I was just reading about how Russia claimed there was 1,500 American mercenaries in Ukraine the other day. It looks like Russia put it's money where it's mouth is.
To the person who stated "Hang him for all to see". (ETA guess that was... you)
1) Sounds to me like you're discriminating against Americans.
2) Do you really think hanging this guy would solve anything?

T&C's also state no "backscratching" posts, which is exactly what you are all doing, I guess it comes down to picking and choosing which rules to follow when it suits you, kinda like American foreign policy.

Do you really think injecting agent provokedurs and foreign mercs into this would solve anything?

They only are good at one kind of thing, SHOOTING, KILLING and PROVOKING TROUBLE, that is what they are trained for.

A mercs job is risky, life threatening, well, he now gets to reap what he sews. He now gets to face the people he was against, his enemy.

Will any organisation and country back him up? i wouldnt want to be him, he will be hung out to dry even by his own country (and country men as it were) so please don't lecture me on not standing up for him when his own country (and countrymen) wont even do it. That is hypotricial at best.

Yes you are correct that is their job and thats what they are there for. This guy knows the dangers of his job, he has been trained for moments like that. I dont think they should hang him though. That seems a bit extreme, but anything is possible over there right now.

Thanks for posting: some poor misguided young man who for money, country, or a belief, is in a whole lot of trouble and probably soon to be in a lot more pain... Easy to be all tough and puffed up with high sounding thoughts until you are on the receiving end of mans inhumanity to man. I bet he just wants his momma now..

You have to wonder who set that operation up if he is indeed part of an American Op.. Who ordered them in and what is their (his) purpose ? State department, CIA, who knows what their mission parameters are and to what end ? Either way he is gonna find all the support he thought he had will probably evaporate like they say in some mission impossible movie brief.

There is zero credible evidence to suggest this is "real".

I find it peculiar that in just about every video of a captured enemy soldier/combatant, the video shows his full face, some of his equipment/weapons and is filmed in the light in a none shaky manner to extract full propaganda value from it.

In this case we get none of the above.

Why?...IMO it's a bad fake and is purely aimed at stirring up anti-American sentiment...given the crass production value, probably not done by any official group but instead some pro Russian amateurs/pranksters.

I doupt they hang him but if hes prooven to be some shooter there and what not its not good for him either or for the western powers that meddle this situation this way. Wonder thou what kind of action they respond to this.

So your saying you dont believe it because it looks grainy and cheap? I thought it looks like video from an excited soldiers cell phone.. I did question the fact that their grip on him was pretty relaxed and didnt seem like they were trying to hold onto their POW with any force. Im 50/50 on the vid right now.

Because that is what a foreign person does in a foreign country when in trouble.

They try to wiggle out of it by claiming help from their embassy and proclaiming their nationality. Many people do this when abroad and in trouble, they think embassies are a get out of jail free call.

Natural reaction and a self-preserving action.

the get go then, if he wanted to save his
butt? Afterall, they could have also asked him
his rank or name... no?

When you are surrounded by the enemy that could end your life at any time., you shat yourself, not stay calm, the only way you stay calm is if you think you can wiggle out of it, in this case, by using the "I'm a US citizen" flag hoping on their fear of reprisals, this is what it looks like to me. He is calm by using the "US get out of jail free flag".
