My wife just called me from Guadalajara to tell me they just had a BIG earthquake. I checked USGS and there has been a 7.5 just east of Tecpan de Galeana, Mexico.

Bearing in mind the distance involved here, she told me that the room was shaking hard and long, the lamps was all shaking and out bed, which is a heavy wood base, was banging heavily. The water in the pool is still vibrating now I am told. So, if it was felt this strong so far way, there not telling what the damage is like at the epicenter.

Hopefully nothing serious happened to those people.
The news say that thousands of people have no electricity.

This is horrible news, and I hope everyone you know is safe. I posted this on the other thread when someone mentioned it was Good Friday:

An earthquake was a part of the crucifixion, and probably many people in the affected area will remember or comment upon that. Hopefully this was the major quake, did it have a series of foreshocks? - See more at:

I am sure there will be more than one reference to that there in Mexico, given the staunch Catholic population.

I am sure most will see this as a bad omen. Perhaps due to Pena Nieto, but that is just wishful thinking.

Seems to be bouncing back and forth across the pacific, so if there is another on the asian side, then I would say less watch out west coast!

This quake may cause the faith of some Catholics to get stronger. I hope all are well in that area.
