The fake "Java Update" scam on "updowntuv.com" , (see my previous post), is a child of "adnxs.com" ...

So it is from being on ATS? The fake java update?

It has long been appearing on my screen and I don't click on it, and run regular anti malware etc.

The fake java update originated from "updowntuv.com".
According to lightbeam "updowntuv.com" is not currently connected to ATS,
( although the ads you see depend where you are : I'm in the UK )

What browser do you use and why do you bring up Chrome as an alternative?

This guy did some troubleshooting and he got the java update problem using Firefox and Chrome but not IE (See post #27 by Gmork):

www.subaruforester.org...

It's from the same source: updowntuv.com.

I'm not trying to promote IE, in fact I never use it; I'm only saying that I don't see why you think Chrome will help.

I think you misunderstood.

I meant I will look for an alternative to 'lightbeam' (which is a Firefox thing) for the browser I use which is Chrome.

Basically I would like to utilise a service like 'lightbeam' on my Chrome browser.

That wasn't clear at all in your prior post, but that explanation is much more clear

On Chrome it's called "Collusion", which was the original name for the Firefox add-on too, but the name got changed on the Firefox version for some reason.

I tried 'collusion' it doesn't show the graph, this seems like standard now as the recent reviews are saying the same.

Also, I've noticed the bash shell process peaking sometimes if I've been on ATS a while. Started a few days ago. I'm not saying this is Shellshock related, but somehow, someone or something is trying to gain access to and run scripts on kernel level on my 'puter when I'm on ATS. The exploits have been logged and nothing bad has happened so far as I can see, but I suggest Admin look into this and take this seriously. I'm not poking fun here. And I'm not accusing ATS for being responsible, but it only seems to happen while I'm here on ATS.

That phone call sound like the "fake Windows tech-support scam", which is nothing to do with Microsoft : the scammers phone people at random, ( almost everyone has a computer and the vast majority run windows ).

Here's how the scam works ... www.wired.co.uk...

Lol, "Microsoft" called me yesterday and the Indian accented man was insistent that my "Windows" had a virus and kept phrasing questions to make me say the word, "yes" which is a word you should never, ever say on the phone. (They'll tape it and claim you agreed to whatever.) I let him go on and on and then I told him I was on a Mac. No Microsoft, no Windows. He started yelling, saying that they could see my computer and it was infected. I told him I was turning in their number and hung up.

It's such an old scam, can't believe they're still trying it.
