Nazareth. It was a town of about 500 people.
It is believed to have a synagogue.
There is a cliff near the town.

Nazareth History

Archeologists Dig Up Home in Nazareth From Jesus Time Period

Huffinton Post - The Archaeological Evidence For Jesus

Josephus didn't mention it because it was a small, out of the way, nothing village.
It wasn't worthy of even talking about.

From your source:

The archaeological evidence shows that Jesus grew up in a small village, Nazareth, about four miles from Sepphoris, a prominent city in the early first century C.E.

Please....

One of these days, when I have the time, I'll do a proper thread on Nazareth and the Nazoreans of Mount Carmel.

Peace out/

Well, if you choose to believe what the bible says he will come back.

Rrriiiiight.
And if I choose to believe I'll win the lottery? Then I'll win the lottery?

Ridiculous. Magical thinking. Most people outgrow it by about age seven.

What is the point of questioning scripture if you already have your mind made up and will not give an ounce to understanding? You read then assume and judge thereby danming yourselves based on something you know not the truth. you care not for your soul or damnation and cause others to stray. misery loves company the truth here is that nothing will satisify your need to skew the past and that will forever skew your future. The sad part is that i really dig the posters here and can understand the mindset but not the inability to reach for all angles. it's like a qb calling for a touchdown pass and the field goal unit drunkinly stumbles on to the field. go team go

It's not not understanding scripture. We just don't give it the benefit of the doubt. You assume it's true so you try and find a way that it fits. Y'all are the ones who won't even consider it's all crazy talk. Most of us grew up believing, but once you do like 5 min of research amongst real life sources. You find out it's all BS. That none of it matches up with history or science. If something is true it doesn't matter how close you look or how much you analyze, it's still true. You shouldn't be upset about it being researched and being debunked. You should be enlightened by it.

And you Christians are not reading and assuming and judging everyone who (rationally) questions the book that you call 'truth' by telling them they are damned?

I care very much for my soul - and it tells me that a bunch of writings compiled into a book intended to intimidate and control others should not be held up as 'truth'.

Skew the past? Really?

Dude, I was brought up with Christian religion. I'm now over 50 years old. I have a right to look into things that you (and many others) claim as 'truth.' So - has it ever occurred to you that YOU might be wrong, and that by telling others they are 'damned', you are damning yourself for JUDGING?

It's not your place. You have no authority to do that. I wonder if "God" keeps a record of how many times a person pronounces that others are "damned" for simply disagreeing with them?

Not gonna look good on you. Just saying.

Yeah, that's pretty much the truth, isn't it? 10 years ago I would have sworn up and down that Adam and Eve existed ... that Exodus actually happened as it was written .... that the very hand of God came down and wrote the 10 Commandments ... that Noahs Ark was an absolute truth.

And then, a little research, and *POOF* all that goes out the window.

Truth is truth. No one should be afraid of truth. In fact, it should be our lifes quest ....

If a belief can't hold up against research, then it's not worthy of being a belief.

Hehe he just assumed and judged you... As he accused you of the same...lmao perfect example of a conservative evangelical. I really don't know how they logically can do that and not feel foolish.

It's really funny they way they all think it's porn and such that turn us away from god! When every atheist I ever met quite believing because it didn't match science and history.

What is the point of NOT questioning scripture ... does it mean that you already have your mind up and will not give an ounce to understanding? Don't be afraid to look at everything with a critical eye. If it can't stand up to being scrutinized, then it's not worthy believing in.

It's called faith and if you do not have it you will never be able to accept. I would be in agreement with you all if the book did not spell all this out for us. Bottom line if you do not have faith then you can not be givin the mindset to understand and you will question everything. If you do not have faith then why bother those that do with your baseless questions. Can anyone understand the difference of questions and indictments? When you have a question you do not have an answer. When you make a charge at denial of the word your mind is made up already and you will go further into unbelief. You ask not for understanding but choose to believe a lie and not without reason because if you seek dellusion you shall find it.

There you go with that pesky history and science again. There is a forum for that and it requires no faith just accepted avenues deemed to be facts.

Right back atcha.
The difference is, you have 'faith' that it isn't a lie.
Without reason.

Where do your rights come from? age has little to do with the kingdom of GOD and in truth the younger have a much better perspective than us. if you have no faith then you have no salvation. it is very simple.

Hmmm.

Well, I prefer to use the intellect that God gave me to discern truth from fantasy.
I have faith that the ability to do that was granted to me by "God" - so - I should just throw it away? Go along with man-made stories? Because
.
.
.
.
wait....
.
.
.

WHY?

What makes your intellect superior to mine? The fact that you don't look into things, and just take them as truth without investigation? Naive comes to mind.

Critical thinking. It's your GOD-GIVEN friend.

a reply to: BuzzyWigs GOD gave you the ability to damn yourself without faith. The ability to choose science and history over the word handed down by prophets. What came first your lack of faith or your unbelief in the word? Perhaps your mind was coufounded by all the sins we go through day to day without asking for forgivness or are you the type to reject the thought that you were born into sin and need constant relationship with GOD in order to keep the thought processor running clean through asking for forgivness?

I almost forgot... REPENT

- No. It's called common sense. If something is proven wrong, then it's wrong. It's not a 'lack of faith' to say that something has been proven wrong.

- I had unquestioning faith. Turns out ... I believed in things that were flat out wrong.

- You are Christian. So what about Muslims? They have faith. Their faith is in things that aren't true. Wouldn't you like them to take a long hard look at Muhammad and see what the rest of us see ... the truth, that the 'visions' weren't from God? Would it be wrong for them to take a common sense look at their beliefs?

That can be said of you ... closing your eyes to the truth and believing a lie. Noahs Ark didn't happen. Genesis didn't happen. Exodus didn't happen as the bible says. It's not a lack of faith to say that. It's just THE TRUTH. But you choose to believe a lie instead of the truth .... right?

So I have to say that I believe in Noahs Ark, and Genesis, and Exodus ... even though they have been proven not to have happened ... in order to get to heaven? That's God's criteria for who gets into Heaven ??? Yeah ... I don't think so.
