Not only should the world drop trading with the dollar, but diamonds and gold should be set at pennies per pound immediately. Especially diamonds.

I don't understand why oil continues to be such a huge deal for the United States. If the United States would quit shipping it out, get that Canadian pipeline going, open up ANWAR, expand offshore drilling, and other things of that nature, the United States could be self sustaining on oil. There is absolutely no excuse in the world for the United States to be so dependent on foreign oil.

It's time to bring back domestic manufacturing, domestic steel, domestic everything. It's come to the point where the United States has got to become independent and self-sustaining in order to survive.

Think of it another way. Why should the US tap their huge reserves when they can use the rest of the worlds oil?

From a strategic standpoint, it really is quite brilliant. While everyone else is tapping all their countries oil and pumping it out the US is not. When the rest of the world is on the brink of running out of oil, the US can then tap into ANWAR, other offshore sites, etc. and basically have a huge upper hand on the rest of the world.

Don't forget that the US exporting of oil also helps the trade deficit considerably.

US fastest growing energy producer in the world

So for all of you people who think the US is on the brink of collapse, read the above article. The reality is the US is stronger then ever... Well it will be, once Obama is out of office.

I don't know about your dollar comment, but you are spot on with the diamond and gold comment. Good is a worthless metal that is basically useless and we all know that diamonds are artificially rare.

One thing people should consider when they believe the dollar is worthless and the US is broke is the fact that the country sits on trillions of dollars of untapped natural resources.

I also look forward to the day when the USA reveals how much gold it truly has. Everyone thinks the US has no gold, that Fort Knox is empty, but what if that is untrue? What if that is exactly what the US wants people to think? People here think that the US is dumb, but we aren't. Anyone who thinks differently is naive.

This is not true. Even the oil companies know this. The US oil production has turned up recently but it is still well below the peak of 1970-1972, and the total demand is substantially higher.

It's time to bring back domestic manufacturing, domestic steel, domestic everything. It's come to the point where the United States has got to become independent and self-sustaining in order to survive.

Sure, but oil comes from facts of geology. The US areas have been explored and exploited with the maximum technology longer than anywhere else, much of it is gone. The US depleted its conventional oil earlier than anybody else, and it will do so with its shale oil--in not too long the shale revolution will be over in the US.

I don't know if steel is so critical (we aren't building massive cities like China) but agree 100% on the high-tech stuff--we have lost much of the intermediate industrial base necessary to support high tech manfacturing that we used to have. Now they have to make in Asia just because the networks of the companies and expertise has been abandoned elsewhere.

There was an energy crisis back in the 70's, so the US Needed to ramp up production to meet needs.

The only reason companies use Asia for High tech manufacturing is due to the extremely low prices they can get things made for. That tends to happen when a country has no labor laws and can pay their people .10 an hour

If it has to do with the Petrodollar then a war is probably in order otherwise just another opportunity for Putin and the rest of the world to laugh at our spineless president and more of his empty treats.

Obama has no shame, it seems he lives to be an empty suit.

Sure, but then again the Roman empires economy was based off looting its enemies...

As is the US economy...they destroy nation after nation...handing their resources to multi national corporations to flip for a quick buck. Iraq, Libya....it just goes on and on. US banks rob the wealth of it's own as well as the wealth of nations all over the world. The parallels are startling....no?

The US is not the Roman Empire.

No...it is not...it will last nowhere near as long as the Romans did.

China was once a dominate force, correct? it is an old civilization, maybe perhaps they will regain greatness, then the cycle repeats once again.

The Chinese have had a contiguous culture for more than 6000 years....as for them regaining their greatness...indeed they will. In the next year the Chinese economy will replace the US as the worlds largest.

I see so many Americans on this site with no experience in business, or any understanding of it...deriding me for acknowledging the simple truth....and that is that the US is in decline. This trend isn't going to change. US politicians lack the political will to change anything...and their corporate and banking masters are quite happy with the status quo. The US national debt is fast approaching a point of no return.

