Not really, because for the "c" to be an "ess" sound (such as in "receive"), it needs to be proceeded by an "e". The "e" is what give the "c" an "ess" sound when it is in the middle of a word.

What about neighbor and weigh?

So what you are saying is gut feelings are always right...Hey, George W Bush agrees with you. Maybe that's why we found WMD in universe B.

You see what you do? People have taken the time to actually try and explain things to you and you turn around in any universe and act like a complete ass. You don't have to believe it. You also don't have to be an ass either.

My gut feeling was right with you the first time. Lump that with whatever makes your day happier.

Except after c. I think it still applies in this universe.

Have to admit though, i before e except after c is a weird rule.

I just pointed out that "weird" doesn't follow the rule.

There are always exceptions. 'Their' is a common exception.

I was just saying why an "ei" comes after "c" rather than an "ie".

Also, to address your point, yes, I think there are sooooo many things we will never know nor comprehend. We will try, but we will fail.

You can call me an ass all you want. That's a typical response for someone who doesn't like facts.

If you are searching for why you remember it they way you do, why have you ignored the scientific papers published which show exactly how this happens? I already know I am right, nobody has to say I was right. In fact, you could say I was wrong and that wouldn't change that I am right. I don't need affirmation. I am legitly in this thread to find out why, scientifically, people, the majority it seems, remember stein.

I have found more than enough data that shows it is an optical illusion created by the brain. Many people saw the title of the book and their mind completed it for them. They pronounced it wrong, and hence spelled it wrong.

Again, how do you explain people who TODAY can have the book in front of them and still say and spell it wrong?? It's the same concept which created the false memory.

You just don't get it do you?

Does this new reality mean we can swap the use of the words "effect" and "affect" without being chastised by the grammEr nazi's?

Wellllll, since we are now comparing guts and feels and whatnot..here's a thought. No, wait. A feel. My gut feels tell me that your gut feels are off the mark.

And my gut feels are always right. Know what I'm saying?

It's gone the way of the "Stein"... Time to get used to the new and improved marshmallow.

If it's any consolation... I feel your pain.

Again, how do you explain people who've never seen the book and say Berenstein when they are looking at the book? Or pronounce it wrong with the book in front of them?
