Do you even understand what she did? The senator did not break the law. She wanted to audit him for NOT breaking the law. Let me break it down for you, since you obviously didn't even read the article the OP linked . She received an e-mail meant for a Republican senator. The e-mail was an invitation. The invitation included an offer to pay for the senator's wife's attendance. IF he had accepted that offer, THEN AND ONLY THEN, he would have been required to report the payment of his wife's attendance as income. So the NEXT YEAR he would have been obligated to file it on his taxes. There was no reason based on this e-mail to even suggest an audit because he can not even report it as income for that year until April of the next year! Besides that, he didn't even accept the invitation.
