River Otter Preppers Leader In Custody

The group was “preparing for an end-of-times event as prophesied by the Book of Revelations in the Bible which he believes will occur in the near future,’’ the FBI wrote in a probable cause statement seeking a warrant to search Winters’ home

That's enough reason for a warrant? And search with seizure?

My idea smile police, yes, if you are not smiling, haul you off! That should fix things...

No but this was.

"According to the probable cause statement, Winters has used straw buyers to purchase AR-15 rifles, and the rifles might be buried on his property. In addition, the document said, Winters helped build and sell metal pipes that were designed to function as booby traps by firing a 12-gauge shotgun shell.

When the FBI approached Winters about 8:40 a.m. Monday, he drove away and then fled on foot, according to the FBI."

Preparing for the end of the world is not reason enough for search and seizure but using straw buyers to purchase firearms is.

Makes those who prepare for disasters look bad.

So, a "straw purchase" led to this?

When is Mark Kelly going to be in the news for his?

Yea, selective enforcement at it's finest.

This is what happens when you have no opsec, you get arrested. Tell no-one but those whom you know and trust with your life about ANY of your activities, lest you end up in the clink.

On page 15 of the search linked document it says the only reason he used the 'straw purchasers' was because he thought, incorrectly, that he could only purchase five at a time.

So it's not like he was a prohibited person. He was just an idiot.

And you just gotta love that the destructive devices are pieces of pipe with a spring.

One device was made of plastic piping that used compressed air to shoot out fish hooks to trap and immobilize intruders.

Ohhh man! Now that sounds like a totally kicks ass, bat~crazy trap!

Would never build one but damn I'd love to see how that contraption works lol!

fish hooks...I mean, just wow! hahah!

-Good on him for turning himself in. Probably just a grumpy old feller with lots of hat and no cattle.

Well this is covered elsewhere on line and he was quite a guy. Provided really low cost rents and housing for the poor and fed the poor. And he didn't really commit any crimes. So held without bail, though he isn't a murderer? I think that is illegal. Elsewhere it has been said, we'd take him over our current leaders. People really liked him.
