This is why General Officers need to NOT work for the government after they hang up their uniform for the last time.

And Shinseki ... anyone would have known better after he took the black beret away from the Rangers. What a dumbass!!

This is from this year.

Republicans block Senate bill to boost veterans' benefits

A bill to increase spending for veterans' services failed to move forward in the Senate, despite support from 54 Democrats and two Republicans.

A divided Senate on Thursday derailed Democratic legislation that would have provided $21 billion for medical, education, and job-training benefits for the nation's veterans. The bill fell victim to election-year disputes over spending and fresh penalties against Iran.

Republicans block Senate....

GOP Voted Against 7 Bills to Help Veterans

Here's the Bills in numerical order. In short, the GOP has voted TO NOT SUPPORT THE TROOPS at least 7 times. I think that is sufficient to call the GOP House Hypocrites and Phonies.

Bill's Blocked By Republican's Since President Obama Took Office.

David Gregory, John McCain, and the media aren't covering this story so we have to.

Here's a concise extraction for easy viewing for those who are INTERESTED IN VETERANS ISSUES and need to know which party supports veterans and which party does not.

The rejected Bills are named:

H.R. 466 – Wounded Veteran Job Security Act became H. R. 2875.

H.R. 1168 -- Veterans Retraining Act

H.R. 1171 – Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program Reauthorization

H.R. 1172 -- Requiring List on VA Website of Organizations Providing Scholarships for Veterans

H.R. 1293 -- Disabled Veterans Home Improvement and Structural Alteration Grant Increase Act of 2009

H.R. 1803 -- Veterans Business Center Act

H.R. 2352 – Job Creation Through Entrepreneurship Act

GOP Voted Against 7 Bills....

these bills were blocked because the democrats keep putting all of their no veteran entitlement bull# in the bills.
the democrats know that the GOP will block the democrats entitlement bull# so they all it to veterans bills so that they can get them blocked.
many of us veterans know the true story because we did our research on the amendments the democrats added to these veterans bills.
patriotupdate.com...

The interesting part is most of these bills past the house controlled by the GOP and were killed in the senate that the democrats control.

Well what about Emperor Obama's mighty 'Pen and Telephone'..... he does know how to use them, right?

You have blamed the Republicans for the VA scandal, don't forget to say that the veterans deserve it because they are a bunch of racists.

Yes he has pen and paper what would you say if he used them? Would you cry he wants to be king or dictator?

Ah, so Obama didn't do it, someone else did it.
Obama knew about it in 2010 and didn't bother to correct the problem.... But he didn't do it, so he is blameless.

Because Democrats keep putting stuff in the bills that have no busines being there. The GOP was voting against the pork, not the bill.

Both sides do that tactic, and it should stop.

I would say he is finally doing his job. The problem is he only uses his tools to advance his agendas, not to do his job, or do the right thing, or to help this country.

And in this election year, the GOP decided to make this an issue and make it look like it's Obama's and the Democrat's fault. But they neglect to mention that it was one of "theirs" who sent these people into war in the first place.

It never gets old does it.

You do know that sense 2009 there was an increase in the budget for the VA by about 67%.
Let me find that for you.

As Secretary Shinseki says repeatedly, VA has all the resources it needs. Since 2009, VA’s budget has increased by over $66 billion, or 67%. But what VA and its army of advocates will not admit publicly is that VA’s problems have nothing to do with money—and everything to do with a calcified culture of mediocrity, as opposed to a dynamic culture of excellence. At VA, nearly all employee performance is rewarded (regardless of outcomes), poor employee performance is routinely ignored (or covered up), and veterans are left holding the bag—wanting and waiting.

What we have today is a VA that is really good at serving and protecting managers, staff, and bureaucrats—and not so good at actually serving veterans.

Link to VA

2009, that makes it Obamas Baby, his Administration, his people, his responsibility.
We have noticed how Obama accepts and acknowledges His Part of any Responsibilities!

I've been trying to find a recent bill (or any old one) that would have addressed this "waiting list death panel" issue.

I found one, but it's been stalled in a House Committee since last year.

It had to do with some kind of 30 day "only" waiting period.

The real truth is when the republicans had control, even with GW as POTUS they did nothing, and in Obama's first term he had control in both houses and did nothing. No executive orders from either just more of the same lip service we have always gotten. None of this is new either it has been going on for years, both parties have heard it, the public has heard it, and things are still the same. The thing that amazes me is vets running the VA, and things being this bad.

Everyone is responsible, except for the poor guy/gal that put their lives on the line and need the help . Shame even sits at the feet of the public for not yelling and screaming enough and not replacing these do nothing bozo's we call concerned politicians.

It would be nice if they would help the vets.
Some blame the democrats, some blame the republicans, it doesn't matter which party they come from can't they put their greed aside and help the people that volunteered to defend the country.

Care to actually dive into those bills and see what "hidden" items were attached to them?

And if Obama was as red hot angry as he claimed .. then he'd have Holder jump on it. Holder only picks that which fits his agenda, and this doesn't. You say 'spin spin spin' .. yes .. I see you are here defending Obama while he lies yet again.

Sorry that I can't be any more clear as to this statement, "Would you like to expand upon the extra items that were within the bills???"

You know, extra crap that really has nothing to do with the Veterans????

LOL. Daily KOS.

The Republicans hate vets? YOu do realize that many of those bills were sponsored by Republicans:
H.R. 1168 -- Veterans Retraining Act Sponsor
John Boozman
Representative for Arkansas's 3rd congressional district
Party
Republican

H.R. 1293 -- Disabled Veterans Home Improvement and Structural Alteration Grant Increase Act of 2009 Sponsor
Stephen “Steve” Buyer
Representative for Indiana's 4th congressional district
Party
Republican

H.R. 1172 -- Requiring List on VA Website of Organizations Providing Scholarships for Veterans
John Boozman
Representative for Arkansas's 3rd congressional district
Party
Republican

H.R. 1171 – Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program Reauthorization - See more at: www.abovetopsecret.com...
Sponsor
John Boozman
Representative for Arkansas's 3rd congressional district
Party
Republican

H.R. 1168 -- Veterans Retraining Act
John Boozman
Representative for Arkansas's 3rd congressional district
Party
Republican

Republicans SPONSORED 5 out of 7 of these bills.

Why would Republicans vote down bills that they sponsored? That does not make sense. Of course if you understand that a Democratic majority senate adds riders to bills that their know that are so onerous that the sponsoring party can't vote for them. This is called a "poison pill" and it is often used to shut down legislation you don't like.

The few bills the Democrats sponsored were just bad legislation. One bill expanded VA care to include non-service related illness and injury which would have flooded the VA system and made it more difficult to care for service related injuries to vets.

The Kos article is just more typical Soros funded leftist propaganda that anyone without an agenda and a little bit of knowledge can understand.

Edited to add: here's the specific poison pill rider Democrats used to kill one bill:

Senate Democrats killed an amendment from Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) that would have paid for unemployment benefits for many Americans and replaced recent cuts to veterans’ pensions by closing a tax code loophole that allows illegal aliens to access the Refundable Child Tax Credit.

The vote failed on Thursday 54-42, with all Republicans but Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) voting for the amendment and against Senate Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV). Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) crossed the aisle to vote alongside Republicans in favor of the amendment.

The amendment would have been to the Unemployment Insurance Extension Bill, S. 1845. On the Senate floor while debating the amendment, Ayotte argued her amendment is “one that would fix fraud in our tax code that really came to light in 2011 in a Treasury IG [Inspector General] report
