Florida Teacher Banned Bible from 'Free Reading' Time in Classroom

I'm a little split about it:

I think that if it's the students free time they should be allowed to read whatever they want as long as they aren't causing problems, however, on the other hand, I also think that academia is propagandized enough and religion should play no part in public schools. Our childrens minds are sick enough.

Marvel comics places Spiderman in NYC they also had issues depicting 911 so I guess by bible standards those are now history books.

The standards for Historical accuracy seem to be real low.

Having read the article, and having looked at different court cases that around the school and free speech, the following can be stated:

The courts have ruled that schools are not free speech zones. There are limits on the freedom of speech as to what a child can and cannot say, and can be limited by the school. That being said there are a few questions that should be asked and answers be given.

While this is free reading time, the one question that should be asked by the parents, and not just those of the child that this happened to but all parents should be: Is there any guidelines that the teacher put down on the students? Is there a reading list, or a list of books that the teacher wants the children to read, or did the teacher just say free reading time and leave it to the individual student?

If there were no guidelines, and it was left to the students, then the teacher is in the wrong and should apologize along with the district. But if there was, then the fault lies with the student.

It will be an issue for the Freedom of Speech, not of religion. Consider this, if the attorneys for the parents bring up the religious freedom, the school and state will argue that there exists a wall of separation between church and state. And that to allow for a student to discuss religious matters while on school ground, could be seen as a violation of the separation and that the school is allowing for those of one religion to be more in favor than any other student. And to promote equality among all students, religious discussion is not permissible on school grounds, as it may offend another student or students.

The reason why it would be consider a freedom of speech, is that it would fall under that category, being that the child was not preaching, but reading a book, a form of speech. Thus as the child was reading said form it becomes a matter in that area.

And ultimately it would lay within the area of the teacher, and the instructions given. Was this open and free reading, or was it a matter where there was a list. That above all else is where it could be resolved, cause if the bible that the child was reading was not forbidden by the teacher, then the teacher and school was wrong, if however the instruction was a list of selected books, then the child is wrong.

And yet the public schools are promoting pornographic books with extremely graphic detail. Who would have thought we would see this day and people would still defend this craziness.
I heard the clip of this teacher. This is the result of godless secular humanism running rampant with no checks at all.

The bible was not being taught in the classroom. This is really though a classic attack on religion in general which the secular humanists have been waging, especially in the classrooms. As I have said, teachers such as this apparently have no problem with having pornographic materials in their classrooms parading around as "curriculum" under Common Core Standards. There is definitely something wrong in society when this happens. This is all an activity of the Left and leftist causes of course. And of course they attack our right to stand up and speak out against their tyranny. A father was just arrested for speaking out about this graphic book which was a reading assignment for SCIENCE believe it or not, with graphic porn sex scenes being described, and date rape. Why would any responsible parent accept this trash as curriculum, but our society is punishing parents for standing up.
There's definitely something wrong with this picture.

In fact, a local parent discovered some reading material her son brought from school and it was absolute smut! She wrote a letter to the local paper and then the school superintendant tried to obfuscate the whole thing.
What is going on with all this awful stuff being paraded before our youth? This is not the way to educate students. So, when Progressives will stop parading this smut in front of our kids, we can have another conversation about the bible.

If you had bothered to understand some of the many things written in the bible you wouldn't be at such a loss.

"Turn the other cheek" doesn't mean what you think it does. When it was being taught it was referring to the illegality of striking someone with the back of the hand. You would be inviting them to break the law after which, they would be screwed. Its a lesson in being more intelligent than your enemies.

Also love thy neighbor doesn't apply to those trying to uproot your house.

But really my sentiment has nothing to do with God. This is my personal war which I take on for the spite, hate, and malfeasance you all deserve. Well if you had bothered to read the thread you would have at least been open to the very real possibility that this is in no way an attack on your faith which would mean it has nothing to do with atheism but instead you jump strait into your Christian armor and start talking about how people deserve it or worse.

It didn't violate our rights. It was simply not considered a literary book suitable for free reading time. Free reading times are not for kids to read whatever the hell they want, it's to read books that will help develop their reading abilities and vocabulary. So, if the teacher decided to say no bibles, simply because it was not the type of book intended for free reading times, he is certainly within his bounds to do so.

Comics, bibles, smut, Playstation 4 instruction manuals... Yes, there are some things that are not totally suited to "free reading" times. It should be up to the teachers discretion. Their job is to make sure the kids are learning current, modern day English, not getting their daily dose of Jesus, Muhammed, or flapjack the faery prince of planet Xenu...

My son came home the other day, 5th grade, and told me about a book he and his reading partner had to read, out of the approved stack of class room reading material.....about Billys two dads. Theres your teachers discretion for you.

So rant on and drag the bible down there with playstation, smut ect.
