent tripod for long-distance still photos
and video imaging!

===

And finally FOR BEST Stabilization you need a multi-axis
GYROSCOPIC camera stabilizer so that your long range
telephoto photos and video DO NOT have any shake
or blur (again make sure you ALWAYS turn AUTO IRIS
and AUTO-FOCUS on your camera to OFF and do a
MANUAL focus and IRIS, especially at night or
in evening - use the FOCUS PEAKING option
to find the perfect image sharpness !!!!!!)

----

Low-cost DIY camera gyroscopic stabilizer:
makezine.com...

----

Expensive but REALLY GOOD Movi FreeFly hand-help and vehicle mount camera stabilizer:

freeflysystems.com...

around $5000

----

This is the BEST GYROSCOPIC camera stabilizer for tripod and hardpoint mounting:

Kenyon Labs USA:

Which one to Buy:
www.ken-lab.com...

Mini-review:
luminous-landscape.com...

They range fom $1200 up to $6000 US and more!

but they will ABSOLUTELY keep camera shake down to MINIMAL levels
and if properly calibrated and mounted EVEN COMPLETELY ELIMINATE
any camera shake and blur!

---

If you want LOW-LIGHT photography a good used
Sony A7s Mark 1 or Sony A7s Mark 2 are the TWO
BEST cameras for low-light photography!

Sony A7s 1 and 2 series review:
www.youtube.com...

and

www.youtube.com...

He also shows off Vancouver BC Canada at night which is where I live!

For best image quality and colour rendition,
I would suggest Canon 5D mark 2 and Canon 5D Mark 3

Bodies are around $950 USED for
Canon 5D Mark 2 and about $2000
for the canon 5D Mark 3.

Canon 5D Mark 2 with Glidecam:
www.youtube.com...
(high quality example video of Vancouver Island footage)

Get the Sigma Art Series 50mm and 85mm F1.4 Series lenses
for best sharpness at decent prices $900 to $1050 US for the
50mm and 85mm

Get a higher end used Sigma 300mm for $1500 and spend
$300 on a 2x teleconverter to turn that 300mm Sigma into
the equivalent of a $7000 600mm premium Canon telephoto lens.

You can also use almost ANY type of cheap or expensive camera
to get GOOD stable video IF you practice....see this AWESOME
example of breathtaking Whistler/Blackcomb Ski Resort drone footage:

www.youtube.com...

P.S. Whistler is 2 hours drive north of Vancouver, Canada

See more decent camera work using cheap GoPro-style camera:
www.youtube.com...

It's all about skill and patience! The camera really just
plays a SMALL part in getting good photos and video !!!!

YES! but to get a good PHOTO and VIDEO of the Green Lady,
SOMEONE HERE on ATS needs to outline HOW to to get it!

HOPEFULLY I just gave enough clues on how to do that
using inexpensive gear or good camera skills!

So peoples! Have at it and get those cheap telephoto lenses
and telescopes to MANUALLY focus and MANUALLY Iris using
a Tripod mounted DSLR or HD video camera so that we on
ATS can get a CLEAR video or still photo OF the Green Lady!

How? Do you live in Kansas, Texas or the Ohio/Wisconsin area of the USA?

In my case, it's damn hard for me to film Kansas or Texas
over-the-horizon from Vancouver, Canada and sending you
a hundred thousand dollar lens and a Canon C500 gives our
insurance company the heebie jeebies! So what technical
or location advantage have you got that could give us
ATS-ers a DECENT and SHARP Green Lady photo?

I was kind of suggesting to ask and/or pay Russia
for a decent satellite/aerial photo or three...they
MUST have a few SOMEWHERE that they might
share for the right price!

tsk tsk...now that was just being a tad sarcastic.... ;-) :-)

I am curious however if Russia or China would LIKELY have photos
and just haven't shared or been cajoled with enough moolah to
release them .... I mean they only have to cover and watch
9.834 million square kilometers (6.110 Million Square Miles)
for only 24/7 and 365 days of the year with their 40 satellites!

Should be a Piece of Cake for Russia and China!

StargateSG7,

I live in Wisconsin, what's flying overhead that I need to look for? About 4 years ago I saw the orange light that zigzaged the sky, some jet turning on a dime, and Zaphod verified that it was a manned craft. That was a special sight. What should I be looking for now? I'm a photographer so I have the gear.

Think green Meteor, but more laser like, and not burning out. It'll go from horizon to horizon at a steady green intensity.

GREAT !!!! --- BUT I IMPLORE YOU ---- PLEASE oh pretty please
TURN OFF AUTO-IRIS shoot at around F4 at dusk and TURN OFF
AUTO-FOCUS --- use focus peaking to get a sharp picture.

There are two more craft --- One is all-silver that
looks kinda like this body type:

upload.wikimedia.org...

or this body type:

upload.wikimedia.org...

it's likely been left at the dull all metal aluminum looking and lengthwise
is about my guess 60 to 80 feet long but its performance is AMAZING !!!
It will twist and turn like you won't believe! You MAY see a small exhaust
but it shouldn't really be there!

The second aircraft possibly looks like this one:

files.abovetopsecret.com...

Deep dark purplish blue/black in colour.
You might see something called shock
diamonds out the back like as below:

jazzroc.files.wordpress.com...

Go get it!

REMEMBER use a FLUID HEAD tripod,
zoom in tight --- stop your iris DOWN
until you see some colour in the exhaust
that is NOT solid bright white --- I can bring
out the outline when you underexpose
far better than if you overexpose the camera.

Adjust focus ring until you see "sparkling" or aliasing
on outline edges of the craft...this indicates
Sharp focus. DO NOT USE AUTO-FOCUS ---- !!!!!!!

If you're near Finley, Wisconsin or near Madison
or anywhere north of the Chequamegon-Nicolet
National Forest those are your best bests as those
flights are going over Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan
and back down into Ohio!

The one I call the Silver Bug will be flying
LOW following mountain ridges ... it's near
silent so you won't hear much of anything!

The sleeker craft will be flying high
60,000 to 95,000 feet --- you'll need
a 600mm up to 2000 mm Canon or
Sigma telephoto lens or use a Nikon
Coolpix P900 with those built-in
almost-ridiculous 83:1 zoom lenses!

With the green lady you won't see much zig zagging around, she's going too fast.

if anyone can get the Green Lady get her too!

But the ones I outlined above are from OTHER long-term
on-going programs no-one has gotten clearly yet, EXCEPT
for the Silver Bug of which I personally have seen a mere
15 seconds worth of older SDTV VIDEO footage showing
it's AMAZING maneuverability!

Wow thats frighteningly accurate. The silver bug does do all sorts of crazy manuevers.l believe the origional test artical was called the YT1300. I heard some folks have amazing footage of it flying low over the desert.

That exactly correct zaph.

Laser like and focoused. Homogenous and consistant. Very pretty.
