Gasp the horror !

All them guns getting up all on their own going around hurting people.

Someone must 'Do' something ! ! ! ! !

'gun violence' eh ?

It's a lot harder to do it with your hands, that is the point.

No the point was.

PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE.

And they uses alot of things to kill other people,

But wait that is 'against' the LAW already.

The point of opposing guns was my point.

If are person is going to kill they would have to put some effort into it.

The gun creates the ease, and the ease accounts for the large quantity of Gun deaths that occur in the US as opposed to other civilized nations.

www.americanprogress.org...

Here's the actual study.

I'm going to have to read more, but I've seen fewer holes in swiss cheese.

. . . .

Numbers Are used to push some:?ones agenda that is for sure, all i said was those numbers are sad, even if there skewed, make me sad to see so many deaths that is all.

All I want to do is verify the accuracy of the study.

All you have to do is look at California,Chicago, and Washington DC.

Areas with the highest number of firearm regulations to see the real deal here.

And the agenda that is being pushed.

Well we know you push an agenda, that is implied.

Good points, the gun deaths in California have gone down in recent years, must be due to regulation!

Actually, I'm underscoring how, in order to make a political position, unassailable it is always cloaked as being "for the children." And, when someone dissents, as I have, the person who does so is always, predictably labeled as heartless or told to "go look up compassion in a dictionary"

This report does not conclude
that weak gun laws alone cause gun violence or that strong gun laws alone prevent
gun violence but rather that the association suggests a potential causal relationship.

This is the best they could come up with. Still reading the "study" but the only sources that the group used were from progressive sites. So I'll have to verify THEIR studies in order to determine any accuracy.

Not the GD point is it is just as easy to kill a person by:

Using a car.

A basball bat.

Running them through with a kitchen knife.

Hitting them with a frying pan.

Starting up and chainsaw.

Or pouring a glass a drano in their cup of coffee.

All i said was those are sad numbers, why do you need to ask me a question that is off topic, is it because those number might be againts your thinking, and if it is why ask me, because i did not say what you need to hear.

No, my question is 100% on topic. I am asking you about gun deaths. The thread is about gun deaths.

Ill just take your argument as a more wordy way of saying nothing at all.

There are 195,000 deaths from medical malpractice each year. What do we do about that?

Center for American 'progress' !

That names points out how utterly nonsensical the topic is, and gun control is.

70 + years recycling the same old rhetoric to make the government the only people 'allowed' to have guns in this country.

Just like China there people.

Where it is illegal for it's citizens to own them.

"Progress' ! ! !

70 +years of massive leaps backwards to the King Georges tyrannical regime.

You have drunk so much koolaid your mind is muddled.

I do not believe the article but say it is true, who then is doing all the killings?

Ft Hood~~~ Registered Democrat and radical Muslim who supported Al Qaeda and Hamas

Columbine ~~~ Too young to vote; both families were registered Democrats and progressive liberals

Virginia Tech ~~~ Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff ~ Registered Democrat

Colorado Theater ~~~ Registered Democrat; staff worker on the Obama campaign; Occupy Wall Street participant; progressive liberal

Connecticut School Shooter- ~~~ Registered Democrat; hated Christians.

I can not even imagine what it is like to be as brainswashed as you.

Sorry Neo,

To keep up with your logic theme, your post commits a fallacy of weak induction.

We all know that the sole purpose of a gun is to kill.

All the other things you listed have primary uses that are not killing.

In keeping with the grand traditions of ATS, I felt at least, the need to check out the OP's sources.

The reason that this isn't making headlines across progressive tv stations is because this is a weak study. States with small populations, they used averages instead of actual data.

Things like that.

Everyone should be wary of PRO governemnt PRO regulation.

All they are doing is selling a hipper rap of fascism.

'For the common good'.

That has been the path to destruction for the last century.

so your saying these wonderfully smart people who back this administration 120% couldn't find the correct data to support the agenda their trying to shove down our throats? /shocked face* oh what a surprize

All you have to do is look at Western European nations to see that gun control does not increase gun violence or gun deaths. If that were the case there should be data that backs that conclusion up, there is not.

Says who ?

WHO ?

That is not it's sole purpose.

it can be used to put food on a table.

It can be used to stop someones daughter from getting raped.

It has multiple uses.

All the other things you listed have primary uses that are not killing.

Anything can be used to end another life.

Even that thing called government that some people think has the power to tell people what they can or can't own.

You know, I don't own a gun. Never have, well except for a BB gun when I was a kid. However I can see the dangers in removing them from the hands of free men. The FF penned the Bill of Rights after the fact and included the right to bear arms 2nd in that document for a reason. They weren't stupid people and I submit, were probably a heck of a lot smarter than the buffoons we have in Washington now. If the people we have now, were responsible for forming this nation, we'd be speaking Chinese or Russian. They can't do anything and anything they do, is, well, I give you Obamacare.

I agree that people should be wary of all laws and regulations. But your approach of gauging them as all bad is extreme, it is impossible to comprehend something if you are unwilling to examine it in the first place.
