This protest is lost before it even started. There were millions around the country, not just on Wall Street that were rallying to put an end to the incestuous relationship between DC and Wall Street and look how that turned out.

Unless these protesters have a few billion dollars to buy politicians, nothing is going to change.
Freedom of Speech to our government is for sale and is not free anymore.

No, it did not, and I will tell you why, because Marxist professors have brainwashed generations of young college students, and Occupy was organized and run by leftists. It was supported by Pelosi and the Prez. It was organized by anti Capitalist groups like Adbusters and the Ruckus Society, and funded by Soros and the Tides Foundation. The establishment media won't cover the event, and what little coverage it is getting is tainted by bias. Patriot Radio just said that Alex Jones is on the ground there though.
Ask me if I think that a bunch of anarchist socialist/communists in Occupy promoting direct democracy are better than American Patriots who believe in Liberty.

There were millions marching on the streets of various cities, and you cherry picked a guy pooping on a cop car that the MEDIA shined a light on out of those millions to represent the movement. Just admit it that you believe in Crony Capitalism where the Banks and Corporations are in bed with the Government. You saw exactly what you wanted to see.

I was thinking more along the lines of Citizens United Backed Funding from Corporate and Banking Fascists handing their money off to their puppets in Government to do their bidding.

Seeing how we are run by an Oligarch rather than a Representative Republic, there is no "left or right" but one party calling the shots. Obama was put into power by the Banking Elite which were the same ones backing Romney.

To be fair, there were a few Libertarian/T Party/Ron Paul groups blended into Occupy, and some people who didn't know what they were really there for, and even some homeless.

What you really mean is you think that the entire Patriot movement is run by the Koch Bros because that is what your liberal friends and the compliant media have projected, because that is what Huffpo or MoveOn said. You cannot imagine that a real grassroots liberty movement can be nothing but people who really want our Republic back.
The Adbusters and Ruckus Society Occupy was the real astro turf. And they even had astro turf Union made signs.
The guy pooping on a cop car was just the obvious sign of the decay that was part of the landscape of Occupy. The media surely covered the event well enough and captured lots of evidence of drugs, rape, moral decay, and even the marches and signs of the CPUSA. Occupy didn't seem to mind having the neo Nazis either.
All the bookbags and tents and people squatting in the park was thoroughly covered by the media.
But again, not everybody attending in various cities knew that Adbusters and Ruckus and Tides were behind the push. But again, even DSA member Nancy Pelosi chimed in with her support of the event.

If I'm to understand this movement's goal correctly, it is to remove the current government, and install their own. Not by a public vote, either. As I understand it, the group has cherry-picked their own to place in power. That's based off readily available linked info other posters have presented here on ATS no less.

Maybe this movement isn't so much a Whatever v. Whatever so much as it is most people are not in favor of a coup d'etat junta wannabe government. Ever stop to consider that one?

Edit: I'm not saying never try to rally a political movement. I'm saying just don't expect success all the time.

The weather was AWFUL. It was POURING rain and the wind was wicked. We don't live really far from there and we were socked in. There is no way people could be out in that. It would have been insane.

Also - this event wasn't well advertised. No one I know heard of it ... and I only heard of it here at ATS the day before the event.

I followed Occupy pretty well, and I observed the statements made by many on the ground there, I also heard anti Capitalists make their pleas for direct democracy over their mic checks. I also read many of the demands on their websites all over the place. Most of the demands were pretty much socialist oriented. I heard people directly putting a demand to the end of Capitalism. Who says stuff like that? Oh yes, socialists and Marxists do.

I saw the CPUSA signs. I saw the reports of drugs, rapes, etc.

As a side note, a number of the demands on many of the Occupy websites seemed strangely to coincide with the leftist/socialist agenda of the current occupants of the WH and Soros campaign of elitist European Socialists, for instance I saw a demand for a finance transaction fee which is coincidentally a specific demand of Soros/Bilderberg/European Socialists/Richard Trumka Unions.

But, here's where things get real interesting. Where might Adbusters next take the merry band of muddied occupiers? On the frontpage of the Adbusters site, a "Robin Hood Global March" is being called for on October 29. What is the goal of this march? A Progressive income tax? Free healthcare? More subsidies for the poor? Nope. The occupiers are going to march for, get this, a Tobin Tax, that is, a 1% financial transactions tax. A bunch of occupiers, who have, it appears, gained most of their "wisdom" from the Communist Manifesto and, who likely wouldn't recognize a sophisticated financial transaction from an investment banker hailing a limo, are about to march for a complex financial transaction tax, at the behest of Adbusters. If you are scratching your head at this point, it is understandable, until you realize that a financial transaction tax is a pet project of, get this, George Soros.
In his 2005 book, George Soros on Globalization, Soros writes not only in favor of the tax, but discuses how to "mobilize public opinion" for such a tax:

The globalization of financial markets has given capital an unfair advantage over other sources of taxation, a tax on financial transactions would redress the balance...the tax ought to be extended to all markets, not just currency markets... Collection has to be worldwide, including tax havens. How could it be enforced? The collecting country must be given a portion of the proceeds...To mobilize public opinion of increased international assistance, the proposal must not only show how the money will be raised but how it will be spent.

And, thus, in the end, what you have is a bunch of clueless Utopian dreamers, marching and getting arrested for one of the greatest schemers this planet has ever seen. I assume Soros is getting a grand kick out of all of this.
