Term limits are good. That's the first thing on the agenda, along with corporate lobbyist banishment.

Hmm... nothing but crickets from the local dems and reps. They must all be under orders not to talk with us "libertarian" types of people in case some of the ideas rub off on them.

I know!!!
You want to get the Progressive Dem's in here, start taking apart their Nanny State Crap!
Progressive's Love their entitlements, Free Stuff, they like being told how fast to drive down hill and in how a kid is suppose to be seated in a car set.
They love to be told to park their car's in the garage, mow their grass and put their trash cans out of site or get FINED!
Yes, Progressive's like to live in HOA's and have their daily lives controlled, they'll use the excuse, it's so they'll have a high resale value in their home, That's B S they like the control and they like have the authority to turn in their neighbor for violating a rule.

They can stand on their own two feet and think for themselves or fend for themselves. They need some form of Government to take care of them from Cradle to Grave!

Forgot to add my score: Your PERSONAL issues Score is 80% Your ECONOMICS issues Score is 100%

Oh gee. I wound up down in the big government side on the quiz. Just because I think a country needs somebody controlling things because I know how twenty percent of the people here are, they label me a government man. Those twenty percent will cause grief for the other eighty percent if we give them a chance.

I consider myself a liberal because I choose not to have others dictate to me how to live based upon their religion of choice and I believe that "Liberal", "Libertarian" are closely related.......

You know I luv ya, but damn! Stop giving Progressives more credit than they deserve!

Hey I resemble that remark!

Just so you know I'm really only pushing the Libertarian party because none of the anarchist will agree to form a party. Any change we can get has got to be an improvement, come on, the government isn't big or corrupt enough to merit a real change?

i swear this has irony written all over it...

I promise in a few hrs i will contribute to this thread about how libertarians are so loved by the esablishment.

i dont view myself as anything really.. cause i am back and forth on topics but i strictly stick to what the constitution states.. for me there is no middle room.. if it worked for us for 120 or so yrs... then it had to do something right...

that goes for my views also.. personally i dont like guns.. but i am glad people can hang out and shoot things.. cause the 2nd admendment is what gkves us some protection against tyranny..

when all other admendments in the bill of right fail... you can always count on the 2nd...

You really think it matters what people vote?

Seriously, any real 3rd party candidate will get marginalized like Ron Paul did. If they think the Libertarians are picking up steam they will do exactly what the Kochs did for the "Tea Party" - f@#k it over!

The beginnings of the Tea Party were solid. It was then taken over by big money and a bunch of Koch supported idiots.

The same thing will happen to the Libertarian party if it gets any momentum. Nice idea, but when you wake up to what history tells you what has to happen it might be too late.

No arguments on that, history is pretty clear about what needs to happen. Just figured I'd put this thread out there in a last ditch effort to rally for a possible change for the better. I'm not holding my breath though.

We will have change in this country. It's coming, TPTB can either do this the quiet civilized way or they can do it the loud and painful way. Personally I think they deserve the latter but will hold out the former, for a short while anyway.

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 70%

Your ECONOMICS issues Score is 90%

This quiz has been taken 21,279,826 times

According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is...

LIBERTARIAN

This Country's main problem, as I see it , is that many in government try to use the Constitution to protect the Government.
This is not what this Awsome awe inspiring document was intended for.
Many people fail to realize that one of the main purposes of the Constitution was to protect the people.
This is SUPPOSED to be "A Country for the People, by the People".
Instead today we have "A Country for the Politician/Government, by the Politician/Government.
I am honestly thinking that it does not matter who you vote for anymore. They will put into office whom so ever they want.
If someone, who is not bought and paid for, runs for office they vilify them. They portray them in every and all negative light they can.
They don't do this to keep the person from getting the vote because votes don't matter anymore.
THEY DO THIS SO YOU WILL NOT BE SURPRISED WHEN THEY DON'T GET THE MAKE BELIEVE VOTES.
They already know who will be President in 2016. The only problem they have is making you believe that person actually won the election. And from the looks of things that is kinda easy these days.
I still have hope though. I will vote this year and pray that I am wrong about the situation.
In 2016 I will vote for Rand if he is on the ticket.
I have hope but there's not much left at this point

I feel that libertarian is rather anarchic and loosely defined. Everything affects everything and even much like the free speech zones being implemented today what will the ideal libertarian state contain?

