No you definetly have to work your way up to it. A week long preliminary stage for a 3 day fast is what I would recommend. But if your diet is good then you could be ready by the 13th.

Gradually drop caffine, meat, dairy, Increase fruits, nuts, veggies, herbal tea. Organic food only.

There are different types of fasts. Sun up to sundown avoidance (as many religious do) multiple days of food avoidance, eating a strictly limited amount/type of food and at a minimum quantity, etc. I'd like to do this, but I don't think I can do it in the total avoidance sense. I may have to find a suitable minimalist fast to follow.

It varies. When your stomach is empty you need less sleep, because your sleep quality is higher. But during ketosis, I can barely stand up. :p

I am thinking of doing this. I used to do a combination of Yoga, body weight exercises/stretching and Intermittent fasting about 2 years ago. Although, I wasn't into meditation at the time, I found myself clear headed. I felt and looked less dense and the mind-body connection is real! Not to say you should not eat... But yes.

The only thing is, I will be going to an event were we will be taught how to forage in a forest on Saturday 6/14, so I will be put in a place of possible food intake.

I may be only able to go 1 full day but at least that will be worth it. I'll meditate on Friday night


Can I ask, what is the significance of doing the fast around the Full Moon?

Ehh...you kinda reminded me that I'd wanted to build myself into fasting after a small attempt a couple months ago. Not counting the night of sleep the night before, I barely made it 12 hours that time. I guess I put the idea on the back burner. I'm considering joining you for Saturday.

Some people, with a certain kind of metabolism, can fast easily. People with a low body temperature can go without eating easier than those with a normal 98.6. This is because we are cool blooded like a turtle....turtles don't need to eat very often. Another way to look at it is that vampires don't have to eat often

I run around 99.1-5*. My wife calls me her space heater in the winter and cusses me in the summer.

But WTH, I'll give it the old college try. You're all planning on Friday the 13th - Sunday the 15th?

It's easy to fast for about 44 hours, that is about the time it takes to cross the country in one of those super FAST trains.

I started eating organic, whole foods ,one ingredient foods with my second born..
No processed, no Chinamen hair, no corn syrup, no processed sugar, no gluten, no dairy..
Just veggies, fruits, nuts, oils, fish, oats, added lean meats second year, added red meats the third year...

Figured, if I was going to force him to eat plain foods, I would suffer also..

this was 3 years ago, he is now 4.. we both have benefited well...

also add in some yoga, HBO chamber and some 24- 48 hours fast for me and everything has changed for a positive..
the only downfall, is my metabolism and appetite is off the charts..and his also...

next on my agenda was a 3 day fast...this is a perfect time for me....I usually get massive headaches, but screw it, I will suffer and make it three days...if I get a headache, I will just jump in chamber,and let my stem cells increase even more.

I confirm....water fast for me, and cooking good whole foods for the family .....

Hey! Glad to hear a fellow parent will be joining me. Amazing diet you accustomed your child to. Mine eat a lot of fruit, and my four year old loves nuts too. Recently they won't even touch meat, nothing to do with me being vegetarian, I do offer it to them, but no, they can't even look a it. Am concerned a bit if I'll have enough energy to look after kid/kids thorough my fast, depends how many out of three I'll be with that weekend. But what the hey, this will be a peace of cake compared to giving birth

My 3 day fast was unintentional, but the results have been astounding. After my fast though, I stopped intake of all MSG containing products, as I suspected that MSG was the cause of my illness. So, if anyone does do the fast, maybe they could also go MSG free when they start eating again, and see if they then get about a weeks worth of quite intense withdrawal sysmptoms such as chills, sweats, brain freezes, emotional swings, and report here if they do?

I welcome any experiences from those who have them on this subject to be shared here. That was the idea of this thread, to help each other out. Actually survived today on half an avocado and a few brazil nuts. Felt no hunger at all, but I guess it is a lot of fat. Tomorrow I'll try less. Feels good.

My body does not easily and smoothly switch over to burning fats anymore. You must do an enema before you start or you will make yourself ill if you don't.

the build up of digested food in the intestines must be cleared otherwise it releases toxins and gases back into your system.

The body stores the toxins and poisons in your fat cells, when you fast as the body consumes the fat it releases the toxins back into your system and you want to remove these as fast as possible, a fast will excrete most things through your liver and kidneys so it would be beneficial to help your body remove these wastes take some bentonite clay as this doesn't eliminate the toxins through any of your organs,
also rather than just using distilled water (Do not use tap or spring water when fasting) you could use some beetroot juice as this clears out the liver really well.

Your body starts to push the poisons out of it after 8 hours of a fast if you are really serious about fasting then the only way to go is to research a Lakhovsky machine this will completely push everything out of your body you only do 15 minutes a day as your system cannot handle any more in the extraction of metals that comes out of your brain and tissues

I don't get ill, and I don't do enemas or cleanses first. Man, do I ever get thirty though. Like severe dry mouth thirsty. I don't do juice when fasting, it turns on the hunger signals. Nope, reverse osmosis water for me.

Very good lead there, I will read on it further. I take milk thistle extract about two times a month. I took it every day for about two weeks and my kidneys and liver started to spasm. Part of my problem is that I do not quickly excrete chemicals the body recognizes as safe, so they can build up. It kind of makes it nice, less of these things are needed. I have been observing this relationship in myself for a while, it does not work with everything though, I excrete too much salt in my urine and can wind up with problems. That could be the result of damage to a part of the brain near the brainstem caused by the accident, a part that actually creates chemistry to stop the kidney from excreting salt. It could also be too much potassium in the diet. I need about a teaspoon of sea salt a day added to my diet, but then again I do not eat much processed foods and avoid most chemicals in foods, many that contain sodium. I don't need medicines for this, I just need to eat a minimum of the RDA of salt and I have no problem.

There are similar chemicals and even some of the same chemicals in certain foods that do about the same as thistle. Dandelion is one. The percentages are different though. Look at the shape of the leaves of things Even coffee possesses some of the detox effect of thistle. I experimented with thistle, and researched the chemicals they said were in it, finding them in other places in nature.

I'm going to research your links now, see if I can find something new to learn and apply it to modify what I already know.

I also have to research the thyroid hormones and what triggers their specialized release. I just learned something about the thyroid from an article written by a metabolic specialist last night, something that is very important, something that was written by someone who understands the thyroid function well. I wouldn't mind spending an hour talking to a metabolic specialist, I suppose I could make an appointment for a few genetic problems I have....but that will only get me probably fifteen minutes. I hate having to pay to learn. I got paid for most of the learning I did in my life. I guess I got spoiled.