I take no joy in it. But to close your eyes to the truth will not change what is coming.

Do you believe we will see significant change in our life time? if so, are you willing to contend with losing your lifestyle? assuming your an American that is.

I do. The US and the West are forcing this to happen by taking this adversarial attitude with the rest of the world. China and Russia can see the writing on the wall....they know that the Americans are pushing them into a corner and that conflict is likely...no assured if things continue as they are. They see destroying the American economy as the only potential way to avoid that all out conflict.

Americans falsly assume that the Chinese are somehow less than they....less intelligent, less dynamic, less capable. Total arrogance and stupidity.

All of our lifestyles are going to change radically...mine yours...everyone's. I have non choice but to accept it...it is going to happen whether I accept it to or not. I am prepared as best I can. I suggest you do the same.

The American people MUST rise up...there is still time to stop this. They have to regain control of their government.

How likely do you think that is??

This isnt news to those running this corrupt empire. Sure they will fight the inevitable, but only long enough to rob every American so that they (the corrupt) can survive in whatever new system with which they will be forced to conform. (Remember the Nazis?)

The people will always suffer the most. The American government/military/elite have, ironically, provided us with plenty of examples over the decades. These examples being the people of countries they've completely devastated by 100% avoidable war.

It was time to get prepared yesteryear.

It wont matter how much the elite have saved up in US dollars when the Dollar have no value. They will loose everything, even property.

What they will do before the SHTF is to move to Asia and start a New life there. While the rest of the American population is left to pay the US debt for EVER. The US will never be allowed to become debt free.

Haha, yes, US is finally being seen for what a small cowardly lion it is. Beat up on everyone when its in your favor and call it 'playing by the rules/just playing the game/in everyones best interest' but as soon as the game starts to hurt you start threatening the players and try and cheat and eventually flip the board. Despicable cretin.

The military is only afforded by consistently increasing the nations debt, and inflating the currency, the bubble will pop, there will be no faith in the dollar to purchase resources for the military, no money to pay their salaries, which is currently at an all time waste, and then the ponzi scheme will be seen for what it was, a way to make the rich richer, the poor poorer, and the world a little bit different.

Keep dreaming.

I work in a Bn where Soldiers know and understand whats at stake, as blind as some may be, you have to admire their nationlistic spirit, if it involves the salvation of their family, they will fight just for them. I would.
There is no Ponzi scheme here.
You may continue with the Anti-American rhetoric.

News flash, no countries currencies are backed by gold. Even the renminbi is backed by a basket of currencies, including the dollar.

Yep you gotta love and trust them Saudis. This offer was on the table in Aug 2013. Putin turned them down.

Saudi Arabia has secretly offered Russia a sweeping deal to control the global oil market and safeguard Russia’s gas contracts, if the Kremlin backs away from the Assad regime in Syria.

Here is a link to the article. I couldn't find any info for your reply, can you post a link please, would like to read it.

Interesting thread but some people seem to be living in a sort of fantasy land so I'm going to bring in the realest perspective. The US is giving up leverage over Russia so IDK how much further our threats can go when it comes to non-personnel intervention. Gold value is a bubble inflated by the fiat monetary system so Russia/China would not be doing what's wisest for their wealth if they were to turn oil exchange from fiat to gold based. All in all it looks like the trend is the West continuing to integrate between themselves while they try to isolate the East. A long term trend possibility is the East seeing contracting private sector growth while emerging markets and Wall Street are taken advantage of by the East. This would explain the big emerging/developing market panic, a shake off to coax more money into first world highly developed stock markets.

I don't think so. I think it's more of a way to get the suckers hooked on easy money and easy street. That's the real point of the ponzi scheme, to get people so obsessed with it that they would get out of the militants way. And it worked like a charm. Now we have the masses whom are generously resourced (with gas money) who will basically support anything that will keep this system going and will destroy anyone who is portrayed as a threat to this system. Many people are deluded, even the conspiracy theorists who think communism or gold standard would make them better off. Realistically most of them would be much worse off, extremely vulnerable.
