U.S. President George W. Bush was targeted for assassination by Marxist rebels this week when he visited the city of Cartagena, a Colombian official said Saturday.

www.cnn.com...

Could be...could be...however, it does lead to this thought, perhaps as stated in a different thread on the board --when the President pulled one of his secret service men out of a group of chilean security forces--
the true assasination attempt was in Chile and Colombia is agreeing to take the fall for it.
I saw President Bush's visit to Colombia on Univision, and compared to the Chilean effort for security , it was like comparing apples to oranges. There were Policia Militar (Colombian Police) and regular Colombian Army standing at arms length around the area of the visit. A lot of security. I am aware that they story states that it was from information recovered from an informant, but it still make me wonder.

Thoughts?

nor
La Vanguardia LIberal,

have any reference to this

Kind of ironic...he wants to let the latinos in the US to work, and some decide to kill him. I love the man, but I think that's one idea that should be abandoned. Seal off the border and send the illegals we have now back to where they should be...

So are you advocating becoming a "closed country" ? No one in, no one out?

I did find an entry in El Tiempo that makes mention of the attempt. It was way down the page. Strange spot for it,IMO Colombians love sensational news.......

Personally I'm not suprised by this news. Theres probably a couple hundred Americans who seriously wouldn't mind killing Bush. Heres three reasons why people would want to kill him.

  1. He's president of a nation
  2. He's president of the US
  3. His foriegn policy is a disaster

What do you think the millions of protestors around the world are thinking ? Mr. Bush, let's have a tea and a civilized argument over some of your policies ?

Perhaps it was a ploy, a bit of disinformation to feed the press to support Bush's standing in the polls, take the countries eye off of Iraq and the mideast and fire up his supporters? It wouldn't be surprising to see this kind of thing being done to distract the people of the U.S. from other serious concerns. Look at what the lack of threat reporting for the week prior did for Black Friday ... sales were up all over the place, even exceeding expectations. Too bad most of it was paid for in personal debt ... i.e. credit cards.

No, they are too stupid and uncivlized to to engage in diplomacy. Same as the cowardly terrorists in Iraq with their sissy black ski masks that run and hide behind women and children and in their 'mosques'.

BTW, this is't the first time an American president has been targeted down there. I posted a reference to Clinton in another thread. Hell, they even target their own presidents.

Nice talk, eh? Wishing bad upon another usually brings karma around to bite you in the arse.

I don't see any Americans calling for the death of your leaders.
