Well, your 1st paragraph reflects the sentiment of Neil Degrasse Tyson, this type of global warming has happened in the past, mostly from volcanic activity and other early sources of CO2, which may or may not have contributed to past levels of extinction. It doesn't affect the planet, it just affects us.

I think you will agree with Tyson's assessment of this:

“Earth will survive this. People say ‘Save the earth.’ No, don’t worry about earth. Earth’ll be here long after we render ourselves extinct.”

Neil DeGrasse Tyson: We’re Not Killing the Earth, We’re Killing Ourselves

If its mostly mankinds fault, due to wargames, poor tech aka quantity over quality equals insane amount of waiste, all those nuclear plants and other factories that leaves all kind of dangerous stuff to the oceans and lands, all the natural resourches drained out of the earth and so on, did we ever had any chance in first place?

If its just natural earth cycles or something like that, then its Ok, everything has its time.

Looking back, our tech havnt been around that long either, if its really had this major consequenses this fast, we have failed real bad. Alot of it can be put on greed too,

If its the natures onw thing, then its quite funny timing dont u think?

Something waking up under the ice? How ironic with the new Godzilla movie comming out....I've always wondered if that ice melted, would find anything under all that ice ? would we find city ruins, Atlantis, Or some sort of long lost civilization?

It's so sad how many people are still blind to the effects we have on our planet. The soils are poisoned, seas and lakes are, the air is dirty everywhere, isles of waste float through our oceans... Don't worry, right? Can't be the hormones from anti-baby-pills we piss, that make the fish infertile!
How we see ourselves as rulers of the world, and at the same time as entirely without any impacts on it, is... I don't know, ignorant maybe?

The big questions are. What are we going to do?

We can't stop it at this point. Most of earths population has made their habitat by water sources. It has always been that way right now that is about %80 of the world population.

I forsee the future being full of turmoil. Asia will be hit hard. Comerce will be seriously screwed up all our ports now will be useless.

Imagine the ports on this map they will be kind of screwed.

Just like chemtrails distract from the real pollution of jet exhaust, the Big Melt is a distraction from guess what… pollution.

I love the could be worse in a hundred years… pollution from mining, oiling, and jetting around are the problem. How about you buy less bling, drive fewer times to the store and flit around by air only in emergency? That might help immeasurably if only you do your part.

Excuse me Gentlemen,,cough,, cough,, we have a bigger problem.
If u think of this world as a finely balanced Sphere/Ovoid, traveling at
X miles /hour through, the road of life.
Well here's a pic,,

think, Chandlers Wobble,, for instance,

now, think of all that ice as,,

as a weight, for instance ,placed at a certain location, like

lets hope that wheel wobble, does not happen.

cause friction is a bitch.

I read somewhere that if the Three Gorges Damn in China were to catastrophically fail that the displacement of that enormous mass of moving water would be sufficient to alter the earths spin…

Wish I could find that.

"Sigh"................

Clearly, scientists havent got a clue, they Guesstimate everything to do with the Earths Climate.

So now we are back to Global warming? Its definite, its warming, The Antarctic will be a tropical paradise in 100 years.
Kevin Kostner was right, get your catamarans floating.

Strangely, just a few days ago, "Weather Scientists" (??) in Australia claim that the Southern Australian drought (its not, just one small part is, the rest has had above average rains and low temps), is caused by the Southern Ocean wind receding towards the Antarctic taking rain away from the Continent.
They say...The Antarctic is Getting COLDER"!!!!!

www.abc.net.au...

So, which do you believe, the scientists that guesstimate the Antarctic is getting warmer, or the scientists guesstimating that the Antarctic is getting Colder.

Its a 50/50 bet each way.........I wonder if these "Experts" go to the casino often?

To Errrrrrrr is Human.

But I do agree, we Pollute too much, well not "us" as much as China and India, AND
There are too many humans on Earth.
Just like our ancestors, Adapt or Die....simples.

We don't have to do anything. At least not for about 10000 years. We are on the verge of an Ice Age. Dont you know? Its going to be getting a lot colder. And then, when the ice age is over, global warming might be apparent then (if the science is even real). But I figure in 10000 years, either way, we'll have the means to eliminate a threat like this.

The big question is, "are you voting democrat or republican?" Because that's what this is all about. I'm voting republican.

You have to love sites that claim a paper says something but they fail to link the paper they are referring to.

But wait the article also says.

But actually, we can explain Antarctica not getting warmer as quickly as the other continents by this strengthening of the westerly winds,

So which is it. Is the arctic getting colder or is it not warming as fast because even if it isn't warming as fast that still means it is warming and well the article this thread is based on says the ice melt is accelerating that doesn't seem to jive with the claim things are getting colder. You know the Ice that matters the thick ice sheet or old ice that has been built up over time which can contribute to sea level rise.

I don't know anything about Chris Ulmann from AM talk radio who wrote the article, but I think he may be confused because as I said it can't be both getting colder and warming at the same time. It may not be warming as fast as other areas, but that isn't the same as getting colder.

Maybe he was referring to it getting colder because it is the time of year for that part of the world to get colder. That would be a sneaky silver tongue if that was what he meant.

I will vote for the turd sandwiches who are least likely to screw things up worse, but I am glad you found a club to be part of that has to make things easier on you at the voting booth. You don't need to educate yourself on the issues or even the candidates you can just look for the letter R.

Everytime someone says they vote by party this song pops in my head and I sigh....

I suppose if some implacably neutral Supreme Deity was to score mankind's report card I would hazard a guess, but it may go something like this...

Evolution: 5
Development: 4
Intelligence: 7
Wisdom: 0
Empathy: 3

Mankind failed to use the gifts endowed it by Nature adequately. It had great adaptability, but failed to act on significant clues as to its imperilment. Another failed experiment, so it is back to the drawing board. Please flush the remnants down the plughole!

No the real question is why are you basing your opinions on those of politicians rather than those of scientists?
