The Bureau of Land Management says its 200-man armed siege of the Cliven Bundy ranch in Nevada is all about protecting an "endangered tortoise." But a Natural News investigation has found that BLM is actually in the business of raking in millions of dollars by leasing Nevada lands to energy companies that engage in fracking operations.

Well, there's the reason behind your loving Bureau of Land Management stealing Bundy's cattle and pushing him off the land his family grazed since the late 1800s. And it has NOTHING to do with protecting tortoises.

Like always, it's all about the mighty dollar. And rather than having anything to do with protecting the environment, it's all about destroying it.

Truth is, any time there's a dollar to be made--regardless of the cost to the environment, to human life, or to justice--this corrupt federal government is all over it. With revelations like this coming out, does anyone here really doubt the feds are running the drug trade? If they're willing to steal land out from under farmers, they're damn sure willing to push heroin and coc aine on we the people.

Does anyone doubt the feds are using NSA data to rig and exploit financial markets? Or that they'd get involved in child pornography and prostitution if the price was right?

Face facts--there's nothing, nothing, NOTHING this corrupt government won't do for a dollar.

As long as we keep running a society based on the accumulation of material wealth, one where the "winner" is the one who dies with the greatest number of toys, we'll keep having to deal with psychopathic overlords who strive to game the system, believing they can and should rob/cheat/steal/lie and break the laws they create in order to come out on top.

Only once we start respecting human life and basic liberties more than the pursuit of material acquisition will we break free from this cycle of misery. Bundy chose to take a stand for these basic principles, and I for one salute him.

And to think that this whole government conspiracy to defraud the poor defenseless public could have been averted if Bundy had just paid his grazing fees....

OH ! The humanity!!!!!!!

Awe, the government wants the fracking chemicals and resulting radioactivity to kill the tortoises instead of the cows. How nice of them.

This is wonderful - that's what america needs - we need the tree-hugging "environmentalist" to be standing right next to the conservative, 2nd amendment people - and this IS all over the media now.

Let's call this tyrannical gov't just what it has become - in front of everybody.

This silly administration can't seem to pull a false flag out of a hat - everything they do, ends up backfiring on them.

PS - when people realize the dumbocrats and the repulicans are really the same - maybe, we can take our country back.

Enviro's know all about the BLM. We have been calling them the Bureau of Logging and Mining for many many years.

The rancher is flat out in the wrong and so are the protestors. It clouds the real reason people should be protesting the BLM, fracking.

Someday someone is going to look back and say something like "Can you believe those idiots actually fractured the very ground under their own feet in the pursuit of profit? Especially given the proximity of the safest nuclear reactor in the Galaxy, the sun".....

Stupid stupid humans.

I'd say the first problem is the source.

The Bureau of Land Management has just cashed in with $1.27 million in oil and gas leases in Nevada.

Suggesting that is the motivation is so ludicrous as to be laughable. What's going on now will cost far beyond that amount, so why pretend they are doing this over the "$1.27 million in oil and gas leases".

I'm not buying it and I doubt there is any story here beyond the truthful one we have been seeing in the news. This is just a made up sensationalized theory to attract people to view the ads and buy the products.

Considering that almost all of the new oil and gas development in this country is being done on private and state land I'm frankly skeptical of this claim. I'd have an easier time believing this if they were kicking the rancher off land because he was trying to develop the land for fracking.

By that token, isn't it possible and likely that what the BLM are doing now also costs more than the family could owe for uncollected grazing fees? I have no idea, but it sure seems likely.

This wreaks of an agitation, setting a precedent.

I gotta ask a dumb question. Who is going to profit from the fracking? Is there a corporation behind the BLM?

Blaine, you are a mod here. If you want to shed that to post, all well and good, but give something other than just an opinion, not even a balanced one at that. Here's what I found, since it is not mentioned so far here.
(1) the rancher's Federal permit was changed, (presumably about the tortoise habits) modifying the amount of grazing time per year and he stopped paying at some stage later on.
(2) He continued to graze.
(3) At some stage the BLM closed that area of grazing altogether... Why out of spite? or some great intellectual awakening.
(4) There appears to be dues of over a $1 Million owed by the rancher from the period the wrangle started, say less than thirty years, but go with the thirty. That's $330,000 a -decade, £33,000 a year. that's a lot of grazing fee for average 200 cattle per breeding season, it should be more of a token fee.
(5) Who the feck thought up those protest 'First amendment' designated areas?..step out of them and you may be arrested.

You are forgetting the royalties, which could be in the hundreds of millions annually from a well producing field. 1 or 2 million is just the rights to set up shop. It's a big business, and fracking is the new goldrush.

I fear the cause celebe may be a little tarnished with controversy.......but the spark just need flint to strike steel one time and the whole country could be ablaze...............im not kidding either....
The people are far from uninformed and they have been held down economically for decades now.....sooner or later somebody will set themselves on fire and the civil war will kick off just like the popular revolutions in other countries.....

Now we are getting closer to the truth.
We need to start making sure the people who profit the most from these kids of things have michael hastings like 'accidents' so that others won't be so willing to engage in the same type of corruption.
That is our problem, we are willing to get steam-rolled by backdoor deals with politicians and not do anything about it.
Criminals are cowards at heart and white collar even more so.

However you are missing the main point of why this is so egregious. The government is using the tortoise as a lever to confiscate land rights from a rancher who has held those rights for over 100 years. The government in effect seized the ranchers property when they started restricted his land use rights and upped his grazing fees. There was no compensation for that seizure, so which amendment does that violate? The fifth..

" nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

Furthermore the public nature of that land was that it had belonged to the people of Nevada and I believe the county where he lives. The fed.s just helped themselves to that, no doubt fulfilling their UN agenda 21 takeover. The grazing rights and mineral rights were the property of the ranch land owners and were unjustly seized by the fed.s a couple of decades ago or so.

This problem is just been festering until now.

I found this quote from Cliven Bundy, which tells you almost all you need to know about federal policies against ranchers,

“Years ago, I used to have 52 neighboring ranchers,” he said. “I’m the last man standing. How come? Because BLM regulated these people off the land and out of business.”

I'm really curious where people get their information about fracking? I have to assume that it is different depending on where it is done? All I know is fracking in North Dakota has made people rich from big oil in Norway to farmer Bob. Instant millionaires in Wisconsin all because they have the right kind of sand. The amount of jobs, high paying, all this creates is crazy too.
...but let me know if a big earthquake hits North Dakota and I will rethink my position.

I was taking it that people already realised that despite the fancy talk, it was a land grab, but your right. One thing that got me when reading a local paper link, is that all that confiscated land is now considered private?? Elsewhere it is given as Federal and public, so the land must now be federal, public and private. Crazy stuff! Had to laugh at the Tortoise being a lever bit, though I suppose you could open a tin of beans with him.
