Thanks Doc! I would certainly miss all my friends here on ATS if someone were to pass. I have grown close to you, Nat, Littled and others. Peace.

First off, I'm so sorry about your friend.

Secondly, it is a beautiful poem, Greyeagle! When someone I know passes, I'm compelled to think about my own death as well.
What mark have I made on the world? Did I make it a better place somehow? I don't know - really. I hope so. In any case, it helps me reevaluate my direction, and motivates me to live more fully.

Keep writing - words like breadcrumbs of the soul - markers - cairns - that others may find and see. They are legacies in and of themselves.

peace to you - and thank you so much for sharing this poem!

- AB

Tears flood my eyes after I read this .. I'm so sorry for your loss my friend...

I love you grayeagle, though we've never met, your words ring so true...

Hero's ARE the one's that still race to danger, race to save those who can't save themselves from certain fate and look to others who can. Soldier's and civilians are alike in their task upon this earth; to save those around them and help them up, even at the cost of giving what they don't have, and believe in their Creator / higher power to compensate in their time. Even at the cost of their very lives.

Sacrifice & Giving.

It is, and always has been needed by the human race to survive, to go without, personally, in order to gain something more valuable... is and always will be the goal to make things better in the world where we live..

I believe your close friend was that Hero...

This week I lost a fellow classmate and wonderful friend. It was unexpected and caught all of his friends by surprise. I am left speechless without enough words to say how much he meant to me. It has caused me to ponder my own obituary. What would it mean? What would the words really say? I ended up writing this short poem and it is without revision so it is still rough.

I was born, I lived, and I died
obituary for the whisper of my life.
How many breath formed words will survive
this common life that existed inside

dreams of being a hero
someone of respect
someone of character
someone of recognition

I learned to walk
I learned to run
I learned to jump
but no one taught me how to fall

While some things appeared true
there was much that felt like a lie
what is important? becomes a cruel question,
justification no longer works to
purge my guilty soul

I could have loved so much better
I could have forgiven so much sooner
I could have reached out with kindness
extended my hand in acceptance

I became emotionally deaf and dumb
blinded and gagged by fear
I withdrew inside and sought shelter
in the safety of my rhealm
the kindom of my imagination

A place of victory over darkness
the celebration of the light
with laughter and merryment
of song and dance

Say nothing of me when I pass
only play a merry and happy tune
hold hands and dance
look across the circle and smile
for we will meet again in a while

Here is something I stumbled across years ago OP. www.cancer.gov...

You can make a soup from soup bones with cartilage and eat that. It does reduce the tumors, I don't know about brain tumors exactly, and it does not effect a person too much. I wouldn't try the shark cartilage, it is too expensive. Beef soup bones are cheap.

Think of this, our ancestors ate the cartilage around the bone all the time. We used to have some ground in our burger, but people did not like that. The chemicals are heat stable so making soup is viable. Having a bowl of homemade soup twice a week is good medicine. There is a chemical in the cartilage of chicken dark meat that is a very good antihistamine, people with allergies should eat the dark meat. It also is higher in chemistry that calms people than the white meat.

Beef soup bones are cheap, about 2.29 a lb. Also beef short ribs have cartilage around them so having some BBQ short ribs is a good choice also. Make sure the BBQ sauce doesn't contain Soy or MSG, that would be counterproductive.

This info can shrink tumors but not get rid of the cancer altogether. You would have to trigger an immune response to get rid of it totally after that. This is your life and you have to decide what you do. I can only give you information on reducing the risk. On top of that I am not completely sure if this chemical will cross the blood brain barrior. You have to eat anyway, this is less expensive than eating at McDonalds. A big pot of soup can be made for six to seven bucks and it tastes great. If you need a recipe, I can help you. I have studied the properties of some spices and a few herbs. Celery or parsly are a vital part of soups. You will also need to regenerate the brain cells, that comes later.

Aww..grayeagle...I just found this thread.
I am so sorry about your friend...truly.

The poem was beautiful...painfully so.
There are many people grieving losses...you are in good company here.

You are also known....and would be greatly missed by your fellow Shed-dwellers!
When you feel like, please stop by again and say hello. (I know the others would be happy to see you!)

Take care, friend....

Hey friend... I'm truly sorry to hear about your friends passing.. Death never comes easy.

Your poem was beautiful. I enjoyed that.
A poem would be perfect for an obituary... At least I think so.

I just read my moms obit .. I don't like it. My whole family fought over who's name would be put down. It was sad and discouraging...and now I read it..and it's just a bunch of family members names that she left behind.. Can't change it now..

Here would be mine if I had a choice...

*She lived loved laughed and danced
She was in love with a good romance

She always showed a kind smile
As she was dying inside for awhile

She tried to love life with all her might
But the darkness took her swiftly at night

Her son, sister and lover were her everything
It's already done...nothing can change*

I really am sick of this darkness that is looming over me.. Well more like exhausted from it...
My condolences to you my friend.. Have a lovely day

Sorry about the departure of your friend. You've chosen beautiful words to honor your great friendship.

My heart goes out to you.

When, I pass... I hope they all laugh about all of the good memories we've had together. In fact, I hope they put me in a coffin with my cell phone fully charged. The darn thing rings every five minutes. That'll get the party started.

May great peace be upon you grayeagle... its what your friend would want for you too.

Here lies the body of Les Moore
Took two slugs from a 44
No Les no more.

It was a cough that carried him off
And a coffin they carried him off in.

These grave saying can be found outside the Haunted Mansion in Disney World. I take no credit for the poetry.

We die and are forgotten like we never existed.

Yep. In my case I think that's rather accurate.
I have a husband who will miss me. That's really it.
My daughter will be off and independent soon.
My mother ... passive/aggressive self centered and wouldn't notice.
My father is already dead. The dog will be in dog heaven soon.
Co-workers? I have none. i'm stuck home now.
Neighbors? Don't see them much except to wave and say 'hi' in the driveway.
Friends? I don't get out much. I can't do things like others can anymore.
ATS? People come and go ... mostly banned or bored. They are forgotten quickly.

But that's fine. I don't mind. Some religions or 'philosophies' say that
it's best not to be tied down or attached to Earthly things and it's best for the
people here not to hold you back when you die ... hold you back by their missing
you intensely ... otherwise you are stuck here as a ghost until they let you go.
So I'm fine with being forgotten like I didn't even exist. No problem.
I'm looking forward to moving on ...

Then we have
Dear old Mary Lass
Missed the breaks and hit the gas.

Here lies my wife.
I bid her good bye.
She now rests in peace.
And so do I.

Lizzy Bordens father lies here.
And here.
And here.
And here...
