Let us draft it.

I think we should keep the first paragraph and first sentence of the second paragraph, with a few small changes.


When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of humankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and Happiness.


I would like to include the phrase "of the People, by the People, for the People."

Instead of "States," we can replace that with "People" or "We the People."

Just looking for suggestions / feedback.

He didn't say new constitution. He is talking about declaring independence from the government that craps all over the constitution.

Sure, we can draft a new declaration of independence, however I don't think the people of this country would be willing to fight to make it stick.

First you might want to decide from who you want to become independent. The Declaration of Independence was a document of secession, was it not? And Great Britain did not just say, "Oh, well, OK, if you say so, go ahead." did it? Instead it sent its army and its navy over here to suppress what they considered a rebellion and throw all the signers of the declaration into jail at best and execute them at worst.

So drafting a second declaration by dweebs on ATS tweaking the words a bit for modern times to make it palatable to the LGBT community and all other PC parties is kind of moot unless you define what amounts to your enemy first. From whom are you intending to secede and how do you intend to pull this off? Interested parties want to know. Otherwise it's just a grade school social studies project.

Hmmm...I wrote this ditty about a year ago. It's more of a rant
and not not exactly what you're looking for, but you can borrow
from it if you like...


When in the course of humans events, governments no longer work
for the people, but rather, people work for the government. When
governments no longer fear the people, but rather, people fear
the government. When governance no longer represents the
governed, but rather represents the interests of greed and power,
then those people governed can no longer think of themselves as
free.

When petitions to government for redress are met with great force by
police. When news media has been consolidated into the hands of a few.
When war exists at great expense with no clear enemy or objective.
When forced labor in service to the state is required under threat
of incarceration, then those people governed can no longer think
of themselves as free, but rather as servants to the state.

When a nation of people no longer retain control of their money supply.
When the wealth of a nation is consolidated into the hands of a few.
When that nation's armies are sent abroad into wars of aggression
while their homeland borders are not secure. When the communications
of all citizens are monitored by unseen forces of government.
When the writ of habeas corpus is denied and due process of law is
denied, then the people governed can no longer think of themselves
as free.

When the people of a nation begin to see servitude to the state
as an honorable personal responsibility. When in the course of
daily life it is seen as honorable to report dissent of government
to government authorities, then those governed cannot think of
themselves as free, but rather as slaves to the state...as men of
servitude, no longer possessing freewill, but rather
dispossessing all liberty, and all justice.

When in the course of human events it becomes clear that freedom,
once granted by force, has been eroded by degree. When the bell of
liberty no longer rings proud and true, but hollow and impotent. Then
it becomes the duty of all men to rail against oppression. To call on
government in a single strong voice, that we will NOT be oppressed,
that we will NOT live in servitude, that WE WILL as a nation recall all
governance and begin anew...

This was created by moderator projectvxn back in 2009. I was a big support of it at the time and still am, even though it probably could use with some updates. Far more has happened to be added to the list of grievances since that time, but things in no way have gotten better.

Last I heard, the creator no longer supports the document.

When in the course of Human events it becomes necessary to dissolve the
realities prescribed for the masses, and to establish Truth where the tenets of
Honesty are missing, it becomes our duty to advance the movements of Truth
and Liberty, to respect and enforce the Natural Rights of Man that the God of
Nature hath bestowed upon us.

Human history has shown that a people vulnerable to despotism suffer the most when the veil of secrecy is cast upon them, for it is this veil that hides the crimes and transgressions of the leadership to be carried out in the name of the people these guards are supposed to represent.

The Declaration of Independence of the Original 13 colonies dictates that the most heinous of grievances be enumerated. We must declare our independence as we have been left to it without recourse or representation for some years.
Let it be known the crimes of the Federal Government:


1. The suspension of the Writ Habeas Corpus: Thus allowing that citizen and non-citizen alike be imprisoned indefinitely without charge or trial, without the benefit of counsel, without benefit of examining evidence, and be subject to punishments cruel and unusual.

2. Entangling the nation in foreign conflicts, and engaging in military action without declaration of war: By committing the Armed Forces of the United States, and the National Guard of the Several States to war without legal recourse, without evidence of clear and imminent threat, without clear strategy, and without the means of finance.

3. The Creation of the Department of Homeland Security and the Expansion of Power of the National Security Agency: The creation of institutions of espionage for the purpose of spying on the American people without Due Process of the Law.

