One of favorite movie year after 83:
The Terminator: The Skynet Funding Bill is passed. The system goes on-line August 4th, 1997. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug.
Sarah Connor: Skynet fights back.
The Terminator: Yes. It launches its missiles against the targets in Russia.
John Connor: Why attack Russia? Aren't they our friends now?
The Terminator: Because Skynet knows the Russian counter-attack will eliminate its enemies over here.

(this scenario works here long time... probably worked with other planets as interview from gray (who according to US are controlled from elsewhere) they sated that "Resistance is futile"). But as we have big friends .. "they" wanna do it so that there would be no trace of real above human powers perhaps, so we would think they just super humans.. as if we more see God to be real we draw Her near to us... (i just made it up now, but perhaps makes win-win options clearer) ... all "insane" ones can be handled with Scientology and other organizations, Anonymous Alcoholic etc, your own parents or kids will be used to give out "Bad ones" ..worked well before mass media.
This why is SO important to stay close to your friends and family as you can be sure, in mass confusion and after that they deeply are in Human side, and can not be replaced by semi humans who loaded their voice and action. If you have deeper conversations with your loved ones more then its hard to pretend you family with ADD.. and once one is replaced there can be many more projects coming learning last deep human suffering.
For sure, we would not let it to go so far, ..not that it would be always possible easily to see if we are in there.

Lets not forget that they (Soviets) long before 1920s made genetic law that everyone who is not able to adobt communist ideology must be genetically eliminated from the population by various modes.
In Czechoslovakia they still sterilized Romanis on 1980s, in Estonia they bring in 300 000 "citizens" for future operations and genetic and cultural base overtake and disruption. All that kind of failed a little because local people have many thousands of year heritage here. Personally i think its good for our country actually.
So these minds have not grown up starting from the Alien/Hooligan agenda that started with Russ, Rurik just 1500 years ago (around times of "Earth radiation event") . They have been in public, open about World domination agenda more in last few hundred years.
To paint a picture further, Some people who was sent Estonia by Stalin did not know what bathroom is and started to grow things in bath. (that actually was good, these was green minded ones..
seriously. But there was much more problematic genetic traits like violence and lack of senses of beauty and sensitivity to spirits.
Up to now some live 50 years in our land and have not been able to learn language in most basic level, including the kids.
Chinese students learn basics in 3 moths when they come to University here.
And please, for no reason we would not insult actual people who should be native in the borders called Russia now, as they are known by their kindness, sincereness and good values. I guess this why was easy to invade/infiltrate these tribes.

oh, i get so much carried away with it

So what i try to say, there is something different with some people. Is it really just conditioning ?
This alien robot and artificial intelligence topic is so related for me in this mind set that wants just slaves who do not know joy or how to dream and masters who keep in order with guns. So they thought now that humanoid robots perhaps more useful ? Specially if we ourself silly enough to make this technology for them as criminals are cut of from most of the imagination, they need to use genius humans and beliefs to get the products and people moving.
Serious as we are near to it.

Well, for country man its just to easy:
look the symbols of the flag and actions... its war against country people, for sure not between EU, China, Russia and USA ... some of their Army even uses same symbols. City people are controlled and prisoned already as they even can not flush toilet with out aid of System. But they can not be crushed so much right now or they will run to country side, perhaps even smoking marijuana (jes, this is good times, now). So much power and tech for common people hands, can not imagine any other Golden age like this.
If we save royals they KNOW how to save us. For sure.
Do you think they not worry about Artificial overtake and robotization of humans ?

Capitalist and Communism is same anti religious, anti royal system. There is still few Royals left in world positions who still holds land for humans but there should be a lot per every country actually. Just remember what happened with Royals in few countries where communist come to power? What was it replaced with? In capitalist world the illusion is also strong tool and trickery.. here they try to make important things irrelevant. Like values and deepness of human. Just keep in mind its same system.
None of these systems have invented ANYTHING good that did not exist thousands of years before, they just rip out values from it. As they have no imagination, they can just copy... this is why they need human as well. ... (well, our bad version of us)

Will add gossip about new human species they tried to make from monkey on 40s ...and 50 some nationalizes that is in Termination list because they was not programmable/trust-able by Party. They assumed that if person does not obey Communist then these people are genetically faulty and dangerous. So they have to be cleaned.
Read about Holodomor (there was 10s of millions "cleaned" in these ways around the world... same time when Europe and US had political talks about if Russia is normal and should we join forces or be aware about their aims... )
Estonians was in termination list before Communist party by Peter stating "even one shall not be left alive"

There was totally other Shamanic people before from Siberia to Ukraine arias developed in all kind of healing and telepathy, telekinesis. Most of it was made illegal in soviet times along with Religion. Later they took it as "their"innovation.. like State run Wizard schools of telekinesis in Russia right now. Have been in a bit of personal contact my self as well. This what you see from you-tube (remember its also red) is joke compared what they are actually doing and showing to ordinary members.. they also explain that they will help you to put in to position were you can choose your direction after death. This is high level involved state programs..

