Oh yes, Terminator type robots patroling the streets of Fallujah!
Heat seeking, laser guided drones with water cooled M249's mounted to deter the bad guy. These puppies can take direct shots from RPG's and still return fire. How Cool!!!

ORLANDO, Florida -- Hunting for guerillas, handling roadside bombs, crawling across the caves and crumbling towns of Afghanistan and Iraq -- all of that was just a start. Now, the Army is prepping its squad of robotic vehicles for a new set of assignments. And this time, they'll be carrying guns.

As early as March or April, 18 units of the Talon -- a model armed with automatic weapons -- are scheduled to report for duty in Iraq. Around the same time, the first prototypes of a new, unmanned ambulance should be ready for the Army to start testing. In a warren of hangar-sized hotel ballrooms in Orlando, military engineers this week showed off their next generation of robots, as they got the machines ready for the war zone.

Not sure about this. If a soldier is fired on then he returns fire because he may be killed. Lets say a machine is in the street and someone is firing on it from a roof top. Can't destroy the building, there might be innocent people in it, heck what if its known that there are? To protect a machine? Not sure if its really ethical at all. At the very least, they could decide that the machine, being just a machine, can be used more dangerously than a soldier would. Having it chase after the shooter until they have a clear shot. Obviously this would have to be weighed against having the machine destroyed and letting the shooter get away, but if there are squads of machines, then this might not be a problem either.

They wouldn't bother putting on of them into enemy territory! They'd put about 20 in so they could do a better job...
