To travel faster than light is theoretically impossible for humans, for now. However, there is a theory on how we could travel faster than the speed of light, but not actually move.

It's similar to the warp drive technology behind Star Trek. You have to warp space-time in front of and behind and object. Expand it behind the object and contract it in front of the object, and it will move, theoretically. This is known as the Alcubierre Drive. The problem is, this takes a hell of a lot of energy. This is why the engines of Star Ships use a matter anti-matter reaction chamber for energy.

It's like riding a wave. However, you need to have the power to generate this wave on command, not an easy task.

I don ´t see why things can´t travel faster than the speed of light.
Just because some theory says so.

Maybe when things exceed light speed they become undetectable using our current technology. As for time and linking it to light and all that, why?

What as light speed got to do with time, we don´t even know what time is or if it even exists apart from in our mind.

As for worm holes, how can you make holes in a hole?
And all diagrams describing this possibility show a flat surface with a grid, space isn´t flat. So making a worm hole at any place would just make a hole where it is, it wouldn´t come out some place else.

For humans to achieve travelling at the speed of light would be incredible. What would be more incredible would be to know where they are going and how to stop!

Not possible, but all discoveries "en route" to the impossible would also be amazing.

Sci-Fi imo.

Heres an updated article to the traveling faster than light theory:

I think the work about to be achieved at the new LHC should yield more clues and understandings to this theory.

i just come up with an idea, that maybe we have all missunderstood einstein about the whole *not being able to travel at the speed of light* thingo.
einstein states that you CANNOT, 'accelerate' to the speed of light becuase the closer you get to the speed of light the more mass you gain...so if you get infinitely close to that speed than you have infinite mass or something like that.

well maybe there are particals that already exsist and that travel a hell of a lot faster than the speed of light and were just around since the beginning? maybe we cant accelerate to and faster than the speed of light but maybe somehow in the future.... a long long long way away, when we master quantum mechanics, we can somehow manifestate ourselfs or hitch a ride on these (just persuming that they do exsist) *faster than light* moving particals

its just an idea? anyone else thought the same? anything to expand on this?

dont feel like reading everypost so this may have already been stated their is in fact a theoreticle particle called a tachyon that goes faster than light but cannot go slower it does this by using the effect of gravitational lensing where it uses electromagnetism to effectivly cut its self off from spacetime allowing it to move infinately fast
