The great northern nation has been struck again! During the early morning hours on Saturday, April 19, around 2:10 a.m. to be exact, Russian commuters in the northern city of Murmansk got a real jolt as a suspected meteorite explosion in the night sky lit up the dark landscape before them

A suspected meteorite explosion has been recorded by citizens of the northern Russian city of Murmansk.

Multiple drivers with dashcams out on the streets of the 300,000-people city at 2.10am on Saturday noticed a bright blue trail speed across the night sky, then explode while still in the air.

Most observers identified the object as a meteorite, though officials have neither confirmed it nor said where the fragments are likely to have landed. Others speculated that the object may have been space debris, re-entering the atmosphere.

While the fiery object seems to have exploded in what could be an air burst, no damage to the surrounding area has been reported for now

Thanks for posting this.

Things seem to be accelerating in this arena - especially around Russia.

Actually, things seem to be accelerating in a number of seemingly unrelated areas of late. Earthquakes, meteors, a slew of new discoveries in the quantum physics world, discoveries/announcements in astronomy related to a ton of new exoplanets (habitable & otherwise) just to name a few from the science category. To say nothing of other categories. It seems that we're rushing towards...something. Or maybe something is rushing towards us...

That aside, the rash of meteor sightings does merit particular notice & attention. All it takes is for one good-sized rock to come smashing down to radically change everything. Or a large number medium sized rocks in a few key places...

That happens to me often as well, that search function isn't the greatest.

I usually use both the new and the old search function but the old one no longer works
If the search title isn't worded just so, it's a hit or miss
