A hundred and twenty years ago people lived on substance farms... Girl babies were killed if food supplies ran short... people believed illness was caused by evil sprits. Women died in child birth many kid never made it to their 5th birthdays

Fewer people came from harder lives not more gays.

Yes, some.....But most gay people are not born with an abnormal gene, they develope into a gay person and a high percentage is because of a botched relationship or lack of one....There is no such thing as a gay gene and people who claim to have born that way are hiding from themselves....It is a choice not a god given thing.

Any statistics you could share with us to support that?

Didn't think so.

What we, or all animals, eat determines the amount of different hormones created. There are also different genetics that make a difference. Some guys can eat anything and make a lot of testosterone while others need to have something in their diet. Beer also contains chemistry that boosts testosterone levels for many people, it is because of what they clarify it with. Testosterone builds muscle if conditions are right. Other chemistry in beer or booze can make people argumentative if their genetics is right, boosting octapamine levels so that they can go off easy. These same chemicals are in many aged foods.

That is a whole different system than testosterone. It mostly acts on the blood vessels. Viagra does not build muscle.

So your saying it may be a combination of individual genetic makeup mixed with diet?

If you are gay and not comfortable with coming out then please don't but I wonder if any gay people have any thoughts on this?

If it is offensive I apologize and don't mean it to be.

I once had a pot-belly pig that was in love with a basketball. I don't know a word for that form of sexual orientation, but damn if it wasn't funny to watch.

Out of curiosity, are you aware that you are speaking of Mother Nature as a conscious force, and therefore you are speaking about a 'God' and not nature anymore.

The amount of people who genuinely do this (not implying you are specifically) is staggering lol. The same people often call themselves atheists as well.

Nature cannot choose to do anything with a will, so if homosexuality was a product of nature, it would be by complete chance. At least, that's the 'mainstream' scientific view.

That is to say, one human would through utter sheer and random chance (since that is how evolution works) experience a mutation at genetic inception causing homosexuality (if it is completely a facet of genetics) and by sheer chance would also manage to pass this onto the offspring hence prolonging the life of the gene.

Of course, this usually brings around the issue of "how did the gene spread so strongly/how is it still around because by the very virtue of the effect of the mutation it would suggest the person isn't very likely to pass on the trait via reproduction?".

It is a fair question and I'm sure there's an assortment of logical to completely nuts theories on the matter.

Logically, it should like you say, cause a population regulation. This couldn't have really been the case though considering the context of the question up there^.

This is all assuming its completely genetical as well but we don't really know. We're also assuming there's one 'degree' of homosexuality when in fact there is probably a multitude of reasons explaining all acts and desires of homosexuality.

Peace

You need to look up "epigenetics". Your view of genetics is grossly simplified and could use some study. You don't have to enroll in college classes to get the basics.

Epigenetics....not genes. Epi markers on the genes. That is what drives homosexuality. It is also how you can take environmental pressures and personal traumas, and transcript genetic changes in real time. Epigenetics are how biological beings communicate need for genetic change from generation to generation.

I have often wondered if there was a natural "population control" mechanism at work.

On another note, I have been seeing a lot more rainbows lately.

there is an evolutionary reason for gays www.huffingtonpost.com...

Put differently, why haven't gay man genes driven themselves extinct?

This longstanding question is finally being answered by new and ongoing research. For several years, studies led by Andrea Camperio Ciani at the University of Padova in Italy and others have found that mothers and maternal aunts of gay men tend to have significantly more offspring than the maternal relatives of straight men. The results show strong support for the "balancing selection hypothesis," which is fast becoming the accepted theory of the genetic basis of male homosexuality.

I suppose I more look at the world as a life form kind of like a tree. It doesn't have any real thought (that we know of) but it's only purpose is to keep itself alive. It does so by keeping a balance in ecosystems via evolution. So evolution is the photosynthesis of the planet.
