The outgoing president of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, has stated that he supports a completely new presidential election. The statement comes amongst rising tensions in the disputed presidential elections. This comes despite the fact that Kuchma backed the disputed winner Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych.

Ukraine�s parliament has voted �no confidence� in the governments of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich. The vote came on a second attempt using a secret ballot. They further voted to create an interim "government of national trust." All sides are awaiting a Supreme Court deliberation now in its third day dealing with the fraud charges.

KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine's parliament on Wednesday voted to sack the government of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich, boosting opposition efforts to end a political crisis triggered by his contested election last month as president.
"This is a victory not only for the opposition, but for the entire Ukrainian people," opposition deputy Roman Zvarych said. Deputies also voted to create an interim "government of national trust." The vote, passed at the second attempt through secret ballot, came just before the start of efforts by international mediators to help settle the crisis which threatens to tear apart Ukraine.

The outgoing president of Ukraine must appoint an interim government since the parliament has voted down the government of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich.

KIEV, Ukraine - Ukraine's parliament brought down the government of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich on Wednesday, approving a no-confidence motion as international mediators gathered in the capital to try to bring the spiraling political crisis to a peaceful resolution.

The dramatic vote came only days after the Election Commission certified Yanukovich as winner of Ukraine's disputed presidential run-off, though opposition leader Victor Yushchenko has said the vote was fraudulent, an allegation backed by Western governments and tens of thousands of opposition supporters.

KIEV, Ukraine - Outgoing President Leonid Kuchma said Wednesday that he supports holding an entirely new presidential election, not just a rerun of Ukraine's disputed second round of voting, the Interfax news agency reported.

Ukraine had a first round of voting in which no one candidate received more than half the votes, setting up a runoff between the two top vote-getters. The results from the Nov. 21 runoff vote provoked a national standoff when the opposition refused to accept the results, citing vote fraud � a charge backed by many international monitors.

"Where in the world do they have a third round of elections? A revote � it's a farce," Kuchma was quoted as saying at a government meeting. "I never supported it because it is anticonstitutional."

The tide may be turning for a reelection in the Ukraine. Tensions remain high and events may unfold at a rapid pace. The Ukrainian parliament is not helping matters either. Deliberate attempts to keep from having a quorum seem to be taking place to avoid having a vote on the matter. The E.U. has offered to mediate, and perhaps the U.S> should as well.