Yes it is and that's a good thing. Anyone who looks can see the citizens of this country are bound up in a web of ridiculous regulations and laws.

Ideally if what I'm doing or you're doing doesn't cause others any trouble then it's OK. I think we could use a little loosening of the noose from around our throats.

I agree with the OP. Loosely defined and anarchist sounds better than the status quo, IMHO. Unless you're one of the privileged, upper echelon one-percenter types, the status quo isn't doing you any favors.

Progress will happen when we start choosing our leaders from pools that aren't in politics. At this point I really don't care where they come from, but the "game" has ruined our current politicians for good.

It's become a very trendy thing to call oneself a "Libertarian" because if you don't give it a whole lot of thought, it sounds pretty good! Leave me alone and I'll leave you alone! In it's purest form, true Libertarianism advocates a dissolution of the state which is fundamentally, Anarchism.

Government didn't spring up from nothing. In any society of appreciable size and density, there will always arise a need for a body to coordinate all of the things that individuals cannot do on their own. Let's start with a simple list:

Defense
Legislation
Adjudication
Law Enforcement
Infrastructure

If you believe that we need a government for those things, you're already a limited government conservative, not an actual "Libertarian." In a Libertarian society, the free market should give rise to corporations that provide the services we're accustomed to — things like building roads and bridges (infrastructure) which doesn't sound too bad, pay tolls for roads you actually use instead of taxes for all of the roads but what about law enforcement? I'm sure some private law enforcement franchise system could be created but without some sort of oversight, what keeps our these guns for hire from running amok?

For the sake of argument, let's pretend that Libertarian really just means as small a government as possible to ensure that people are protected from invasion, criminals, and have an infrastructure but are otherwise unimpeded in the pursuit of their personal liberty and accumulating all the personal property they can muster.

Enjoy your cell phone working? Well with no oversight by the FCC, anyone can broadcast anything on any band they want, good luck with your communications. Do you like not getting poisoned by food producers or sold drugs that don't do what they're supposed to and have even worse side effects than the crap your already taking? That'll get you an FDA. Unless you want "Libertarian" heroes like the Koch Brothers running drainage ditches from their Georgia Pacific plants into your supply of freshwater, you're probably going to need an EPA. Don't like 8 year old children working 80 hours a week in limb chopping factories? Might want some labor laws, probably an agency to oversee compliance like OSHA. Like air travel? We're going to need an FAA. If you want to have public lands for parks and recreation, you're going to need a park service and some sort of land management. Everything wiped out by a natural disaster? Assuming Ron Paul isn't going to come bail you out, you're probably going to need something like FEMA. Don't like the idea of your neighborhood turning to 3-mile island? NRC. Even with a super simplified tax code, somebody has to be responsible for collecting taxes to fund what you do like, that's going to get you an agency similar to the IRS. Feel like bartering for things with chickens and ammo? Maybe paying for things exclusively with gold bullion? Probably not, so if you want currency, you'll need a Treasury Department. Assuming that you see a need for currency, you're going to want some sort of banking system, even if you have some insane trust in bankers, you'll probably want some assurance that if you deposit money in a bank and it fails, you're not going to lose everything, that's the FDIC. Can't have a functional stock market without an SEC. What about unscrupulous business practices? FTC.

This list can go on and on and on. The simple fact of the matter is that much of what has evolved into government functions arose out of necessity and is not part of a misguided attempt to create a socialist nanny state. So many people are caught up in the notion that Libertarianism is the antithesis of Authoritarianism that they ignore the simple truth that it actually runs contrary to the evolution of society.
