If it offends someone, regulate it, eh? If something bad happens to one person in the world, make a new law for everyone, huh? I guess you believe you'll be able to prevent bad things from happening altogether through more and more rules and regulations. What a great world we will live in when we no longer have to choose how to act. We can just be like everyone else. We should just conform to what our leaders tell us we should conform to.

SO true...

That reminds me of one of the greatest movie quotes of all time:

"So this is how liberty dies...with thunderous applause..."

No, you have no idea about me or my beliefs. No need to go on attack.

You claim to be a liberal, so I do have some idea.

There's no 'socialist' option but there's two different libertarian options?

Oh...I dunno about that. There's some statism involved in democratic socialism.

I suppose it doesn't really matter as you can split ideologies or have a combination of ideologies. Anarcho-capitalists, libertarian-socialists, etc.

I'm surprised that Green Party is second. That makes me think that the mystery forum topics are now more popular than the conspiracy forum topics. Interesting considering the first thread was in the mystery topics.

I was surprised by that too and I think it might be the non-confrontational nature that some green-leaning people posses that they don't engage in discussion due to the argumentative nature of some of the forums, yet still visiting the site.

And if you disagree, Fatwa on you! /jokes

Wouldn't the 'Green' stance appeal to you, even thogh you're not in America?
Seems pretty universal in this globalized civilization.
The 'Green' appealed to me and I'm British/French, long term US resident...but still have my head on my shoulders and a broad view of the world.

Unless I want to complain about something, I don't participate in surveys because they typically work against the participants in one of three ways:
1) The surveyor is trying to figure out how to charge me more money.
2) The surveyor is trying to figure out how to pay their employees less.
3) The surveyor is trying to figure out how to charge more to marketing companies for the privilege of target selling me more crap.

I never understand why marketers think I want to waste my time making their job easier.

Stats can be interesting but they are also seriously flawed. Having studied statistics, I'm always annoyed when the standard deviation is not disclosed. Further, stats do not and cannot account for lying.

At the moment, it appears that the liberal, socialist etc. sorts are at about 33.85%

and

the conservative, constitutional etc. sorts are at about 24.40%

I think it could be argued that the anarchists could logically be lumped in with the liberal sorts . . . resulting in that cluster being about 47.24%.

I'm glad the conservatives number close to 25%. I was expecting closer to 10-15%.

Adding the Libertarians focused on States rights would result in 37.0% for that more conservative cluster.

Interesting. I suspect that IF one were to fairly & objectively code a computer to analyze the posts on the political threads, that the liberal posters would come out with far more plentiful posts at a far shriller level.

It seems clear to me that the roughly 10% greater numbers on the liberal side does not explain in and of itself the far greater number and intensity of liberal posts on ATS.

Sociologically, that's VERY fascinating.

You have either a very warped view of the term "anarchist" or a very warped view of liberalism.

Anarchy would be closer to libertarian than anything as libertarians want the government to get the hell our, whereas liberals want the government to fix all of their social problems.

I think you guys are grasping at straws trying to convince people that this site's population isn't skewed in favour of the political right; I'm sorry but, the proportions of conservatives on this site are much higher than they are in the general population.
