Upon arrival at The Inn they entered the large beautiful wooden doors strapped with steel bracings and walked down a short corridor on a carpeted floor. The snow was falling off their boots as they walked and a team of Maidens followed them cleaning it up as it hit the floor.

They took off their Cloaks and were escorted to the wide long table in the center of the room.
They all took a seat and in moments, some dressed in White came out of a side door carrying large trays filled with different types of food. The trays were placed in front of the astonished group and Venison, Fish, What looked like roast Black Bear, and some other delicious looking foods that none of them could even name!! Fresh fruits and wines were also served.

They all ate until they thought they would burst! It was a fabulous meal and they all felt very grateful.
The white clothed men continued to fill the long table with trays of food.

The room was filling up with some other guests. Some of them the four recognized. Some of the others could not be named as they were never seen before by anyone in the small group!
Some of the other guests were sitting down to eat and some were still walking around.

Minotaur looking beasts walked around as did one with short brown tentacles coming from his head and shoulders. His head was round, smooth, and green. There were others that looked like Ostrich's. One was talking to another of it's kind in a seemingly happy conversation.

"This place is full of Wonders!" Syx mentioned to all His Friends.

Night and CC couldn't help giggling, partly because of the wine or whatever it was they were drinking and partly because of some of the strange looking beings they encountered. Syx so far seemed to be holding his own. Night swatted a fly or what she thought was a fly. Apparently it was a pesky pixie. Night told CC to say pesky pixie 3 times fast.
"Pesky pixie, pexy spicksy...They both burst out laughing and Syx joined them in their laughter. The pixie on the other hand was none too pleased.

A pesky pixie pic.

Night tried to apologize to the little thing, but it didn't accept her apology. "Well it isn't very nice to buzz around people's faces and land in their hair you know."
The pixie frowned then grinned. "I suppose it isn't, but that's what we do you know. And it isn't very nice of you to swat at things you don't even know what you're swatting at!"
Night Star and CC rolled their eyes and continued to sip their wine and marvel at the intriguing guests all around them.

I love having one of my fish tanks on my table. Sometimes I glance over and see the frog staring at me or the shrimp looking out. Hahahaha, little bitty frog, legs splayed open and looks like he is suction cupped to the wall of the glass. LOL God, the ghost shrimp are so freaky and kind of creepy. They have too many legs like a...spider!!!! Then again, they are rather interesting.

Hi people.

Looking for ideas for those who like Sci-fi.

Current terminology for a space ship coming into the atmosphere is the term 're-entry.'

But that term sucks if the space craft has never launched from that planet. It can't be re-entry because it never left

I have a few terms listed below, can anyone think of any others. Thanks in advance.

emergency atmospheric penetration

Transitioning for atmospheric entry

de-orbit

???????????

Hm, what about...

Tropospheric dive

Geodesic trajectory alignment

Antiparallel takeoff

It would be an atmospheric entry, or at least, that is the term used for meteors which enter the planets atmosphere.

Incidentally... HELLO EVERYONE !

Yes, technically you're right. But I believe phoenix is trying to finds words which portrays a simple coming back with no extreme, exosphere-to-troposphere movement.

If he goes ahead and writes re-entry, his less geeky readers might assume that the ship was in space, generating confusion.

Sometimes when you write sci-fi, you have to trade technically for words imagery.

Well, I hear what you are saying, but there are really only two ways I can think of to describe such an event, one being technical term for the moment at which an object transfers from extra, to inter atmospheric travel. One of them is the dry description that I provided above. The other is to describe the event in flowery, near poetic language.

"As the ship passed into the atmosphere of the planet below, sensors on its outer hull registered the caress of the planets breath across its lines, growing warmer as it descended through its layers."

It entered the atmosphere?
Then use more descriptive words for the way it entered?
