Bridges TV - 24/7 television for Muslims in US

Starting yesterday, Bridges TV, a 24/7 TV channel catering to American Muslims, was launched. It's purpose, from it's website is:

Bridges TV is the first nationwide American Muslim TV network in the United States. Other Muslim TV stations do exist, but they do not cater to English-speaking or American-born Muslims. Bridges TV programming is in English or with English subtitles, and our network seeks to fuse American culture with the values of Islam in a healthy, family-oriented way.

Apparently there have been many Muslims donating modest monthly sums for the past month. to help fund the channel. It also has some wealthy donors, such as Muhammed Ali.

What kind of religious philosophy or sect is Bridges TV affiliated with?

A4 Bridges TV does not profess one particular sect or philosophy of Islam. The purpose of Bridges TV is to build a platform that will allow all American Muslims, and furthermore, all Americans, to discuss and debate various philosophies and sects. Having said that, Bridges TV caters to mainstream Islam as defined by belief in the Oneness of God, acceptance of Muhammad as a messenger from God and a seal to all prophets.

An intro to the service shows a panoply of several actual bridges, all of them in the US. Why not global bridges? This strikes me as somewhat odd.
