I am so Annoyed and upset with this.. Its an ENDANGERED SPECIES , how can these Morons be given free rights in Pakistan to hunt the species . This is a shame . AM really upset with this . I hope U.N takes action on him and puts his royal ass in Guantanamo

I am an avid outdoorsman and hunter. Most of all I'm a conservationist.

This kind of thing makes me physically ill. Under no circumstance should anyone get away with poaching an endangered species.. I don't care what background you come from.

Poachers are the scum of the earth... even if that wretched pond scum is a prince.

This story makes no sense, it says the Prince himself was killing on some days 120 or 197 birds never less than 90. That does not count anybody else as they also give another number for the rest of the party. So lets say he spent 8 hours hunting a day that would be on average 20 birds an hour for 8 hours not stop. And he did this every day for like 3 weeks straight. Those numbers make no sense. However, it would not be out of the ordinary for a the people who surround a member of the Royal Family to greatly exagerate or even make numbers to make them seem like great hunters capable of super human feats. So I am calling bunk on all the numbers. I am sure he did do some hunting for a few hours here and there and maybe even managed to shoot a few but, the rest is just a tall tale to show what a great manly hunter he is.

I think we may be missing a rather important fact here..

If That Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, is the same Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud who went hunting....
Then it may be that he sees the birds as "his own property" since he's the one who funded their breeding project in the first place, (presumably to allow himself to continue hunting them?)

That might explain;
a) His actions in hunting them as he pleases, and
b) Pakistan allowing him to do so.
(Not to mention the Billions of dollars given in aid etc)
i.e. How many thousands of these birds has his breeding programme released into the wild?

The hunt is still an absolutely despicable act, but I can see how the Sultan might view it slightly differently.

Regardless of whether he breeds an endangered species or not he shouldn't be poaching them for his own sick amusement. But then again, these Saudi's send rapists to Syria for their sick objectives so I wouldn't expect nothing less from these sand monkeys.

This, this is why I have to continuously post the following, and I get flamed every single time for it..

First a disclaimer: I have zero tolerance for the "religion of Peace" I do not agree with Islamic teaching, I do not personally like Islamic teachings, I think that most of their "rules" and "laws" are best left in the Dark ages and going one step further I think that Mohammed was one of the most violent and totally off the wall people to ever live, not to mention a raging pedophile. We tend to in the "western world" (and I do not mean just the United States or just the UK or whatever) impose our own sense of values and morals on the rest of the world. We tend to see things as we would like to see them, and if it doesn't fit our "cause du jour" we poopoo it, and berate it. The first step in learning to get along with other cultures is to understand they do not have the same moral code or the same legal code or even the same thought processes as we do, we cannot, or I should say, should not, immediately jump and condemn another culture because they do something we feel is "immoral" or "illegal" it may very well not be in their culture or society. Does that mean that we cannot strongly suggest that they see things a different way? Of course not, I'd love for Saudi Arabia and the UAE to start to understand that Women should be allowed to drive, and hold office, and run businesses, and own land, and have 100% equal say as a man in court, but.... I am not going to berate the whole society because they believe otherwise, nor am I going to call for them to be hunted or shot or whatever, yes they are backwards in their thinking, yes they need to join the world community and understand that their "moral codes" are so far back in time that it's holding them back, but it doesn't make them "bad" people, it makes them people in need of enlightenment (whatever that enlightenment may be, I'm not thinking religious here)

Am I appalled when I read a story like this? Of course, it's always sad to see things hunted for nothing more than sport, but I can understand where these people may not see the situation as I do and they are acting in accordance with their belief system, something none of us, lest we get ripped apart for ours, have the right to bash another upon.

At first the numbers didn't work for me from a different perspective... I figured that even if the hunting was exceptional, and less than sporting, you still would be missing about 20%-30% of the time, so we are talking 130 shells a day, and this particular fowl is rather large, so 12 ga with a good stout load... You're not going to be too gung ho after three or four days.. But that is the American in me... This is a Saudi prince... He doesn't shoot... He practices falconry, which changes the dynamic in more ways than one...

It's bird on bird crime... Does that make it better?

how do you explain the poachers poaching deer around here?
