CNN) - In what may turn out to be a major breakthrough in the monthlong search for Malaysia Airlines flight 370, a Chinese patrol ship searching the southern Indian Ocean discovered Saturday the pulse signal used by so-called black boxes, state news agency Xinhua reporte.

But the pulse signal has not been confirmed, China's Maritime Search and Rescue Center reported, according to China Communications News, which is the Ministry of Transport's official newspaper.

Possible Malaysia Airlines clue reported

It looks like this could possibly be it.

I have my own theory as to what happened but we will see.

I did a search and did not see this story.

Well it's not that obvious if I did a search on the title and nothing came up.

But thank you.

Sorry, didn't mean to be a dick.
There is a huge thread on this and this event happened like 12 hours or more ago, of course it would have been posted.

Anyway, no worries.

Well it looks like there maybe three seperate "pings".

Houston said the Haixun 01 first detected a signal on Friday Australian time, then when it was not far away about 24 hours later heard a “second acoustic event” lasting about 90 seconds. “In an ocean that size, two kilometers is not a huge distance,” he said.

The acoustic event detected by the Ocean Shield came on Sunday about 300 miles from the Haixun 01’s position, Houston said.

Funny you should say that. I have been searching for information on the Blue Whale project this afternoon as to what frequency their satellite tracking devices, (a pinger and other abilities) operate at. The Blue Whale is/was thought to be endangered and there was/is a project studying them. When I heard about more than one signal 400 miles apart, I remembered this project. Trouble is Google is crappier than ever, so I'll look with a different engine.
