Thank you OP.

For all the ungrateful children out there who forgot it was Mother's Day (
) ask your Mom if she forgot how long she was in labor, how long she felt it took to hear your very first cry indicating you had made it safely into the world, how many times she counted your fingers/toes after you arrived, how many nights she had to get up change your diapers/feed you/chase the monster from under your bed and clean up your puke when she had to go in to work in a matter of hours, how many years it was before she could eat her meal while it was hot again, how many times she put off paying a bill so you could have the newest most popular shoes, how many nights she laid in bed picturing your limp/lifeless body in a ditch when you decided you were too old for curfew, how many nights she laid awake wondering what she could sell/do to pay for your braces, your prom dress/tux, your first car, your contacts because glasses weren't "cool".

Only then to lay awake and wonder if you got home to your dorm room/first apartment alive when the roads were icy, wonder if you had enough money to get by, food to eat, etc. etc. etc.

It doesn't end.

She remembers.

Just saying.

ETA - For those of you missing your Mother today, I wish you strength to get through this day, just as she would have wanted.... remembering the good times and smiling in celebration of her memory and the legacy she left behind.

I lost Mom 6 months ago. I'm so depressed today I can hardly breathe.

I came to ATS today looking for a distraction and found Bloomoon's post; then read your wish for strength; both have given my spirits a lift
Thank you!

Thanks for the good will and I have the special privilege of being a grandmother. I lost my mom 14 years ago and I still miss her.

Cheers on the Happy Mother’s Day wishes

I love my Mom so very much!!!
I love being a Mom so very much!!!
Have been drifting through the empty nest this last year as my twins stuck their toes in and then swam from shore.

Here is my wish for my Mom & my wish for my sons as their Mom…
May the sun
bring you new energy by day,

May the moon
softly restore you by night,

May the rain
wash away your worries,

May the breeze
blow new strength into your being.

May you walk
gently through the world & know its beauty all the days of your life.

-apache blessing

Have a great Mother’s Day

And I as well would like to say Alles Gute zum Muttertag!
I would also like to tell anyone reading this to treasure your mother w/ all you have for I did not and got into an argument with my mother and refused to speak with her for two years when my brother called almost 2 years to the day we quit talking and said she had died of cancer. Let me tell ya, nothing hurts like knowing she died thinking her son hated her.

I lost my oldest son thru suicide so I know your pain on days like this and the “if only” thoughts…

Your mother’s love for you is special and will last past both your lifetimes
It is unchanged by time or distance,
It is the purest love unconditional and true.
It is understanding of any situation and forgiving of any mistake.
The bond between mother & son is strong enough to withstand harsh words
and hurt feelings, it always sees the love beyond the words
~Stephanie Douglass

I hope this gives you some peace today to carry with you this love is a treasure and makes life more valuable.
Hugs...

I'm happy that you found some comfort here. ;-)

I'm so sorry for your loss, and the pain that naturally comes with it. Its a much deeper pain that words cannot explain, when we lose a parent. May you have extra blessings for extra comfort on this day.

The greatest gift of my life is being a mom.

Raising 4 kids, sure there have been so many sorrows, stress beyond belief. But I would not change it for the world. The joy far outweighs it all.

Happy mamma day!
the first official Mother's Day was celebrated at St Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia, by Anna Jarvis, which now holds the International Mother's Day Shrine.