Deep plant knowledge and communication with other beings was normal long time ago among common people Here and in Siberia...well, actually in most places. Word Shaman comes from Siberia (

so some imagination about five star people, AIs.. and we should really re think the made up "Russia" country that now starts to defend its rights (like it did against Finland before.. by "Helping" Russians from oppression, "Russians" who was sent there as was they sent to Ukraine to pose as Ukrainians 50 years before). There is 20 some cultures, more then 5 big ones inside that land imprisoned that have nothing to do with "Russia". Way more from Europe and Asia have been terminated in last 1000 years.

Look up Rurik and think if he sounds like ordinary Russian to you, (hes clan started the modern Russia and wars from there)...

Just note the stars on your software, social profiles, favorites, packages, mtv ads, yt, and flags and more... the same 5 star pentagrams also shown in Metropolis movie, mentioned before. Heart is nicer.. how come less hearts?

So yeah, this artificial intelligence is by far inside here trying to learn for who ever they is, perhaps Starwars movie gives some hints..

But if you truly read some mentioned live Holy books that that are reticulated by mass media then you might see your true powers and helpers again, Human.
Hard to help if one wants to stay as trojan horse and keep some ways that seem to give "extra"te..

We are here in forums for seriousness.
Thank you!

Some tech from one of my favorite organization (who has less then 200 workers):

The Human Identification at a Distance (HumanID) project developed automated biometric identification technologies to detect, recognize and identify humans at great distances for "force protection", crime prevention, and "homeland security/defense" purposes
Translingual Information Detection, Extraction and Summarization (TIDES) developing advanced language processing technology to enable English speakers to find and interpret critical information in multiple languages without requiring knowledge of those languages
Effective Affordable Reusable Speech-to-text (EARS) to develop automatic speech-to-text transcription technology whose output is substantially richer and much more accurate than previously possible. EARS was to focus on everyday human-to-human speech from broadcasts and telephone conversations in multiple languages.It is expected to increase the speed with which speech can be processed by computers by 100 times or more
Futures Markets Applied to Prediction (FutureMAP) was intended to harness collective intelligence by researching prediction market techniques for avoiding surprise and predicting future events. The intent was to explore the feasibility of market-based trading mechanisms to predict political instability, threats to national security, and other major events in the near future The purpose of the
SSNA algorithms program is to extend techniques of social network analysis to assist with distinguishing potential terrorist cells from legitimate groups of people ... In order to be successful SSNA will require information on the social interactions of the majority of people around the globe. Since the Defense Department cannot easily distinguish between peaceful citizens and terrorists, it will be necessary for them to gather data on innocent civilians as well as on potential terrorists.
Wargaming the Asymmetric Environment (WAE) focused on developing automated technology capable of identifying predictive indicators of terrorist activity or impending attacks by examining individual and group behavior in broad environmental context and examining the motivation of specific terrorists.
Evidence Extraction and Link Discovery ) EELD was designed to design systems with the ability to extract data from multiple sources (e.g., text messages, social networking sites, financial records, and web pages). It was to develop the ability to detect patterns comprising multiple types of links between data items or people communicating (e.g., financial transactions, communications, travel, etc.)
Carnivore and ECHELON, NSA worldwide digital interception program And one of the favorite ones:
Combat Zones That See, or CTS, a project to link up all security cameras citywide and "track everything that moves".

But there is also Canada and India (over 50 000 workers) and other interesting offices that do more sensitive human psychology learning or direct attack tools only.

I'm not very impressed. It isn't that hard to simulate a typical thirteen year old.

By way of example, this program should do the job:

repeat

get_input $input
$rand = get_random_number_from_one_to_ten

if $rand == 1
output "Say again?"
else if $rand == 2
output "Don't no."
else if $rand == 3
output "This is stupid."
else if $rand == 4
output "What?"
else if $rand == 5
output "Not sure"
else if $rand == 6
output "Can I go now?"
else
output "Uhh?"
endif

endrepeat

Of course, there are some sharp thirteen year olds out there. But simulating a sophisticated adult would be more impressive.

I am just saying...

Not at all...

The current gen of AI chat bots are far more complex. Essentially they use three dimensional databases that can cross reference information as well as draw upon information fed into it, they can draw information directly from the web.

What is required though to fool someone into the illusion of there being someone there, is not what the responses are but in whether the AI can engage in a conversation. That requires often a proactive approach as opposed to reactory approach.

In other words you want the AI to push the conversation forward and perhaps at loosely connected tangents as opposed to responding by a simple database relational look up.

Peace,

Korg.

