I am no "Mooner" as you put it....I am merely stating the facts....we have no vehicle capable right now to get humans out of LEO...

We do, Orion, and its first test will be later this year.

NASA Slips First Test Flight of Orion Space Capsule to December

let alone travel to Mars. Nor is there any funding for such a challenge. It would cost trillions...money that certainly the US does not have.

A NASA Mars mission has been estimated at costing around $50 billion.

About the cost of a new aircraft carrier.

Other studies like Mars Direct estimated the cost to be less than that, as low as $10 billion.

About the cost of 5 stealth bombers.

Doesn't matter what was done 40+ years ago....those days are long gone.

That they are but exploration continues and plans for human spaceflight beyond Earth are in the works.

Even if there was the political will (which there isn't) it would take a decade or more to develop and test the equipment needed.

You must not keep up on these subjects because as I showed, the first test is scheduled for later this year.
