meaning that more people kill themselves with carbon monoxide than

i like hangings and firing squads.

even more economical---walk them to the top of a twenty story building and push them off
you could even have a big plastic tarp to prevent spills and aid in cleaning.

The initial report on Clayton Lockett's botched execution is out and it seems that the officials have been telling lies.

I'm a bit surprised at the sudden lack of interest in this, given how angry this thread was at times.

NO - justice must be impartial. If the State has to execute people it has to do it cleanly and humanely, no matter how violent or perverted the criminal. Judging how long an execution should take is like judging how painful it should be. That's torture. When we executed the Nazis after the Nuremburg War Crimes Trials they weren't gassed slowly or left to die in agony, they were hung quickly.
