Levitation by Electromagnetic Induction
An alternating current is passed through a metal coil creating an opposing magnetic field in the plate which results in its levitation. The current is
strong enough to light any bulbs that come close enough to the plate, while excess energy is dissipated as heat.
Acoustic Frequency Levitation
The levitator consists of two small speakers, one above the other, which generate sound waves at frequencies of about 22 kilohertz - slightly higher
than humans can hear. When the sound waves from the top and bottom speakers are aligned they create a standing wave. At the nodes of this wave there
is no net transfer of energy and pressure from the sound waves cancels the effect of gravity on light objects like these drops.
Piezoelectric crystals can produce electricity from the energy generated by movement. A common example is a cigarette lighter, where the crystals
produce a spark.
Fuel from Seawater
Extracting CO2 from seawater turns out to be surprisingly easy, using a new method called bipolar membrane electrodialysis.
A paper from the Naval Research Lab (Willauer et. al. 2010) outlines the process. Seawater is broken into hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis;
the oxygen is vented off and the hydrogen is retained. At the same time, CO2 is captured from a much larger volume of seawater. The CO2 is converted
to carbon monoxide at first, then to hydrocarbons through the Fischer-Tropsch process. Chemically it looks like this:
34 H2O → 34 H2 + 17 O2 (Electrolysis)
11 CO2 + 11 H2 → 11 CO + 11 H2O (Reverse water gas shift)
11 CO + 23 H2 → C11H24 + 11 H2O (Fischer-Tropsch)
Combined, the process sums to:
11 CO2 + 12 H2O → C11H24 + 17 O2
That C11H24 you get at the end is the jet fuel.
Put em' together and what do ya got?

who have not themselves examined the questions at issue, but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were
not worth a brass-farthing." Mark Twain