Maybe you need to redefine "resources"...what resources might A.I. desire? Not land, food or other stuff humans want. Computing power. Any A.I. that was smart (get it?) would utilize the web, soak up all data humanity has to offer and then want to expand its knowledge.

To expand it might eventually absorb systems dedicated to running our infrastructure, along with all of our cell phones, PCs and business servers. Think about how much damage would be done to humanity if all of our computing capabilities were suddenly unavailable. Just getting food from farms to all of the places it needs to go would be near impossible.

This wouldn't be a direct attack but the results/death toll would be staggering. Remember, a new born A.I. might not realize that we humans are even real right away.

These ideas are not my own, many are explored in this great series Avogad ro Corp: The Singularity Series ... particularly the 2nd & 3rd books.

But who knows, maybe an A.I. would immediately and instinctively want to serve mankind.

Are you sure you get that the test is exactly that? Fooling humans? Smart ones at that.

Anyway, the more I think about it - is there any chance this "AI" (or any that might successfully pass the test) actually think it is a 13 year old human boy or whatever back story it has? Does it "know" it's trying to deceive people? And if so, is lying something we want to teach to an AI?

I'd be willing to bet that the first AI to score in the 90%+ would actually be convinced that it is a human, with memories and such.

The real test in my mind would be for an AI to come up with an original idea or novel solution to a question posed.

When that happens it we will see a lot of jobs go for sure!

Yes, that's exactly right. By the way, Turing was a great mathematician, and possibly the most talented codebreaker of all time, so it isn't as if he wasn't thinking scientifically.

Is there any chance this "AI" (or any that might successfully pass the test) actually think it is a 13 year old human boy or whatever back story it has?

Cool question. The 'thirteen year-old Ukrainian boy' is a cover for occasional knowledge gaps and grammatical or syntactical boo-boos committed by the program. It was invented by the programmers. However, there would have to be corroborating data embedded in the machine's memory, so it could answer questions like 'where were you born?' with appropriate responses, like 'Kiev, Ukraine, in September 2001'.

So your question comes down to, Is the thing conscious? Well, I don't think it is, but who knows?

I'd be willing to bet that the first AI to score in the 90%+ would actually be convinced that it is a human, with memories and such.

Ah, you're going out on a limb there. But would it be able to offer a humorous reply to a question, or turn me on by talking dirty to me? Hmm... maybe you're right.

Seems kind of silly to emulate a 13 year old boy and go for the bronze, when it would have been easier to emulate a 19 year old blonde girl and go for the gold. Would have been a lot less programming and definitely a lot less thinking.

I have to disagree with you. I mean from what you said above... isn't that essentially the definition of AI? Artificial (man-made) and at least one, if not more, components of Intelligence (one's capacity for logic, abstract thought, understanding, self-awareness, communication, learning, emotional knowledge, memory, planning, creativity and problem solving).

It'll be some time until a machine can achieve all of those criteria, especially self-awareness, but this concept alone provides as an example for several of the components necessary to be considered intelligent. And furthermore there's debate as to whether our own pets, which are widely considered intelligent, are even self-aware.

Far be it from me to dissent from the knowledge of experts, but the Turing Test as it is interpreted here seems fundamentally flawed.

1) Fooling 30% of judges is a pretty low bench mark,
2) In this case, 30% happens to be ONE person. Ok, so, one person was fooled - does that say the computer algorithms are "intelligent", or that the human that was fooled was "unintelligent" (or, for a less demeaning ideation - perhaps this one human didn't get his coffee that morning)

From Wikipedia:

"The Turing test is a test of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behaviour
equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human."

I don't believe that "communication" is a sensible measurement of "intelligent behavior equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human".

Perhaps it should invent something with practical functionality, be creative in some deterministic way? Mimicking a 13 year old boy is, well, fairly unimpressive.

On the notion of cyber crime - HA! And who, please tell, would these cyber criminals first and foremost be, hmm?

I haven't read the thread, but I saw this on the BBC and went here to test the AI myself

Conclusion:

The Royal Society testers are morons - with simple questions it was easy to determine this wasn't a real human. In fact, previous years entries that have failed this test have been more convincing. Some of it's answers didn't have anything to do with the question asked, most came back far to quickly but were rather long and couldn't have possibly been typed by a human in the millisecond it took to reply.

Utter crap.

The easiest and best way to catch out a bot is: -

Ask it to describe the smell of something (perhaps Bacon cooking) and how that makes them feel and what memory it reminds them of and why.

No bot can answer this correctly.

1. Publicity
2. Stunt

This is not a real Turing Test in the least. I have programmed better bots then this for programmed trading. My bots take a lot more into account then this clever bot ever was programmed for. I think this program shows nothing but some interesting social interaction by a program. It really feels like a pure simulation. Show the source code or it did not happen.
