Former MAIG man: the government and our own message hurt our cause

Since the Newtown massacre, Mark Glaze has been the face of the gun-control movement.

He left Bloomberg, Monsanto Mom and Everytown for Gun Safety last week.

He blames the government and the gun-control groups for their own failures:

“Because people perceive a mismatch in the policy solutions that we have to offer and the way some of these mass shootings happened, you know, it is a messaging problem for us, I think. … Is it a messaging problem when a mass shooting happens and nothing that we have to offer would have stopped that mass shooting? Sure it’s a challenge in this issue.”

Not so much a messaging problem as a fundamental failure of your movement to have any value.

As for the governments role in this:

“The fact that people have learned that the government has taken for itself the right to listen in on our most private conversations has done nothing to inspire faith in government restraint. It’s that lack of faith in government restraint that makes it difficult to do things like ask everybody to take a background check.”

Kinda of like when a bunch of lawless psychotics run into your town and declare all guns, except for theirs of course, are banned. Sort of makes you uneasy.

The poor guy still believes in the cause though:

“The federal picture will change when legislators come to understand that we are here to stay. … I think it will take an election cycle or two to understand that there are new players in town and they are free to do what they know in their hearts are the right thing and what 80 to 90% of their constituents want. You can’t defy political gravity forever.”

So despite an admission that the proposed changes won't do anything and that the government leaves us very little reason to trust it he's still on board the gun-control wagon for the long haul.

I'm not a religious man but I believe that qualifies as blind faith.

It takes an extremist attitude to not just lie to the public to manipulate popular opinion (ex: background checks and magazine limits would have prevented Newtown) but to come out in an interview and admit lying to manipulate popular opinion hasnt worked out the way you thought it would.

It's sad really to think how many gun-control proponents buy into the lies and it's somewhat horrifying to think how many know they're lies and just don't care. One is blowing himself up for Allah and 72 virgins the other is blowing himself up just to wreck #.

Ok, so if nothing they have to offer would stop any of this, by their own admission, why are they trying to pass these restrictions? These people are delusional. It makes no sense unless you're just using it as a convenient excuse to get rid of something you just don't approve of. Further, its a disgusting exploitation of a tragedy to use it in order to manipulate public opinion against law-abiding citizens under such circumstances.

Blind faith, with a healthy dose of willful ignorance. Scary stuff when a person outright rejects reason.

Anti gun folks tend to not understand the reality of violence, the reality of criminality, or the reality of who our government really is.

It seems that this guy acknowledges these realities, but refuses to accept them in the context of what gun rights mean to America and Americans.

A very interesting comparison can be made between the anti-gun crowd and the anti-gay marriage crowd.

Both groups are rabidly against a harmless lifestyle because of ignorance and irrational fear.

If people would practice a little understanding and tolerance, we might finally start to make some progress across the board.

The guy was nothing but the yes man of Michael Bloombug and his agenda of gun control, he found himself with the financial means to finance his anti gun groups.

With such a wealthy benefactor anybody will do anything for money, but at the end even with all the fancy names like Majors again illegal guns he was taking a lot of hit for all the misguided propaganda behind Bloombug agenda.

He understands now that the people doesn't want gun control and Bloombug anti gun sentiments is nothing but bordering on fanatic.
