Here are a few things that I've noticed that make my brain angry. I am not even talking about just ATS or Facebook, I've seen this many times in novels and newspapers.

Definitely... Definitely.. Please not defiantly or definately. (The one time I praise autocorrect)

Supposedly vs. Supposably: GRANTED, I hear this one more than I read it, but still. Supposably, you're dumb. Which brings me to the next observation..

Granite: I have seen people use the phrase "take it for granite" too many times! I now take for GRANTED the fact that I will see so many fb posts containing this error! UGH!

"An" before "an" word that starts with "an" consonant "H".. Ex. I am an honest person=OK, I am an happy person=DIE. Either become an unhappy person, or stop writing things.

Please add your pet peeves of internet spelling or grammar below and add to the list.

P.S. I know that I've probably messed something up on this OP and I don't care, becurzz.. 'Merikuh!

This rant is hella of stupid! Maybe you shouldn't of posted it!

Ok fine, I'll be serious. For some reason it really bothers me when people use 'conscience' and 'conscious' interchangeably, incorrectly.

Great question!
To start, I'm an overly paranoid person, and I see this systematic "dumbing down" of America to be a result of a combination of: fluoride chemtrails (is that it..?), radioactive shampoo, and evil hordes of George Bush reptiles.

No really though, if you make an intelligent argument and spell like a moron, it's disrespectful to yourself and everyone else.

Yeah, I'm like that with spelling such words/sayings like "Crikey Mate!". Not "Cricky Mit!" (As some across the Tasman say). Or "Strewth" (sometimes spelt Struth or struthe).

Def...Defin..Definetly gets on on my go at. I mean goat mate.

Kind Regards,

Bally

If the OP is anything like me, it's a bother because of my slight OCD tendencies and dysfunctional sense of perfectionism.

Lol what a funny thread.

I always tell people who go out of their to correct other peoples's spelling that they are obviously compensating for something. Just because you can spell and someone else can't, doesn't make you anymore intelligent than they are. I see it as something people do in order to make themselves feel better.

Just my opinion anyways.

The real reason for most of your examples is the modern practice of "spell-as-you-pronounce", developed by the non-reading internet generation, combined with sloppy pronunciation.
The worst case I know is the dropping of the "t" from "can't", so there is no way of telling whether "You can do that" is giving permission or refusing permission.
Which illustrates the point that the loss of standard spelling is a bad thing, because it interferes with communication.