4. The Federal Reserve System: The creation of a central banking institution that has resulted in these United States being cast into the abyss of unsustainable and unpayable debt.

5. Members of congress and other Federal Officials have called for, and taken steps to form programs of involuntary servitude.

6. The Federal Government has used the Interstate commerce clause of the US Constitution to restrict the regular flow of goods and services through regulation intended to single out smaller competition. Under this very modus operandi the Federal Government has also ceded National sovereignty to multinational-corporate interests including the international banking and energy industries.

7. The members of the Federal Regime have engaged in the pilfering of public funds for corporate welfare programs opposed by the majority of the People.

8. Members of the Federal Regime have manipulated the vote of the people in regional and national elections to influence the outcome.

9. The Federal Regime has infringed, and continues to infringe on the Right of the People to keep and Bear Arms in attempts to disarm and subjugate the people.

10. The Federal Regime has engaged in a military propaganda campaign against the people of these United States in order to garner moral support for an illegal, undeclared war, by the insertion of Pentagon political operatives in nearly all media organizations.

11. The Federal Regime and Government have targeted political dissidents and publicly declared them terrorists for political purposes.

12. The Federal Government has engaged in fraud by manipulating economic data, accounting data, and statistical data to misinform the public as to the true nature of the Nations finances. Members have taken bribes in the form of campaign contributions by private interests in order to influence public policy.

13. The Federal Government has established a Tax Code System so pervasive and large that it has become, in practice, taxation without representation. Today it threatens to reduce the Nation to poverty.

14. The Federal Regimes and Government have by legislation subjected the American people to unreasonable searches and seizures and gross violations of privacy that the Federal Government would never tolerate in turn.

15. The Federal Government has created a Constitution Free zone extending 100 miles inland from all borders in an effort to subvert the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the land in nearly 2/3 of the Nation.

16. The Federal Government has refused to enforce immigration laws leaving the Nation vulnerable to waves of illegal immigrants and potential international terrorists.

17. The Federal Government provided for the introduction of the Patriot Act, both original and in revised form, which has caused abuses by local, state, and federal authorities to abound with little to no recourse by law abiding, taxpaying Citizens of the United States.

18. The Federal Government, once empowered by its self approved legislature, allows for no alteration nor indeed questioning of method by any Citizen of the Nation without them being branded as extremists or terrorist and exposing themselves to unnecessary oppression and character assassination.

19. The Federal Government, by deciding how to interpret and reinterpret the original Constitution and legislature, has voided its contract with the Citizens it serves and can no longer be trusted to fulfill the Oaths of Office taken to ensure the liberty of the people and the servitude of the Government.


In each instance the American people, using their Constitution as a guide, have petitioned the government for a redress of grievances, be it by vote, protest, or direct contact. All attempts, peaceful in nature, have been met with contempt and answered with further injury to the Rights of the Several States and the People. Such injustices have been suffered patiently. History shows that such a patient suffering of injustices are natural to the People, as the People are often reluctant to fundamentally change or dissolve the establishments to which they are accustomed. But when these establishments become destructive to the Liberty of the People, it is their right and duty to establish new government, and new guards to their future security:

Therefore, We the Undersigned Declare our Independence from the Tyranny of the Federal Government and its regimes. And to this end we pledge our lives, our fortunes, and our Sacred Honor.

It truly saddens me. How many people signed that Declaration of Independence and declared their independence from our government, yet have allowed themselves to continue and slide back into the system that they tried to separate themselves from.

There is no gull or drive among people today. There are very few who would stand behind such words with dedication, who would fight to make it true. People can get behind words, but it takes a whole lot more to get them to dedicate their life to a cause, even when that cause is their own freedom.

I thought it was self-explanatory. The United States of America is a Tyranny. The only thing that needs to be replaced is "Great Britain" with "the United States of America." Of course, a few minor changes would make it more modern, although, really, just making that one change, and bam, it is time for American Revolution II.

Hopefully, the Constitution prevents this current government from doing any such thing. Oh wait...if this government upheld the Constitution, I wouldn't be asking (as you put it) "dweebs on ATS"...

I'll worry about that bridge when I get there. Perhaps, I am just wasting my time, but I'll be my own army of one. It is what Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin would want of any American...but most in this country could hardly call themselves Americans allowing this government to turn into the very same Tyranny that we broke away from.

Any feedback / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Should I drop some of the grievances? Re-word some? How are the other paragraphs?
