lets share M.A.'s speculations again,

Bush is no leader or commander, simply a complicit tool in the execution of the plan on 9/11 to get the neo-cons' "trifecta" and lead the US into an unwanted foreign incursion into the Middle East for illegal gains at the expense of reagular US citizens.
Yeah we did 9-11 to ourselves or were complacent in it...yet this is theory not fact.

Theory 2, some of did think that some butt whipping was in order in Iraq as the original war never ended...the ceasefire agrement was never adheared to by iraq, and lack of enforcment reduced our credibillity by implying we would do nothing to further enforce it. This emboldens our enemies into thinking we are either too affraid or too lazy to actually back our words with actions.

Theory 3, illegal gains...
i sure wish we had some of those illegal gains to help offset the costs of the war...where are these gains? As to illegality....Iraq was inviolation of an internationaly reccognized ceasefire aggreement, resulting from its illegal invasion of a neighboring country. They were also found to be illegally funneling $$$ thru the oil for food scam, (illegal gains totalling BILLIONS!!) So exactly how much illegality do we need to tolorate before we take action?
Saddam could still be in power if only he allowed the UN to monitor them. Who is accountable for their plight? Saddam.

As if there isnt a third or 4th or more options thasn the limited ones youve presented...

How about, the secret service, from the moment it is known that there was a threat of the magnitude of 9-11, works to secure the President...
They knew they had the school secured for the time...the president doesnt have a say in his security as is evidenced by him wanting to go the the white house, but secret service saying NO mr president, the VP is there and for national security you are being kept away from him and DC because it is under extreme threat at this time.

What about pre existing and secret secutity plans already in place to ensure the presidents safety...perhaps they include a "hunked down" situation where until it can be reasonable determined a course of action...."if he's safe now" why risk moving before nessisary?

Because the President is National Command Authority. He can't exercise that authority from Grade 4's reading class, can he? That's what Kneecap is for.

He couldn't go to the White House because it only takes one bomb to leave the Speaker of the House in charge, a bit like Bush tried to do to Hussain on the first night of the war.

The same reason the Queen, the Crown Prince and his heir don't travel on the same jet together.

Howl says,

Im certain the president can issue orders/authority from whatever location he is at, and think the feds have created the capasity for this to occur. Were talking about like 5min of time micro managers out there...that is potentially the time it could take to verify whats occuring (as best as could be done in a live event), asses security concerns, set up a cmd operation/equip, bring the limo the the assigned exit, or just formulate a plan for securing the president to a location where he can BETTER wield his authority. 360 seconds (5 min) is not a lot of time considering the magnitude of the operation in question. (national security responce, presidential security, dealing with an unfolding real time unknown event)

Ohhh yeah! Just look at that intense expression on that lady's face!! That looks like a real intense fight going on there. They couldn't possibly be kidding around, could they?

Furthermore, I suppose many of you 'Bush bashers' have forgotten Clinton's being asleep at Reagan's memorial service? This thread is a perfect example of why I don't show up in the political debate section so much anymore. The slightest shred of a chance to jump on the 'make of of Bush' bandwagon and people bite.

There's a reason for that too. Sure, some of this stuff may seem trivial and I agree with you, but when you realize why so many people have such a disdain and lack of respect for the man, then you'll realize why people are so eager to get a lick in on him!

Here's a hint: It's not because we're liberals or democrats.......keep looking you may find a reason or two to not have a blind devotion to him.
