I am sick and tired of stepping over, shoveling up, snow blowing, raking, bagging and removing peoples dog crap!

If you live in an apartment building, and you own a dog....
I am talking to you!

I am not your maid, your butler or your personal servant!
I am your caretaker.

I keep your halls clean, your grounds clean, watch out for you so you don't have mishaps due to slippery sidewalks, obstacles in hallways, drunken unwanted guests, drug dealers, car break-ins, glass in the playground, and clean windows and entries into your apartment complex.

And this is the thanks I get?
Spring rolls around and I have to remove 100's of pounds of dog crap!!
You know it is in your lease to remove all pet waste after your pet does it's thing, so why don't you do it????

Today I removed the dog crap bin. That's right, it is gone! You never used it anyways.
Now you have to walk the extra 5 feet to the dumpster to throw your bags of dog poop in it.

Next I will be informing you that you must get rid of your dog,
because you have violated your lease several times over the course of the winter,
and last summer.....all of you.
If I catch you...
your dog is gone.

Notices were sent out months ago warning you of this drastic measure, but some of you just can't seem to be responsible with your pets. So now which is more important, a place to live? Or your dog? better think hard on that next time you take your dog out to do it's duty, because I am watching, and I am going to catch you, just like the heroin dealer I chased off the property.

Just like the people on the trespass list I escort out of the building,
you will be next if I catch you allowing your dog to poop on my lawn/sidewalk/road/hallway.

And for those of you who do take care of your dogs poop in the proper ways,

THANK YOU.

*end of rant*

Put up a bulletin board, and post pics of offending poop deniers...

Yep, Darkblade. Take pics of them standing by as their pooping pooch breaks the rules of apartment grounds etiquette.

Call it the "Poop Wall of Shame".

That has been one of the suggestions and possible outcomes of this.

We might just do that, or something similar.

Some dog owners don't care and it's attributed to pure selfishness along with the thought that they are much too good to pick up after a dog.
Hey, as long as it's not on their personal property to hell with everyone else, to hell with the one who has to pick it up, to hell with the people who step in it.
At my apartments, we have courtesy bag poles stationed all throughout the complex for dog owners to use, yet there is still poop all over the place. The grilling and picnic areas cannot be enjoyed because of this problem. It's disgusting and it's completely rude because I, along with several other neighbors cannot enjoy an amenity that we are actively paying for. What some people fail to understand is that their dogs poop attracts flies and because of this, one or several of their neighbors cannot enjoy any quiet time on the balcony without having to swat fecal-flies off of them. I live across the street from a really high end apartment complex and one day I saw a lady and her giant dog cross the street and walk over onto our apartments which has an open layout. That woman allowed her dog to poop on OUR property and proceeded to walk back to her luxury living apartments. After she left, I hurled it back on over to her side, wish I knew where she lived, I would have placed it on her doorstep. Something they do in some states/countries

I love dogs, don't get me wrong. I used to have one myself, but the level of inconsideration and selfishness amongst some of their owners is atrocious. I applaud the owners who pick up after their dogs, it shows responsibility and thoughtfulness, However, too many of them don't. Currently, I am searching for some dog free apartments due to this issue but they are very hard to find these days. I wish I could say your job will get easier but it won't, too many inconsiderate people, it has nothing to do with their dogs. They were most likely that way before the animals.

Preach it, Brother Darkblade!! Can I have an AMEN???

AMEN

There is nothing more rude than to not clean up after your pet, especially when someone else then must do it for you.
If you can't handle picking it up in a baggie, then maybe you need to think twice about owning a pet. That's part of it.

Anyway, thumbs up! I hope you follow Destiny's advice or figure some way to hold people accountable, if they can't be responsible in and of themselves...

peace,
AB

Excellent suggestion! Enough is enough! If they can't be a responsible dog owner then get rid of the dog. Stay on them and don't let them get away with this!!!!!!

You know, if it didn't smell so bad,
I would hang people's dog's crap on their door knobs.

LOL, love that suggestion. You have to see this one. At some apartments in NC, DNA testing done on all animals upon move in. Whenever there is poop found, it's DNA tested and owner is fined and then charged for the cost of the DNA test.

Your link didn't work, but I went and found the story...
I have to share that with my boss!!

I doubt the company would go that far, however, that is an awesome way of catching someone!

Agree, 100%

I hate when Im on a trail with my dog, or park, diligently with my stupid belt clip of poop bags, carrying loads of my best friends crap.

And I see someone walking their dog letting them # where ever.

Last time I got fed up, bagged the poop I saw and tossed it at the guys feet.

YOU have a dog, DO the necessaries things that come with it.

Its not even a child where you can say "whoops",

You chose a dog, deal with the responsibility.

I don't own a dog so I am not a player in this, but I did just receive a note on my door regarding this topic. It says the apartment management will now be scanning the security cameras for people violating the pick up after your dog rule. The notice said each violation will be $50. If I had a dog and was violating the rule, I would probably start picking up after my pet after receiving this notice. Worth a try.

I'm sure it's a very costly process. Surely they could use all the money they rack up in pet rent to pay for something like this. But would they? Probably not. Apartment management companies only care about the money. They will do whatever it takes to make money which is why soooo many places now more than ever are accepting pets. It doesn't matter what kind of neighbor you are anymore, as long as the rent is paid on time.

This is why so many people resort to smearing poop on the owners door or car, placing it on doorsteps or placing it inside their mailbox (in single home residential areas) Most complaints go unheard. If the offenders know they're getting away with it then they will continue to do it. I suggest apartments start awarding anyone who can identify the offenders with things like movie tickets or $10 gift cards. Very cheap alternative and would motivate tenants to keep an eye out. Offenders would then know they are possibly being watched. The fines incurred would more than make up for the cost of gift cards and movie tickets.

I remember some years back smokers would be separated from non smokers, pet owners were separated from non pet owners, families were separated from singles. Now, with so many people screaming DISCRIMINATION and apartment management companies hungry for a dollar, those considerations are done away with. I'll never understand why people have dogs in apartments in the first place? Isn't that considered cruelty? This is one of the reasons why I'm waiting until I purchase a home with a sprawling backyard before I get another dog.

OP, I hope I haven't offended you by talking about the company that employs you, it wasn't my intent. I figured you are your own separate entity. My apologies in advance

The ones that bag the crap.
Then throw the bag on the ground.
They are the real winners. I guess they had the decency to pre-bag it so it wont degrade ever.

I know that I may get flamed for this, but run it. This is ATS. I've been frequenting this joint for many years, far more than my join-up date. That being said, why in the hell are we here discussing something as trivial as dogs#!t? Seriously, with all the BULL$#!t going on, I can't even fathom why anyone would get on ATS, of all places and rant about dog$#!t. Get a blog. Yep, it's confirmed, we're screwed. Flame on...I'm thick-skinned and armed with fire as well.

Well Darn. I guess we might as well notify the owners of ATS, they can shut down all the forums, except for the ones you deem important.

What a work load that will save them. Catering only to you...
