You can go faster than the speed of light (in a vacuum) but you can't go the speed of light. In a linear universe that makes going faster troublesome but not impossible.

It seems obvious to me that the universe is really a large living quantum computer with matter and energy being generated in ways that are designed to stop searchers from measuring it and taking it over for there own egotistical gain, in other words the more evidence we uncover the more questions arise as to how it works because it is an illusion we are participating in , and this participation effects atoms around us.Its like walking on a moving sidewalk trying to map the streets.

Everything is based on the fastest speed we are aware of and can be measured... and it fits among everything we are aware of and can measure.. they say.
Maybe things will change if "they" find something faster.

Technically it's not FTL as it has no speed it's instantaneous.

Speed = Distance/Time

If Time = 0 how can you get a speed? You can't.

The intelligent replies to this thread have caused me to lose a lot of sleep. Light is a bastard. I don't want it to touch me any more.

no problemo!

www.youtube.com...

so here is a video on a talk by John cramer on the woodward research on the mach effect and traversible worm holes.

they are weird stuff. first off you can fiddle with the distant part by doing stuff to the near end but best of all you can use one before the other end has time to get to it's destination according to an observer at the near end.

pay attention to the rules for permissible traversible wormholes. they are kind of restrictive. and pay attention to the implications of the cosmic back reaction.

Light is always created at a fixed point imo. Then each particle travels at 299,792,458 metres per second.

Why?

I feel like I have stepped into the deep of a pool I can't swim in. I need floaties for my brain.

Or, according to Milo, this is how you travel faster than light:

By opening a quantum tunnel with an FTL factor of 36.7 recurring.

don't know how milo came up with this factor. or he is just pulling a fast one

The Doctor seemed to think he was right.
