Your opinions differ from mine, so you are stupid!

How about, instead, we say, "Your opinions differ from mine, so you are wrong. Let me explain."

What the hell, people?

So if you believe God created the earth, you're stupid?

How about, if you believe in conservative policies, your IQ is low. What the???

Lately there have been some doozies, thread-wise.

It's not enough to be wrong.

Now a caveat; If I've ever called anyone stupid for having a different opinion, then I was wrong. Of course, YOU are wrong for not having the same opinion as me, but being wrong doesn't make you stupid.

I know this is a simple rant, but why can't people just "agree to disagree"?

Why does it have to go another step and consider someone "stupid"?

If you're a(n)
Atheist
Liberal
Progressive
Commie
Socialist

I won't consider you stupid. I will point out your errors, where your opinions are wrong, I will disagree. . . . but I won't call you stupid.

I hope others take this to heart.

As always, with any of my threads, you are welcome to read, reply, ignore, or simply pretend like you are a robot bent on destroying Sarah Connors when you are in a crowded elevator.

It's up to you.

I have noticed this a lot lately as well. Calling people dumb or their views stupid. I just chalk it up to lack of home training. Like when you have a dog that keeps peeing on the carpet but everyone is too lazy to teach it to go outside. Maybe that's what happened with these folks when they were pups... er... kids.

Sometimes you just have to shake your head and move along.

ETA - That I have actually stepped into a few threads I would not have posted in when I see someone going above and beyond on a poster lately. Usually if you call them out on it, they are too embarrassed to even come back to the thread and keep up their shenanigans. I usually would not step into someone else's business but one poster was new and another was just getting slammed. If everyone did this when they saw it happening, it might cut down on some of it.

Noticed that for awhile now ..

My usual policy is just quietly find another topic to read rather than waste time explaining to someone who's mind is firmly set on whatever ideology they believe ..

In real world just politely agree to disagree with them and carry on ..

Life to short to waste arguing over alot of the idiotic things people argue about and in the long run most of what they argue over doesnt mean a damn thing ..

Starred and flagged.

I don't even think someone is always wrong simply because they don't agree with me. In fact, I rarely think that.

There are matters of basic facts where people can be wrong. But in matters of opinion and belief, it's much harder to say someone is wrong.

Their opinion could be wrong for me. But it may not be wrong for them.

Oh bunny....*sigh*....I'm with you on this one!

I believe that we all have the right to our beliefs. Different isn't wrong, it's just different.

I was participating in a thread with opposing opinions, and after I had written a few relevant replies...a member decided to respond to me by telling me my avatar was 'stupid'.
Whaddya say to that?
Something funny of course, lol!

I have one individual who tries to bait me but he is set to ignore; he is the most ignorant ill informed individual imaginable if you check his profile he always starts off to people he talks with an insult like' obviously english is not your first language' or such ;he is either a shill,a troll or just plain stupid the best thing to do is set such people on ignore as they derail good threads. You cant argue with stupid people they bring you down to their level then beat you with experience.

Humor is an excellent way to take the wind out of their sails. What they want to do is piss you off as bad as they "feel" you have pissed them off. When they realize they can't do that, they have no choice but to move along and find someone else who'll play their game.

I probably overuse the humor myself, but it is who I am. I saw the avatar comment. You handled it nicely. Some people...

Well, anyone that has anything against Danaerys Targaryen is an idiot and there is just no arguing that is a fact.

I don't think anyone can judge whether or not someone is stupid based on their ability to defend a position.

Sticking your hand in a running lawn-mower is stupid.

Being a bad debater is not.

Has anyone else noticed that school is out and that usually brings in an influx of bored people with too much time on their hands (and usually bad manners)? Or maybe that doesn't happen here, but it's happened on almost every other forum I've ever been on.

Perhaps, if a person comes off as less informed, it could be a responsibility to inform them instead of just disregarding them.

Beez - I have to disagree. Can we agree to disagree?

My "opinion" differs from yours, so I'm "wrong"? That's ridiculous. You are no more right than I am wrong, and vice versa.

You will point out my "errors" and where my "opinions are wrong" -- and I should be grateful that you don't call me stupid, just wrong?

My opinion cannot be wrong, as it is my opinion. Same with yours. An opinion is just that. An opinion.

Same with beliefs. My beliefs are mine. Yours are yours. They aren't wrong to us. They aren't stupid to us.

I'm usually with you oh Bunny of Greatness, but not on this one

It's all good.

But say we were discussing the merits of brussel sprouts.

I like brussel sprouts. Now if you don't, and provide reasons, I would consider you wrong. Because brussel sprouts are awesome!

But I wouldn't consider you stupid, simply because you didn't agree with me.

And that's the point.

We may disagree.
I may think you are wrong in your thinking, in your opinion.

But in no way, would I consider you stupid.
